So, I'm now 11 videos in enjoying binge watching on this lovely Saturday afternoon and I'm seeing the rust removal tool has arrived! Having watched your latest video first it nice to see the progression and the tools in their newly purchased state!

Binge watching is probably the biggest compliment you can give a creator. Thank you! It's not only the tools that look much younger, we also did 🫣

First one who corrects us in that direction 🤣 In the comment it usually it goes: "It's not a ship...". But I totally agree with you! It's a ship not a boat.

Those deck scalers are brutal. A pneumatic needle gun will be invaluable in your war on rust. Along with regular PPE get thick gloves to cut down on hand vibration/ fatigue. Better sweaty than never damage. Nice job backing out.
@FlyingConey2 жыл бұрын
The Tercoo is an evolution of a pneumatic needle gun. It works in the same way but less vibration and less noise. I know needle gun is old school and effective but it loud to a point where hearing protection won't protect you on the long run. The yard has recently decided to ban the needle gun for their protection.
@Pocketfarmer12 жыл бұрын
@@FlyingConey I like the less noise part. My ears and fingers have been damaged a bit by years of needle gunning. How does that tool reach into tight spots, like the corners of frames etc? The only thing worse than needle gunning is a chipping hammer.
@FlyingConey2 жыл бұрын
You can get the Tercoo discs as single, double and tripple for the power drill. And then there is the Tercoo Multi with 8 discs for lager areas. The machine is an adapted Fein angle polisher. We will test all this equipment in the future and we hope we also can test other tools like the needle gun and clean and strip discs for the angle grinder as a comparison.

A large sized bow thruster is a must on this huge vessel. once you start landing in foreign ports etc and there's a blow happening, even without a blow a thruster will make life easier, safer and stress free
@FlyingConey2 жыл бұрын
People keep telling us three things: 1. We are still young, 2. 1mm steel is 1cm rust, 3. A bow thruster would make your life a lot easier 🤣 Honestly, I agree with you, especially for a sailing ship with a long bowsprit a thruster is a must. But first we have to get the hull in good condition. So maybe that's something for the next haul out.

For communication while maneuvering, you might want to check out wireless headsets so that you can talk to each other no matter where on boat or dock you both are.
@FlyingConey2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately we are on a budget and we have to approach more serious problems fist. I've seen this little "marriage savers" at sail life. But I also think that a good briefing and hand signs also works well. I mean mankind is sailing since at least 30 000 years! Don't know exactly since when wireless headsets are available...

I have been watching all of your de-construction and see that a lot of Philips head screws were used. Might I suggest that when you begin building back that you use torx head screws. If you ever have to take them out, they never cam out like Philips can.
@FlyingConey2 жыл бұрын
We have a nice mix out of Philips-, Slotted-, Torx- and completely rusted away screw heads 😉 So we switched to the all purpose screwdriver aka crowbar. But I agree with you, Torx is much better than Philips.

What a beautiful bike ride! Excited/nervous to see the ship come out of the water. If you continue to receive packages, it might be worthwhile to get a box cutter--a whole lot easier than using scissors.

Almost every knife is easier to use than scissors for opening boxes.

Good to hear from you again! When using a knife for opening boxes I'm always concerned of scratching what's in there. But probably the next time we try our cutter knife. A little spoiler here, you can expect quite a lot of interesting videos in the near future.
@Its_me--Boo_Radley2 жыл бұрын
@@FlyingConey I have a box cutter that uses replaceable blades so I always have a sharp instrument. You do have to be gentle when opening boxes … but I’m sure you will be. The box cutters are also useful when I cut up the boxes for recycling … I’m ruthless at that stage!😁 Hope Eileen is doing well.

With all your demolition, why would you not buy a reciprocating saw , it would save you so much time, also during your rebuild?
@FlyingConey2 жыл бұрын
We have one but haven't had the time to pick it up because it's still in Austria. Also I think you can do most of the things you can do with the reciprocating saw with a jigsaw and since we've done quite a lot of demolition now we figured that "multitool" part 1 and 2 aka the crowbar and the hammer is a very efficient way to remove interior. But I'm also a big fan of using the perfect tool for the job so I can understand your recommendation but we end up most of the time using what's already in our hand and it turned out that's the crowbar most of the time...
