Hi, the Kings Indian is flexible although usually Black plays with e5. playing c5 is good depending on what White plays. GM Lemos

Bought the video, used the code (thanks), and am now KID / KIA all the way. Very instructive. Would only suggest to use a board that shows the last move played, a little hard to follow the moves at times. Thanks!

Hi! well.. the Kings Indian is a very good defense, you get dynamic positions full of possibilities, problem is: you have to learn lot of theory and sometimes you have to get used to play with less space :) take care, GM Lemos

Thank you, Alisa! In your last video I asked for some examples for black and this has been very helpful!

I can honestly say I learned more about the KID here than any book I've read on it. Looking forward to more in this series. Admittedly I don't keep up with chess like I used to since I stopped playing in tournaments over 15 years ago, so I was surprised when you said the KID had a bad reputation...when did this happen?

Just study the Benoni if you want to play c5, as the c5 lines are basically Benoni lines with a different move order.

Hi Alisa.. thanks for the analysis of this game. But could you explain to me, why white *didn't* do h2xg3 after Black Queen took horsie on A8? before that erronous white bishop move as you said?

Thanks for posting! 12:55, what's the tactical advantage of the bishop on A4?
@ChesscomGames7 жыл бұрын
This is more a positional advantage. After Qxa4 Rxc7 Rxc7 Qxc7 you got the c file. Also the opponent's Bishop pair is not strong at all and you'll get the possibility to exchange it against your Knight if needed. So finally Black has a good position with the c file, White pieces are not very well placed + the pawn structure is not very strong.

12:55 'Because of this tactical trick' - what trick is that? It looks like a Bishop sac for nothing. After Ba4 QxB then what? I see Nd2, so that wins a Rook which is trapped in but it doesn't gain a piece as the N gets taken next move. Nor is there a fork on the Queen because the Queen can easily come back to c2 if Black tries to take the Bishop and fork the King on g1 and Rook on c1. Does anyone know what tactical trick she's referring to?
@yggdrasil90397 жыл бұрын
I can see it's an unblocking manoeuvre to take the Knight on c7 which could have caused problems, but was it necessary to sac the Bishop just for clearance? The Queen ends up in a weird position and tempo is lost. Aside from getting rid of the Knight I don't get the point of this 'tactical trick'.

Ahhhhhh this darn Melekhina girl. I wonder what nationality that last name is?? Its catchy. Every time Alisa pronounces it, it makes me think of "Macarena" - the dance craze. I end up watching this video while doing that silly dance.

@null.dev.11 жыл бұрын
ok sorry. I gues it is because of the simple pawn , exchange, (tower retreat), black moves queen back and white is in a whole heap of horsie manure. Got it. sorry :)

I mean, since the black Queen decided to take white knight, one would think that white would grab that horse in return, alleviating the pressure on the cornered king?
