Hi Rosh, thanks for your videos, which are very helpful!👍 Are these settings also applicable to the FM3? Thanks for info! Greetings Uwe
@RoshRoslin2 жыл бұрын
Yes, except the FM3 only has output 1 and 2 (quarter inch) you can adapt these outputs to the FM3

Thanks Rosh ! No one seems to want to give a straight answer on just as a general rule at what level should the FOH level be ? Your example was at noon, would that be a good general setting ?
@RoshRoslin10 ай бұрын
Start with 11 o clock or Noon, because the output still has to be gain staged at the mixing board and that is entirely dependent on the sound engineer

Great video! So I can do for example for mixer/live purpose do like this: Amp-cab-OUT1 left channel diferent amp-cab-OUT 2 Right channel for some true stereo/diferent amp? Also i would be able then to OUT1left and OUT2right go into the mimiq and with diferent amps have some super wide and diferent setup? Right?
@RoshRoslin7 ай бұрын
Yes, you. can do this. Keep in mind that you can just pan the cabinets L/R as well as the amp blocks so you can use OUT1 in stereo to achieve the same thing.

Great stuff yet again! Please excuse me if you've covered this elsewhere, but I was just wondering how you set your reverb(s) for live work compared to for just playing around at home. I think most of us tend to use a bit more at home or in the studio?
@RoshRoslin8 ай бұрын
I set my reverbs as they sound good at home. Then at the gig, if needed I use the global delay/reverb mix in the setup menu to offset how it sounds live. I usually don't to make too many adjustments
@simonwilliams76088 ай бұрын
Thanks heaps! @@RoshRoslin . That's brilliant advice! I didn't even realise there was a global delay/reverb mix. It's hard to tell from the manual, but I'm assuming this will work with both series and parallel effects?

I'm curious why you go from the Fractal XLR out to an audio interface. Wouldn't XLR outs right to studio monitors or a wedge still give you the same stereo sound?
@RoshRoslin10 ай бұрын
I have multiple Fractal Units going into my interface, both the FM9, AxeFX3 and FM3 have seperate stereo pair channels of my interface

Excellent video! I have a question: if I'm routing my Output 2 into a Seymour Duncan Power Stage 170 and then to an actual speaker cabinet, should I be using the -10dB or +4dB setting?
@RoshRoslin Жыл бұрын
You should use output 3 to your SD power stage and keep that at "unity gain" (settings -> audio tab) and turn output 3 fully clockwise for the best signal. Use the output on the SD power stage to control your stage volume

Rosh, great video as usual! Do you have an opinion on the Friedman ASM 12 vs. your FRFR speaker wedge? Do you think the Friedman monitor is just as FRFR?
@RoshRoslin2 жыл бұрын
I had the ƒriedman. I think the friedman is a good bridge between a traditional guitar cabinet and an FRFR wedge. If you can try one, then you can make a comparison.

Hi Rosh, Quick question.. if I am sending Out1 to house and Out2 to Return of amp for live, setting the global Out 2 copy would include all the cab blocks as well yes? (New to this stuffs)
@RoshRoslin4 ай бұрын
Yes, it copies whatever is sent to output 1 (including the cab block)
@Dan_XF072 жыл бұрын
Hey Rosh! You really do an amazing job! Please, if you want to use two amp simulations and two cab simulations in that dual amp stereo procedure, the correct thing would be to put the second amp and the second cab to run in parallelo but at the end of the signal chain they all unify again leaving through the same output? Or would I have to change the output using blockd output1 and output2 ? In this case, I use the fm9 a lot at home with headphones, but in the case of the church, if you could give me a tip on the best way to do this, I would be very grateful! Cheers!
@RoshRoslin2 жыл бұрын
Dual stereo implies that you're using different outputs to have 4 outs going to FOH/Your monitoring system. If you sum them up at the end of the signal path, it's just a blend of two amps + effects which is still a stereo signal
@cardp17 Жыл бұрын
Rosh, regarding copy output1 to output2. i cant seem to control my out2 volumes (to my frfr monitors) via an ev2 exp pedal. wondering if im doing something wrong. thoughts? ive checked all settings and the volume can be controlled via the ev2 if i turn off copy out1 and add an out2 to the preset.
@RoshRoslin Жыл бұрын
If you only want to control with an expression pedal outs on out 2, they need to be separate blocks in your preset and you'll need to disable "copy out1" in the output. I would recommend adding a shunt to an output 2 block and then putting a volume block there

Hey Rosh…great videos. I’m new to the Fractal world and you are a great help so thank you. Silly question: can I run output 1 to FOH mono then run output 2 stereo with two frfr wedges or should I keep them both outputs the same? Thanks man…
@RoshRoslin Жыл бұрын
Yes you can do that. Set output 1 to either Copy L>R or sum L+R and then Out 2 leave on stereo. Just be aware of phase cancellation or having the audience only hearing one half of the stereo signal.

hey Roch just watched your video and have a couple questions.I have my FM9 set up in what i call my music room cant really be called a studio LOL. I have output one going to my Apollo x8 via SPDIF and monitor it through UA Luna on my computer. Then i route from output 3 to my Mission engineering FR cab which is mono. i have the SPDIF out set up in stereo and output 3 in mono being that the mission cab is mono and i have L&R summed. I notice you actually use output 2 to your FR cab and you i think you said you have output 2 setup on stereo. could i benefit from trying to use output 2 some kind of way? i think i was using output 1 and 2 on my FM3. If i remember right the FM3 did not have an output 3.
@RoshRoslin2 жыл бұрын
Unless you have multiple cabinets etc you can stick with your setup. I use output 2 because it is XLR for the input on my FRFR which is the NX-12SMA. Some people use output 3 to use a standard quarter inch cable etc.

Great tutorials! I run stereo in to a Midas M32 and have been running stereo to pre-amp channels. Is it better to use the aux ins as opposed to going through the channel strip with Pre's? Manual says to not use mic pre's, interested to hear your opinion. Thanks
@RoshRoslin2 жыл бұрын
I have an X32 for many gigs and just go directly stereo into two channels. It's totally fine. When they say don't go into mic pres, it's more not to have the influence of how a mic pre can change the signal. If you're doing something live it's perfectly fine, the Midas pres are relatively neutral sounding in my opinion

Great videos Rosh! Do you guys set Output 1 to 12? I’ve been using my AX8/FM9 set to 3pm or full. However ended up with harsh tone and notes choking. I reckon the output was probably too hot.
@Gilmourist Жыл бұрын
I see a lot of band pass ability. What if I want band reject ability. You cannot create band reject using high cut and low cut options. I could use graphic EQ but why does some effects like compression not have the graphic EQ ability?
@RoshRoslin Жыл бұрын
You can always add a graphic EQ after an effect to further shape tones that don't have an EQ. Use a control switch or scene to engage both the GEQ and compressor simultaneously
@Gilmourist Жыл бұрын
@@RoshRoslin Thanks! I know the FM9 allows for multiple reverbs. What about multiple graphic EQ?
