Howdy, Andrew. Greetings from Texas. Job well done, sir. As a beginner, I went with your beginner recommend radio, the updated version FS-is6X, very affordable, after delivery I almost sent it back as I watched some of your subsequent videos on the Taranis Q7, but I am going to stick with my beginner guns here. Not a cost thing, just a "do I need to order all bell and whistles" thing as I revisit an old hobby from decades ago. I am presently flying the beginner 3 CH RTF "Sky Cruiser" pusher prop plane you reviewed earlier, I am happy to report that this plane ( in a cushy grass field) has survived multiple hard landings and a bona fide crash or two without a hiccup. Very good flyer/glider in calmer winds. Excellent range with the included radio. Impressive. I am awaiting delivery of the Dynam Hawksky V2 as the second plane and first with ailerons and paired to my FS-i6X / FS-iA6B combo. I am also building a Flite Test "Simple Cub" as I just love that design and historical scale appearance. I live close to several lakes, so I am thinking a "float plane" version here. I had a lot of fun using that radio as a controller, via SmartPropPlus (SPP) with the free flight sim PicaSim. A DIN plug is wired to a 3.5mm audio jack (pin 1 of the DIn to the tip of the jack, and sleeve to sleeve to connect ground) plugged to line-in. The Flysky works in PPM (Walkera) mode within SPP transmitter settings. Run SPP before starting Picasim. In the Joystick settings map the sticks and you've got a cheap flight simulator.

Hello again Andrew this is Jeff b in Seattle I'm writing my review of my first flight with an Phoenix evolution plane it has 2 wings 1 is 62" the other is 102" wing..I used the 62" wings. It is the first plane I've had that is all screwed together, the thing I noticed was the rudder does not attach very well in the front.so I used some foam safe glue to keep it in place.i launched it and it took off very well I started gaining some altitude and went to make a left hand turn at about 50 feet high and during the turn about halfway through it took a nosedive I got the throttle before it hit but it still hit pretty hard. I've flown many Balsa planes so I was figuring to have quite a repair job ahead of me I walk to the 50 yards to retrieve it and I could not believe it the only damage to the plane was I cracked the nose cone nothing else nothing..... Now what had happened was I used the foam safe glue because it's foam writer but the plane is made out of plastic PVC type of material in which the glue did not adhere to as well as its I thought it would. So I'm going to score the top of the fuselage and use a different type of glue and I believe that will cure the problem but overall during the flight that I did have the time to say this it handled exceptionally well plenty of power good flight stability and extremely durable if it wasn't for me using the wrong type of glue I believe this would have never happened so overall I rate the plane very high the only problem I found in the plane was the one flaw where I used the wrong type of glue
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
Nothing will glue to the plastic, need to use screws

@jeffbowers48956 жыл бұрын
After watching your video the one you built with a fiberglass pole for the tail section connections I thought about it and figured out how to use the screws to fix the rudder so I'm going to cut a slot on the underside of the fuselage and screw it in that way .at first I didn't see how it would work screwing it from the top. After watching your video where you built the glider from scratch I realized that through the bottom would be the best way to do it because your answer to me was use screws and I thank you for making me come up with the answer to do it from the bottom side rather than just tell me that I appreciate the challenge. However what I'm thinking is I might use a thin piece of Balsa and then slip it between the rudder stabilizer and the fuselage glued to the stabilizer for a little extra strength....
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
I thought you were asking about adding a hinge to the lower section of the rudder near the control horn.
@jeffbowers48956 жыл бұрын
No I apologize for that no the front of the rotor stabilizer where it attaches to the fuselage is what I was actually referring to but after watching you Bill that plane I figured that would be the best way to secure it unless you have any other thoughts or suggestions that I might consider
@jeffbowers48956 жыл бұрын
It said router I ment front of rudder I used glue it didn't hold .that's why I thought of useing braces along the rudder fin to hold it from moving not the rudder itself .that's why I was going to add a piece of thin Balsa to the bottom of the rudder fin and drill the holes from the bottom side into it that would give me extra stability if doing acrobatics.should I use a piece of hard rubber as a washer inside to keep it from inlarging the hole from the stress???? Or would you recommend another way Jeff B Seattle thank you

Thank you for the info.i watched several of your videos and I've learned alot I enjoy flying but I really enjoy building planes .I don't think one screw by itself will be enough so I think I'll try some balsa wood, along the front sides shaped to the fuselage and cut to reduce the drag kind of like a corner brace... watching your flight of this plane you made it look like it's pretty stable and I don't mind sharing info with others from what I've learned .but I tell everyone about you and your how to videos and you show step by step instructions.the amount of time and effort you put into the them is unbelievable... thank you so much Jeff b. Hi Andrew. Is it possible to set up a throttle cut function for a glow engine, so that the engine will idle when the stick is at its lowest setting, but will stop when the "cut" switch is activated ? If so, could you explain how to do this please ?
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
Yes I think it would be possible, best to ask someone who uses this radio with nitro

Andrew I'm having a problem with the controllers with my family i6 transmitter for me it's to sensitive when I go to use the ailerons I inadvertently will add or decrease the elevator. And I remember in one of your videos you explain how to set that so it's not quite as sensitive so when I go to use a torons I won't be moving the elevator in other words I'll have to move the stick further before it controls the function so if you could tell me which video that you demonstrated this in I would greatly appreciate it so I can re watch it and adjust the settings accordingly. thank you Jeff b.in Seattle.

Hi Andrew. Can you tell me how to change the flap travel value for each position on the 3 position switch. Thanks
@AndrewNewton7 жыл бұрын
Have a look at my i6 Flaperon video. That might help, not sure myself at this stage.
@yanndesdevises76705 жыл бұрын
Had the same question. Look at Andrew’s flaperon vidéo as he says, at 4’30. The key is to assign an “empty” channel to Switch C, then create a mix between that empty channel and the “real” channel on which the servos are assigned. Then you will be able to decide on the amount of travel you want for each position.

Andrew, quick one on FS ai6 failsafe, re zohd ko-pilot, do you set channel 5 failsafe to on, so in event of lost signal it goes to RTL
@AndrewNewton5 жыл бұрын
Channel 5 has to go to the RTH position in a failsafe event. I'll have to have a deeper look at the FSi6 to work out how.

Thank you sir for such a great and informative video. I have flight mode on my trainer . Reflex V2. Usually works on a 3 way switch so Gyro off. Intermediate, and beginner. It will work on a 2 way switch but eliminates the off position. I am wondering what switch is best used for this since my 3 way is used for flaps , A is throttle cut The other right side 2 way is dual rate and expo. Would 2 way switch B or one of the var dials be better for gyro. I am old as dirt, and just getting going again since the days of crystals and slightly confused by the new technology. Please help if you can. Thanks Robert

3 way switch would be best to give you all modes but the pot would be OK too

Nice vid, is there anyway to change the total movment for the servo? I have this problem, when I set up the flaperons one servo moves more than the other, aparently it has a bigger range of movment than the other, is there anyway to fix this? tnak you
@AndrewNewton4 жыл бұрын
Yes. Servo End Points
@magneresjuan4 жыл бұрын
this is because the servos aren´t not the same ? why this happend? thanks
@AndrewNewton4 жыл бұрын
Just variation in manufacturing. It happens often.
@magneresjuan4 жыл бұрын
Just change both servos and same thing happens, the left servo has more movment range, I think it could be something relatit to the mix for flaperons....but Im not sure wish is the issue

You can use "Throttle hold" to set a safety switch for your throttle, leaving the other switch open for another function...

Is there a chance to use channel 5 for the tail elevator so I can use elevon on the normal wing
@AndrewNewton5 жыл бұрын
Elevons are just flaperons/spoilerons using the elevator stick as the source (also called snap flaps), so I think you can leave the elevator on 2 and plug one of the ailerons into 5 then do the flaperon mixing.

Andrew hi - having just purchased a FlySky FS i6 (for model sailing), enjoy watching your instruction videos. Have swapped the stick mechanisms over to configure to Mode 2 i.e. throttle left and have successfully configured end points for Winch (channel 3 - throttle) and steering (channel 4 - rudder). However having trouble getting trim control switches on radio body to respond other than the throttle. Is there something I have configured incorrectly?

Can you see any change in the channels graphs on the Display page when you operate the trims?

I have a Turnigy TGY-i6 (for model yacht racing) which I believe is the same as your Skyfly demo. model. The sails control lines (operated via a winch) are on channel 3. A friend can use switch to make small in/out adjustments to the which (on left hand stick). Can you please advise me how this is set up. Also, is it possible to have the left hand stick "notchy" rather than the smooth feel? Thank you, Alan

Yes same transmitter. Don't know about the notchy feel or the right stick fine winch control sorry.

How do you mix the throttle (master) with the elevator (slave)? I want to have a little down elevator when I reduce the throttle. For example, when going straight down, the plane would pitch up.

After I launch it. Thinking it's at full power. As I'm trying to gain altitude. It seems to take a role. To the left and nose dive into the ground. Because it has no power when I put Full Throttle I get full power for in the beginning 10 seconds 15 seconds, and then it's dropped down to like maybe 1/4 power. Not knowing that. Every time I try to go up it would roll and come straight down into the ground.
