The battery design is quite defective. Once I noticed that the aircraft could still be powered on even if the battery was not competely installed or in place. Imagine if I took off without knowing it. Problem is the drones that haven't been on the market for at least one year would definitly have some potential problems. And what are the problems? We'll see when it get to the hands of real consumers.

To prevent accidental power up on my Evo 1 I cut about 1/2 inch of of a 3/8 inch wood dowel. Split that in half length wise then glued each half to eather side of power button. That way the dowels stickup higher than the power button!

I love the sensors for avoiding birds. My Mavic Air stopped just before clipping a birds wing. Great for not crashing! This new drone looks good, it may be the upgrade im looking for.

It's a quad. 4 rotors, body and a camera. There isn't really a lot to innovate in that way, other than anti-collision sensors. It would be like Honda suing Suzuki for making a sports motorcycle with fairings and tires.

You mention the abrupt slowing motion when a obstacle is flown towards and you show it. If you had been moving much slower on approach would it still do that or move in closer at the slower speed without the abrupt braking?

Autel has lost their damn mind! $1,800 for this? Anyone that keeps up with these type of drones know that Autel only plays catch up to DJI. Autel Evo 1 was meant to be a Mavic 1 clone. And this Autel Evo 2 is supposed to be a Mavic 2 clone, but yet they are 2-3 years late. No way they should be charging a premium price like they are DJI or the industry standard. Drop the price to $1,200-$1,500 and then this Evo 2 would make sense. FYI, I own and fly the Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic 2 Zoom, Mavic 1 Pro, Mavic Mini and the Autel Evo 1. Hell, Autel is giving you the same controller as the 1st one without even fixing the placement of the back buttons that plenty of people have complained about in terms of accidentally touching it. They really think they are on the same level as DJI, but trust me, they are not! They should price accordingly.

The adjustable sensor distance combined with the flight speed would be an amazing feature, with EVO I this can be an issue when solo videoing so I'd definitely love that tweak. Other software tweaks that you mention like the addition of auto shots the same as DJI's or GoPro Karma's "Rocket" and "Dronie" would also be welcome additions. This would make both of these shots which I use often so easy when on a solo mission and having to frame yourself as the subject and/ or enabling you to be part of a group shot. without the controller/ use of the controller in view.

Very good his videos I follow him for a long time and thanks to his sacrifice he gets the drones to do the tests I bought and paid mine to autel pilot 15 days ago with the promise that they would deliver it to me in my hands in 5 days and first they sent me a tracking number that was not real and then they sent me one that I think is real but it was created and the box was never delivered to the carrier they play with people's time and money I'm anxious to get mine from another company to implement their advice Thank you for helping those of us who started this beautiful hobby

Evo2's obstacle avoidance feature is too dumb. The drone will begin to slow down even if it's still 15 feet away, this means you'll have to fly in a rather open area to obtain a smooth footage.

so WHEN will you get the new updated camera drone?...it'll be nice if you can do the same comparison video with the new camera. But just a tip....please can you show a lot more footage in your comparison video relating more to green foliage as this will show the colour depth and focus detailing. Even in your vehicle trailing comparison scenes my eyes were trying to focus on the limited greenery view on my screen to ascertain the true quality of the installed EVO 2's camera; as the concrete road and river/lake doesn't give that depth that you need to be able to make that much of a judgement on the camera quality. (just a suggestion). thank you.

Pros and cons for just about any product. In my opinion any hobbiest would be crazy to spend approx $1800 for a drone. I bought the Evo1 bundle for $1050. Yes the 360D obstacle avoidance is important. As far as flight time 30 min with 3 batteries is plenty. MOST all the videos I've watched where pilots crashed their Evo1 was pure stupidity. OK..so you can purchase a 6K or an 8K camera, but who is really going to use it but professional photographers. You also need a real fast computer I've heard. I am not knocking the Evo ll it's an awesome drone. Speaking for the everyday hobbiest. I think they should stick with an Evo1. NOTE always be careful of your surroundings and fly safe. Phil, they are available for preorder from various online retailers. I ordered the Evo II rugged bundle from advexure.com because they offer free shipping in the US. There was another retailer I found that offered free shipping, but they didn't have the bundles. Preordering requires full payment up front at advexure.com though, not a deposit like some other retailers. I put in my order about a week ago or so, and they emailed me the other day to tell me that they are expecting to receive units on March 16. I guess anytime after that they should start shipping out to customers.

Good question, I don't know the answer to that, but a lot of apps like KittyHawk, B4UFly, and AirMap will check your area to see if it's safe to fly. As the pilot, it's your responsibility to not fly or go near a restricted area. Hence, you need those apps.

From my experience it gives you a warning but still allows the flight. Note I’ve never gotten close to major airports. But surrounding areas that are normally off limits in the Dji app, Im able time still fly the evo.

Awesome drone, If computor can't handle 8K... Don't shoot in 8K! BTW, the main reason I pre-ordered this drone rather than the DJI Mavic 2 is that it does'nt have the Geofencing/NFZ. My friend could'nt even fly around his property OR the local RC club after spending over 3,000 USD for DJI Mavic 2 with accesories, Yeah he was pissed off!

I have the EVO 1, for the II the controller would be better if took a tablet straight off without using an extender, all the weight is on a single screw fixing on the back, a proper bespoke adaptor made to fit would do but a new design is needed. Also back buttons can easily be touched and pressed accidentally, you can get a rubber surround on line but should you have to. The EVO 1 is good, shame they never had all round object sensing but now I'm used to it, the camera gimble holder that locks it in position is pathetic, is the II better... ? What about filters for the camera, how would they fit especially the 8K one... ? EVO 1 has a 23,5mm thread so can buy filters easily on line and they don't fall off... Are the landing legs the same as the EVO as I have made some 1.5inch extensions which work great and just slide on, 18gms. ? On the II is it possible they could add -90 +90 azimuth travel on the camera using the screen and finger swipe as I believe on some of the DJI's you can do ? I guess Droni and Rocket would be useful however I can basically do it just using the controls anyway, but yes, add it... any idea what "Live" means on the new latest evo I app...? oh yea, some better technical instructions, not flying but all the tech spec in one place... Alejandro from the Autel Customer Service team is a good guy if you speak to them... has helped me here in the UK. Cheers

Hello....retired cop here from Indiana. I’m running a dell desktop with 8gigs of ram but I’m planning on replacing the ram memory or getting an entire new system. I’m not going to be doing any huge videos and or crazy editing. I’m a beginner. What requirements should I have on the new desktop? Or do you think I should just step up the ram on the present system....what about video card?

As a former owner of the smart controller... It's not worth what it costs. Especially if your not super tech savvy and professional. Trying to download maps of your location is a hassle. Getting dji geofence unlocked even worse. LAANC unlocked on phone in less than 4-5 minutes. Yet the "smart" controller is unable to get the zone unlocked without usually mulitiple calls to dji. If you're a professional I'd make sure to use the regular remote setup on the job. At least if youre being supervised. Looking forward to leaving dji's babysitting behind me later this month however.

I'm buying my first drone for work purposes this month. I'm seriously conflicted between the Evo2 and the Mavic 2pro. I was told that the mavic 2 had much better smart flying modes. Is this true? there are also whispers In The air saying that the mavic 2 pro will have a huge price drop in April with the announcement of a new drone. Patience has never been a virtue of mine 🥺 I would appreciate any thoughts or input thank you

Go with the Mavic 2 unless you will be flying in NFZ problem areas. It seems like Autel just doesn't have the engineers like DJI has to go out with drones that are not copy cats. If the price of this was $1,200-$1,500, then yes. But at this point, Autel has lost their damn mind. Get a Mavic 2.

Does have the Joni and the rocket in the hyperlapse did you update it you know it’s you and the other guy seems like you guys have this thing out for the DR till I know man books are great I mean I think they’re awesome but you guys don’t even look into what do you think you can do before you start cutting on him I mean they’re different definitely they’re two different machines but everything I’ve seen at the Maverick does I can do with mine the Mavic may have bit of software I don’t feel that may be true but I have a devil him we’re up time and I just had better handling handle the wind better I am I don’t like to censor though

I have an EVO 1 which I use almost exclusively in my camera work (the Mavic 1 I have sits in its case). Normally, I would be queuing up for the EVO 2 about six months after production models are on the market (I wait for the bugs to get smoothed out and possible price softening before I invest). However, given the uncertainty in our future ability to fly - thanks to our good friends at the FAA, I will not be making any more UAS purchases right now. Unless you have money to throw away on devices that could be ruled unlawful to fly, this is, IMHO, a good time to hit the pause button on buying new UAS products.
