ANY bike is a good as a "First Bike". Personally if you take a safety course and use what you are taught on top of respecting the bike I say buy whatever bike you want. No need to waste a few thousand on a "starter" bike! I took the MSF course the end of April 2005 and only rode two times riding for no more than 2 miles before the class! I got my certification went to DMV Monday after the course and got my license then the second week of May 2005 I bought my first and brand new bike a Victory Jackpot. I took it to the college and practiced on the lot every weekend. I've had 2 close calls but the MSF class helped me immensely AND taking my bike to the college parking lot to learn the dynamics of it.

Man I went to the local Indian dealership first, when I bought my first bike and couldn’t even get any help from anyone?!! After 10-15 minutes of no one even answering my questions for me I left and went to Harley and bought an iron 883. The Indian dealership emailed me a promotional a few weeks later about something and I told them about my terrible experience there and they were very apologetic and wanted to talk to me about it and such but I didn’t feel it was necessary at this time since I’m really happy with my purchase so far but I wish I could have talked to someone about a scout when I was there but they whoever was working that day just had zero interest in anything but his phone so I got a sporty instead. Too bad. I very well might check out a FTR 1200 though when I get ready for something like that? Really dig that bike!
@MCCJustMotos3 жыл бұрын
that’s a unfortunate story but fortunate for the harley dealer. Hopefully the indian store can take a hint about the lack of interest in talking with you. FTR is an amazing bike, but I also think the Harley is a great bike for different reasons then the indian. what so you think?

My wife is committed to taking it for a few miles each month to keep the fluids and such up to snuff and getting my oil changes done. So that will help. I have always wanted a bike since I was a kid and I loved the Indians but when I was a kid they didn't make them so I was stuck on Harley Road Kings but now that I'm able to afford one the Indian is back and the bobber just seems to sit right with me. Wow! i was searching for some vids about a new rider starting out on a scout bobber to which there are not many, then this vid pops up recently after me thinking i'd seen them all. Nice vid! I also would absolutely love to start on a scout bobber too. What a beautiful & classy first bike. I thought it would be too much to start on something like this but from what i'm hearing & seeing it can be perfectly fine. It's not like it's got the throttle response & brutal speed of a 1000cc supersport so more forgiving & it has ABS too. Only thing that concerns me is the weight. I would have to store it in my very small front garden with a tight front gate entrance. I wonder if these bikes are ultra heavy? Because that would make it abit awkward wheeling it through that front gate.
@MCCJustMotos5 жыл бұрын
sabermaster80 thanks very much! It’s an extremely well balanced bike that is easy to maneuver. That takes away from some of the weight and makes it easier to maneuver in tighter spaces.

Don't let that "cruiser" name fool you. 100 hp is no joke. I came from a 600 ss. and can tell this bike has got some pull to it. @@MCCJustMotos I was lucky my dad liked riding bikes so he taught me at a young age. I was 7 when he bought me my first Benelli 50.

I dont agree !!SO YOUR Telling us all go buy a used car first you are going to wreck!! My beliefs and the way I was taught was always keep your bike up on two!! pavement is different than dirt!!! It sucked whipping in the dirt, but there is not much forgiveness on the black stuff....keep it real !!you dont want to lay it down.....Ride and be safe.. Cheers...!!

Not to hate on this comment. But he can flat feet the bike. And that advise about getting a used bike cause youll drop it only works on super sport bikes like r6 or r1...

He is!! He’s rocking out some vlogs himself! Maybe if enough people ask him he will post them on KZbin!

I'd love to see them really! He seemed like the shy and friendly type and this doesn't always match with these types of motorcycles from what I've seen, but it's a breath of fresh air honestly to see people exploring and trying out new things. I'm planning on getting a scout bobber myself early 2021 and was wondering how it went for him, having this as his first bike ever. Even if he won't be making the videos public, was thinking that maybe you can let me know if it's a bit too much for a new rider. I'm 31, so not really in my unconscious youth, if it makes any difference at all haha ✌️

I think your reply is really insightful and spot on. haha..yeah he’s a good dude but not your typical “bad ass biker” I can tell you he’s in the same age catagory as you and has done really well. I’ll pass your comments on!

Haha you noticed that! The dude JUST finished his Rider training course taken at Harley. He had NO gear and bought it there. He ordered a Indian Jacket months before he bought his bike, but it did not make it in by then. I can confirm he has recieved it at rocking that jacket!
