Beware - Jesus will never walk in flesh again. After WW3 - rise of the “ man of peace“ from the East = Antichrist - the most powerful, popular, charismatic and influential leader of all time. Many miracles will be attributed to him. He will imitate Jesus in every conceivable way. Don`t trust „pope“ Francis = the False Prophet - will seem to rise from the dead - will unite all Christian Churches and all Religions as one. One World Religion = the seat of the Antichrist. Benedict XVI is the last true pope - will be accused of a crime of which he is totally innocent. My immediate thought after seeing the setup for the first time was that the batteries will drain quickly but also that the sail is massive and I wonder if there's any flexible enough lightweight solar cells or membranes you could fit onto it to essentially turn the wing into one massive solar panel to continually charge the batteries?

You may not know this, but brushless PWM motors have an optimal speed/blade pitch for differing densities. If you run them at their peak operating point per fan curve data, you can switch on and off fan banks and a constant RPM/pitch angle and optimize your current use for the same thrust, thus giving you longer run time on the same batteries. This is one of the reasons modern prop airplanes have both adjustable prop pitch and rpm.

I would highly suggest adding some sort of protection for the user. Like a lightweight wall between the motors and the user. I fear someone can be basically stabbed with shrapnel from any motor blades if there is some sort of catastrophe. You have to think like this. If one motor destroys their blades, those blades can cause a chain reaction of damage in other motors. That’s a lot of shards to throw at the back of a user.
@SirDragonClaw
@SirDragonClaw 2 жыл бұрын
Four things you could improve. Although the last is more of a guess than an estimate. 1. Remove the middle vertical row of motors and props, they won't be as effective as your body blocks much of the airflow. 2. Use 25% larger props and engines (but with just the 2 vertical rows on each side) 3. Make ducts with a hexagon exterior and then you can have a more ridged frame and possibly a better more compact motor layout. 4. Add a slight (+ or - 10%) steering channel and have the right or left motors spin up or down slightly to give you better directional control?

The interesting thing is you could do two larger ducts say 18" across and put one under each arm to improve airflow around you body. The pack would not put all the weight behind you then.
@up4open763
@up4open763 2 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing. As I go through the landings, I wonder if that doesn't make a danger to you or the craft if you fall. To reduce damage possibility to the blade frame you could gap, covered or uncovered, the ducts on sides as they reach the fans, to allow some pinch movement, with some risk of other things or personal parts getting pinched. I was also thinking put the fans in a vertical halo form, and just gapping behind him, but then I think you're risking running into size difficulties and controlling the chute when transitioning.

@up4open763
@up4open763 2 жыл бұрын
@@david7384 I had seen them but they're a different design. The entire fan is used in that design, even when there is muting of the airflow behind the body, because the blades are flanking and above as well in their cycle. Those engines directly behind are only always pulling around the body, and that seems to us to reduce their efficiency, I believe for the drag across the torso.

Ducts only work on counter-rotating blades if they are shaft driven and RPM matched. The 2 motor design is more efficient when the duct is off because outside air makes up for the rpm mismatch allowing the motors to fight less.
@penguinista

The ducts make it safe, not just efficient. Still want that efficiency, of course. Might consider moving the motors out to the sides and leaving a strip with no motors behind the pilot. There is not much airflow through there.

Great video - the mattress is interesting :) I fly with electric motors and I can advise. The engines directly behind your seat are not efficient because you are unknowingly creating a closed system (it's about the same as blowing your mouth into the sailboat you're sailing on) and some sort of "confusor" on every engine doesn't really help. The classic paramotor with one large propeller does not have this problem, because its blades extend beyond the profile of the seat and there is no thrust in the center of the propeller. You have only two options - move your propeller "mattress" far back, or reduce the number of engines to 2 with higher power, which will be spaced apart to a larger spacing of your back (the diameter of one propeller should be 28 "). Both propellers should rotate against each other - it eliminates the gyro effect.No "confusors" or two propellers on one axis of the engine, because it has no noticeable effect. :)

I wonder if he took half of them off and removed the ones behind his body and spaced them out more if it would fly better and last longer due to less weight and better efficiency and everything you mentioned.

You don't want it too far back, it will try to twist the pilot, trying to get ahead of him. That could get very dangerous.
@DL-kc8fc
@DL-kc8fc 2 жыл бұрын
@@ChessMasterNate In practice, this is done by placing the propeller with an electric motor on a rod 0.75 m long behind the pilot's back. This propeller has folding blades like an umbrella, which expands by centrifugal force when the electric motor is switched on. In the motorless flight mode, the propeller folds down again like an umbrella thanks to the spring. In the case of a "mattress", it would be necessary to relieve it of the unnecessary things I mentioned somewhere and, of course, to move it away from the pilot's back (if he insisted on his concept). The partial rotation of the pilot to the right and left, as I noticed in the video, is due to the higher center of gravity, so something in this direction would have to change to prevent this. The pilot of a classic paramotor must be able to cope with the gyro effect of his propeller, so it is again up to the pilot and his experience.

Fun and fascinating. The innovation here is propulsion by multiple engines. The motorized paraglider has been around for a while. The paraglider even works with no engine at all, provided some sloped starting ground. The race for personal transport by air will hardly include a paraglider. Still, the mere number of viewers, 4,3 mill. at present, is an achievement in itself, indication the enormous interest and potensial in the man/drone concept. The actual example is scientific and quite brave, reminding of the early flight pioneers, risking their lives to back the experiment.

Lacking data from a wind tunnel I can only surmise that the middle two rows are creating more drag than thrust. I think removing them would not significantly effect performance while extending battery life and therefore flight time. Alternately the inner 2 rows of motors could be placed in a lateral configuration at hip hight.

Peter, I can't wait to see version 2 of your electric paramotor. I've thought a lot about building an electric paramotor and I really think two counter rotating props is the way to go. IMO, less but larger prop and motor combo, to obtain same wing span to power ratio, but also remove the ones from directly behind your body profile, maybe keep one low voltage anti eddy prop behind you, while ascending it acts like another motor. While descending it shuts off or reverses separately and allows the outer props to guide landing while the natural/powered eddie allows you to slow naturally/powered and predictably.

To be fair, it's not as if it is a novel creation. It's a propulsion system change. Not taking anything at all away from him or at least not attempting to. This build is the bees freaking knees. It is not, however, creating a new wing concept for an airplane from nothing but an idea in your head. Alllll that nonsense out of the way. Build yourself a paramotor! I really want to try out different engines but anything I have considered has already been attempted and either failed or worked and is now in production lol. I have a gigantic almost 7ksqft fab shop and a similar size wood shop and I have the ability to do carbon fiber and fibreglass at home as well and the one thing I want to make is Cosworth during the early '90s when they had the insane V10 non turbo Formula 1 engines made a single cylinder to test changes and it's 90HP and 10kRPM basically what I'm saying is I want to start from a solid block of aluminum and mill an engine block from raw stock. I'll likely buy the piston as I don't think figuring out how to forge a shape that complex would be fun and while obviously cost isn't too big a concern for me, in the case of the quality of alloy needed for a piston I may have a hard time finding enough material to make enough attempts to get it right lol. Forging isn't exactly something I do daily.
