I had this once and it feels like your eyeball is legitimately on the verge of exploding out of your head. Now if im every flying with a cold I take an Ibuprofen 1 hour before flying and another one 1 hour before landing - this has seemed to work for me👍

I recently flew 2.5hrs with quite a severe cold and it was the worst pain of my life. I was rocking back and forth with tears streaming down my cheeks. It quite literally feels as though your face is going to explode from the inside out. Medication will do little to help as the pressurised cabin is going to make the sinus cavities expand no matter what. Please, if it is avoidable, don't do it.

bulletproofjewels happened to me when I was like 14 and was flying on a plane alone. I almost wanted to commit suicide. That’s how bad the pain was. I refuse to fly with even a stuffy nose now. I almost blew out a eardrum flying back home from germany. I got a virus that closed up my eustachian tubes and when we started to descend the pain became unbearable. I thought I was going to die. I became desperate in my pain that was so bad im sure the other passengers could see it in my body language. In a act of final desperation I closed my nostrils with my fingers and inhaled as hard as I could trying to push air through the tubes. I did this for like 5 mins straight almost making myself pass out and FINALLY I felt it happen. It was the greatest relief. I was afraid of doing this cause I didn't know if I was going to be adding pressure into my ears and it turned out my ears were actually in a painful vacuum. They almost caused a ear drume IMPLOSION. I had a 50/50 change of getting it right, glad I did cause if had gotten it wrong probably would have blew my ears out. So now I will always remember that descending altitude causes a vacuum effect and ascending causes pressure I guess.

Flew to NY with a sinus infection from MSY. Horrible, horrible pain and I begged the flight attendant for an aspirin. Felt like my eyes were going to pop out of my head. But I survived and the week or two before I go on any plane I always excruciate and drink vitamin C to ward off any nastiness. And pop a Sudafed before I get on the plane juuuuust in case

I will not step on a plane with a clogged sinus after experiencing a rupture of all my blood vessels in a previous flight. I thought an ice pick was shoved into my face, the pressure was truly unbearable. If I wasn’t doubled over in excruciating pain I would have demanded an emergency landing but it was too intense for me to think rationally.

I have sinusitis and it has been always a nightmare to travelling by plane due to my work. Ear plug & yawning never helps me. But this method, thing I've noticed, I just need to keep my nose warm when it take off and also when it's about to land (My pain acting out in certain level of height of flying both on take off and landing). I just put my palm to cover my nose and blow the air from my mouth to warm my nose up 😁 Till then I have no so much trouble anymore.

This happened to me , worst pain in my life. 2 h flight and medicine DOESNT do anything. I tried ear plugs but they DIDNT work at all. And the last 30 minutes it felt like the area around my nose was gonna blow the WHOLE time. And I was bawling my eyes out, nothing to do and just wanting it to end so bad. Finally when we landed I still couldn’t hear or pop my ears. Finally in a hotel because I couldn’t go on another flight home, my ears still haven’t fully popped, and STILL feel pressurized. HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS? Plz I don’t want to think I’m crazy 👂🔪💉❗️‼️.
