Flying the Wing over JAWS

first day of testing the Wing out at Jaws proved to be successful. Only skies the limit now, the ultimate goal would be to soar over waves like a bird.

@@PlanetsandtheWater He may be being towed in initially (not sure), but on the wave he's changing direction in the air, using the wing to position himself properly. Check out the wave at 1:50 for example. First he seems to be using the wing to make extra aggressive turns, then he launches into the air - left towards the breaking white water. But while airborne he uses the wing to turn, flying over and away from the breaking section, to land perfectly back on the clean section travelling right. Then he launches again after like 3 seconds. It's phenomenal control.

I'm a pilot and also fly sailplanes. I think you are actually experiencing "lift" from the wave and the headwind(air). Similar to soaring from mountains. Incredible footage! IF possible, if you can make and control a Wing with more lift and less drag(generally towards longer and thinner wings with less camber) that would be better.

Had to look up camber. Wiki says.. "In aeronautics and aeronautical engineering, camber is the asymmetry between the two acting surfaces of an airfoil, with the top surface of a wing (or correspondingly the front surface of a propeller blade) commonly being more convex (positive camber). An airfoil that is not cambered is called a symmetric airfoil. The benefits of cambering were discovered and first utilized by George Cayley in the early 19th century.[1]

Yeah you notice when he comes off the back of the wave he drops like a stone but on the waves he comes down really gently
