j-m is one of the most under-utilized bassists. his musical ability is never really shown in gojira (there is that rumor going around that joe writes the bass lines but i think thats bs)

I'd agree but the bass underpins pretty much every iconic Gojira riff so I'm inclined to say he's doing exactly what he needs to do. It's not always about standing out.

@@Raeborga i agree but often times when hes doing smth musically complicated it takes a couple of listens to notice. like listen to the entirety of fortitude with extra attention to the bass and youll noticed that it doesnt really follow the guitar all that much but fits in very well. im not saying that following the guitar exactly is bad (bc thats literally what its supposed to do) but when he leaves that area he adds some really nice spice to the gojira soup
