I'd have to disagree on a few of the comments. Multiple of us have been racing with them for well over a year, most coming off of m17/7px and it's been perfect for racing, as long as you get the settings correct. Also the dead-zone problem has been addressed in the Pro. Personal opinion (from someone who's tried a fair bit of them) the noble is, overall, far far better than anything remotely close to its price range, if not a fair bit above it. Pretty fair review overall though, even if it did seem like there was a bit of a Sanwa bias. Of course it's gonna be a bit different than a Sanwa, because it isn't a Sanwa... Either way, always enjoy when you upload, very informative.

Thanks, the radio is very good and really best in class in nearly every category. Controls (ergonomics) are rather subjective like I said. But I do think the Sanwa has the best performance with the Futaba a close second. The Spektrum really doesn’t belong in this class of radio, but they keep raising the price to the point where it now costs as much as the others!

Not counting the (thankfully, small) collection of RTR transmitters, I have three mid/upper-range radios - Futaba 7PX, FlySky GT3C, and FS Noble NB4. Before deciding to get the NB4, I was seriously considering the more-recently-released Pro (although, I will mention that the 'interest' in the Pro was prior to its actual release)...however, once it was released, and the street price was known, I have a feeling a LOT of people decided to get the NB4, instead. That being said, I've seen several racers (at NorCal, no less) using the NB4, and liking it quite a bit. It was because of talking with two of them (approx 4-5 months ago) that helped me in deciding to get the NB4...and, other than the "model memory & firmware upgrade problem" (unlike other radios, which retain model memories when upgrading firmware, the NB4 doesn't...you have to 'backup' the model memories to your PC, then update the Tx firmware, then 'restore' the model memories, and (finally) update the firmware on every Rx). A quick "side note": From what I understand, with the most recent Tx firmware, users no longer have to update the Rx firmware. I am going to take a 'guess', and assume that, moving forward, the Tx automatically updates each Rx firmware the next time the Tx connects to each Rx, thus rebinding is probably also no longer required. However, I am also going to assume that the "model memory & firmware upgrade problem" still exists. If anyone can confirm/contradict this, please, let us know. Getting back to my NB4, even though it came highly recommended from a few other NB4 users (including two NorCal racers), I'm not using it in my land-based (hint, hint) race vehicles...that's what the 7PX is for. The primary "use" for my NB4 is my boats (including race boats), as the receivers are water-resistant (I'll never call an Rx "waterproof", unless it's a potted Rx, such as the marine-grade receivers from Spektrum...all others, I will consider as "water-resistant", no matter what the manufacturer 'claims'), with additional use going to most of my crawlers, and one basher. So far, I've had no problems. The only 'irritation', which I discovered (and solved, thanks to a video from WTF RC Cars) early in my NB4 ownership, was in trying to figure out which setting to use when binding the 8Ch & 12Ch receivers (yes, the NB4 does support up to a 12Ch receiver. The NB4 is "rock solid" (crawler pun not intended, tho, it does fit)...and, in certain ways, even better than my 7PX. I'll admit that the manual is far from the best...a lot needs to be "figured out" through 'trial & error'...but, once a user learns to understand the "uniqueness" of the NB4 (which can easily take several months), said users will discover how great this radio is. I've 'discovered' many great things about it, and I'm sure I haven't even discovered at least 50% of what it can do. The point is, the NB4 is an excellent RC radio...not just "for the money", but 'in general'. Is it better than the 7PX (which was recently replaced by the 10PX)? For the greatest part, no...but, again, in some ways, yes (ESPECIALLY the menu system, which is the BEST menu system I've seen). Is it better than most Spektrum radios? Most definitely. As for Sanwa, I can't say, as I've never (and, probably, will never, due to outrageous Rx prices) owned one.

For $300 AUD getting two small RXs this is a pretty good deal. Quick summary after 5 years not racing TC. previous Tx was the mt4 Small, nice wheel size, good finish, light, USB chargeable battery, touch screen, short brake throw. Can't think of any negatives so far. Better feel possibly than my previous mt4 due to size I think. Topped my group last night. Felt very at home with the Radio instantly, no adjustment needed whatsoever!

I do believe the nb4 is the best value radio in the market today, i do have a sanwa mt44 and m17, i feel more responsive because it is way lighter and fit comfortable to my hand (awesome grip design), but the nb 4 have more flexibility in features and can be tune easily without reading the manual, i used my nb4 with my 1/28 scale drift and racing because of the cheap micro receiver, mini-z evo and perform great, used also on my several 1/10 crawler, rock racer, drift, basher, and vintage RC, it very flexible and most important the receivers a price very reasonable, my sanwa radio use only for my competition buggies only, which i seldom use it. If you are focus in high level competitive racing, i really suggest investing on a sanwa high end radio (main reason LIGHT WEIGHT less fatigue and more connected to the driver), but if you are in a budget and you have different RC platform, and can be tuned easily then 100 percent NB4.

Yes, that's why I ran both the Sanwa and Flysky in the exact same car, it's hard to see, but I have two receivers in my Schumacher because I was running them back to back. @RazorRC2 жыл бұрын
No problem, great videos on the Noble, I found them very helpful! If your car is configured around the +expo, it's possible to get it to behave in a linear fashion and you might think it's normal. But if you're running a normal setup on the car and compare it to another radio, it should be apparent. You should see a lot of initial steering right off neutral in about the first 10-15% of throw, and then the car will feel lazy/loss of mid-corner steering as you get to about 50-60% of throw.

The issues mentioned in the video is why I wished the noble pro was reviewed instead of this. I hear the pro can be bought new at 325 usd with the right timing and sales coupons. The steering dead zone bugs the heck out of me, and I am looking for a top-end radio. It is the usual suspects of futaba or sanwa m17, but if those issues were sorted in the pro, saving 200 dollars is a big deal
@RazorRC2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it makes sense for anyone to buy a Noble Pro. If you want performance at a decent price get a 4PM or MT-44/MT-5 for the same price or less. There's almost no chance the Pro is any better.

@@SengLeeKoh It's not a matter of sponsorship, the people buying Sanwas and Futabas are paying their own way. It could be the Pro is better, but Sanwa/Futaba have made the best radios for decades, and the Pro just came out in the last few months from a company that could never make a radio close in performance. I watched several videos on the Noble, and none of them mentioned the driving issues, so either I didn't watch the right videos, or people are not qualified to distinguish the difference. If your local drivers think the Pro is equal or better at a lower price, then it doesn't matter what I say. You either believe them or you don't and can decide based on that.

Definitely have seen people racing with this, maybe not on a national televised level but its at the least club level material. There is some big name bias going on for sure. At $140 new, there is no way anything is coming close to competing with this deal. Not to mention the fact it can be plugged directly into the PC and used for VRC, the receivers are $25-$40 depending where you get them vs $50-$100+ for the other names, and the battery is detachable and can be used for other things. Im not sure if it deserves a huge protective case like a $800 Futaba, but then again you can buy 4 of these for the cost of one of the others. Had I seen this review first I probably would have passed up on this deal and Im glad I seen the review after I purchased mine.

@Itry RC Try playing with the start point as every car will be different to get the best off the line take off without loosing grip, mine is 40 percent. its cool after setting, trying different tires to truly see what each will take and wont. when you watch drag racing rc lot of times the nerves, again these are talented drivers,will flip upside down (land on lid) or leave the track almost instantly, will prevent that jsut about 100% of the time. the abs option is great for at the end of runs when you really need to stop, it will help save tires from sliding instead of braking , past that you can play with "shift points" witch allows for smooth throttle start to finish. setting the seconds for how long you want to get to 100% full trigger. throttle kill button is great when you dont want to accidentally pull full throttle while holding or working on car. Check out wtf rc cars for great NB4 reviews and rx to best suit. no need for bind plug, the fgr8b is my goto receiver. range is great and by a simple update allows for an extended range option.use what best options fit your driving . not all these options are needed for everyone.. @RazorRC2 жыл бұрын
yes, I even rechecked it about a week ago
@luissola66332 жыл бұрын
@@RazorRC only asking as in the early firmware the steering expo settings were backwards. So in order to make it less sensitive you had to go plus on the expo. It changed on the latter firmware, so if that's the case going Minus will make off centre feel laggy

I am a little confused on the review. So if it is a better radio than the DX5C but for a racing application the Spektrum is more responsive?
@RazorRC2 жыл бұрын
The Spektrum is linear and actually controls the car correctly, but is much slower. They’re both not great for racing, not sure which I would choose, maybe the Flysky.
@shaun42982 жыл бұрын
It blows my mind that Dakotah Phend has been winning lots of races with a DX5. Then again, the pros all slow down their Sanwa and Futaba radios so then I suppose they are about as slow as a DX5.
@RazorRC2 жыл бұрын
@@shaun4298 Yeah, really impressive. I think he's using a DX5 Pro, I'm not sure if they're below 5.5ms frame rate yet, but that's what the high end Spektrums did in the past.

Does anyone know if you can program SW1 or SW2 D/R to 100% with the push of a button? I sometimes run a low D/R and in some instances need 100% quickly.

I have the Futaba, which I like....but it's not the most intuitive/user friendly. It would be amazing if it had a better display and screen controls that the Noble has. The performance issues with the Noble though would probably drive me crazy since it would be use exclusively on carpet.
@RazorRC2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it really is not very good control-wise. The average basher or entry-level racer is not going to notice, but anyone who races at an intermediate level or higher will notice for sure.
@АццкийСотона-ч9о2 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Tell that to a bunch of people who ride NB4 and win competitions against Sanwa and Futaba. A problem sucked from the finger, which, surprisingly, was not found by any reviewer on the Internet. Of course, I understand, it's a shame when the equipment for 200 dollars is faster and more pleasant than for 700. Frank nonsense. You always have some kind of "special opinion" on everything.

Hobbyking has it the cheapest at $180usd with 2 racing receivers. It also plugs in to VRC as a controller!!!! Way faster and cheaper than any other at that price point. I will never buy a $700usd transmitter. Thanks for your great channel 👌🥰

Wassupperz Razor, that was a mighty fine review on the radio. I enjoy the content of all your vids sir. Quick question tho… I am in need of a new radio and have my eye on a Spektrum DX5 pro... have you ever reviewed that radio and/or what are your thoughts on it?
@RazorRC2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I haven’t reviewed that one, but it does have a screw to hold in the battery door which I think is kinda dumb. Frame rate is 5.5ms, a little on the slow side.

What radio in your opinion shall I consider?… I have not officially raced, just been bashing my RC’s… I was looking at the spektrum because of the price. I was under the impression it was up there since it’s not a cheap radio.

Once you try an NB4, you may not want to consider another transmitter. I’ve heard some good things about the DX5C but most of the racers and drifters near me have said the NB4 is REALLY good given the price. Granted, price is always going to be a concern but when you’re looking at radios at this price, the NB4 is hard to beat.

The only thing I don't like about the noble is I have big hands I'm 6'7 so the trigger for #2 channel is to small for me It will make me jump on the line if I'm not careful. I just got an idea to cut the one piece so I can get in enough to pull it and put on breaks.

When you mentioned that some of the other transmitters can connect to their own servos the nb4 can do this too via ibus or even using some of the other high speed connections like the 1000hz theta servos may be worth trying some see if you like the way it works with them, kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3qTmYSCpa-Bjs0

For low latency 1 way connection you bind it like this, you won't get the same binding complete message as it's a 1 way connection :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXvWqmNun5h6hc0

thanks, I was able to bind in 1-way after recording the video, would be interesting to see if that makes a difference to the deadzone and steering expo, but I'm guessing it only affects the latency.

Im a big Sanwa fan and have many brands of radios but I think you are exaggerating the issue of linearity and dead zone with the NB4 lol As to the problem stated just because it exist doesn't mean it actually exist in that application used because not every application is as demanding and in that regard many club racers raced it with enough success. Could these racers have gone faster with a Sanwa futaba maybe so or maybe not. Not everyone can extract every last ounce from even this radio to max it out to have the "dead zone" trouble them except for users who are the equivalent of what camera lovers called pixel peepers. So I think you bringing up the issue is one thing but the way you emphasised it in your conclusion is unfair.
@RazorRC Жыл бұрын
Unfair? I think I said several times that most people aren't going to notice. That said, if someone showed me 3 radios and asked which they should buy for racing, I'm going point them to the one that has the best performance. Because that's the criteria they are after. I don't know if they're going to be able to tell the difference, but it'd be pretty poor to point them to the one with the worst performance. In any case, Flysky has fixed the problem in the latest firmware, so the point is moot.
