I started to Wing foil when I was 56 years of age, and am now surfing the big waves and doing downwinders/flagging. (I'm female btw). You are never too young or old to learn to do it. Get into it, you will love it! I am now into my 13th month of wing foiling and its so much fun and such a rush, so c'mon, give it crack. Reply

Excellent! Did you windsurf before or kitesurf? How long did it take you to learn the basics?
@artemisxw8708 Жыл бұрын
@sophiiageneve2317 I learnt to kitesurf at 51 years. My dear partner taught me as he has lots of experience as a kitesurfer, kite foiled and windsurfer. As I mountain bike a lot the balance part came easy. Reading the wind is harder but I got up on my first attempt.

That is amazing progress in 13 months for any age. I am 73 kiting for 12 years and just switched to winging last year. Foiling now and trying to learn how to jibe. Too late for me to be as good as I was at kiting but I think I will be able to do this longer. Who knows 1 year maybe 10. Either way it is a win for me.

it’s different but so much fun as it’s something new to learn, I was also windsurfing when I was very young. The minumum I would say with the biggest equipment is 8-9 knots. In the waves we had a bit more wind, maybe 15-17?!

What if you do that with a paddle board?

works for learning but you will end up somewhere else, because your drifting with the wind downwind, because you don't have a big fin or foil underneath to stay upwind.
@andrewdanjumbo75842 жыл бұрын
You’d be better off putting a hydrofoil underneath a wind surfer. You’d generate way more lift due to the ability to run with a much larger sail area & its direct attachment to the board.

Just enough room for him to stand on it. Super talented dude. The tricks some of those groms on Maui can do is mind blowing. Oh, to be 12 years old and 90 lbs, and made of rubber!
