Hi Robert! Just discovered your channel and your excellent teaching skills and presentation. You deserve more subs! I am a Czech defense player and that's how I found your content. Just one thing. Pirc is not pronounced purk but pirse. GM Vasja Pirc was a Yugoslav and well known chess commentator and Croatian Antonio a.k.a. Agadmator told his audience once that it was pronounced pirse or pearse! Looking forward to the next lesson although I have a lot of lessons to catch up to.

23:04: Sheesh. Stared at this position for maybe 15 minutes but still couldn't get it. Considered 1 ...fxg4 but couldn't figure out what to do after 2.hxg4 Bxg4 3. Bxe4. Also considered 1...Qe6 and 1...exf3 yet couldn't find any decisive continuation. Just goes to show what a fructifyingly complex game chess is, and the difference between chess masters and mere mortals. Congratulations on the brilliancy. Great instruction as always. Cheers!

@@vinothindrakannan2240 I understand! The reason why we do not go over it in much detail is because white typically wants to fight for an edge since they haver the white pieces and trading queens is not the way to go. If they did, then we just walk into a middlegame that is very comfortable for Black. We just need to outplay them in the middlegame or endgame. My best advise is to do what I explained in this lesson about using the theory feature on lichens and you can see how the game typically continues. If you look at the stats, you will see that white does not do well in such variation. Please, let me know if this makes sense 👍

If someone pushes f5 then what will I do in four pawn kid
@NMRobertRamirez
@NMRobertRamirez 3 жыл бұрын
There are two main problems with f5. First, we can always win a pawn with gxf5 and then Bxf5. That same bishop from f5 can move to g6 eventually to protect our kingside. Secondly, if they do f5 directly before dxe5, we can do exd4 and bring our rook to the e-file 💪

Fab videos, quick question, what time control is best for improving in chess, I currently play mostly 15|12 but am thinking I should be doing 30 mins or longer as I would like to eventually play over the board, I am rated 1100 on chess.com and am slowly improving. Just started looking at your splendid videos about a week ago :-)
@NMRobertRamirez
@NMRobertRamirez 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Tony! That is a great question. So, let's talk about it. Longer time controls (30 minutes or more) allow you to evaluate, plan, and calculate without worrying about running out of time. We need this. Playing blitz does not allow you to do that, but it helps you get comfortable with playing under time pressure. Now, truth is that even if you play a 2-hour game, you might run into time pressure at some point and if you have not trained that, you will blow everything simply because you get nervous. So, like everything in life 😁 we should find a balance to become a more efficient tournament player. I have always performed better when I have a lot of time for my games and after losing so many games in time trouble after hours of play, I started to train my blitz skills too. So, I would recommend playing longer games and little by little incorporate shorter time controls. What I use the most with my students is 15|10 and 5|5. Then, occasionally (and when we are getting ready for tournaments) we play serious time controls (1 hour or more). Hope this answers your question. Please, let me know how you feel as you try other time controls and feel free to ask me any other questions you might have 👍
