I was working on a TRC '83 a few years ago that my customer had inherited. I can't remember what part he needed but I called back to the factory. Keep in mind that this was probably 20 years ago. I got someone on the phone and he said, "let me look around, I'll call you back." I thought: "I'll never hear from him again....." I find that a lot of young folks lean toward tactical firearms. Myself. I lean toward the old wood and steel firearms. As for the T/C's, I'm glad that they are coming back. I doubt that the line of T/C firearms of the 60's-80's will resurface. I was there in the 70's to the mid 80's when Ken Thompson and Warren Center were there. I was in the testing department and it was very interesting to see the changes of the Contender over the years. Also the new products such as the Muzzle loader line and the then new TCR 83 added to the pleasure of working there.

My first TC was my .36 caliber Seneca I bought in 1976 when I was 16 and she is still in my gun vault. My first contender pistol was 1982 in 35 REM and I took a lot of deer with that gun. I love the side hammers they made best. I had both .50 and .54 “Hawken” style, still have the Omega thumbhole laminate and an Encore both in 50 cal. They all have taken many elk, deer and antelope back home in Wyoming. I really hope to see this pod cast come to fruition.

@@fmgpubs I am a gunsmith and build my own centerfire rifle but I love building and hunting with flintlocks… I still go home to Wyoming to hunt if I can draw the tag. But that Seneca started my black powder fever. Before Encore, I had several “Contender” calibers but wanted to push handgun hunting so I started building .358 Winchesters on Remington XP-100 actions. So I drifted away from Contenders until the Encore came out.

I bought a 50 cal thunderhawk inline muzzleloader in late 80's or early 90's couldn't get any shot consistency using pyrodex and various bullets. Was going to send it back to factory, called first, receptionist said let me give you the guy who works on that model. He said "load 80 gr. 2f black powder and a 300 gr. Maxiball and I'll never hear from you again. I thought "yeah right" but tried it anyway. Result - tackdriver, if I miss it's my fault! I marked my ramrod and have never tried another load in 35+ years! Customer service knew how to fix the problem. Also have a New Englander 50 cal and 12 ga shotgun. You mentioned getting younger shooters interested in the Contender. Well the tie in is already there. Shooters today like movie guns. The Walking Dead series pretty much resurrected the Colt Python. If you watch John Wick 4 you will see that he used a custom T/C in a dueling scene. A John Wick TC Contender would sell just like the Taran Tactical guns. Something for the marketing people to. Consider.

My first T/C was a 10" barrel Contender in .30-30 Winchester, for competing in IHMSA metallic silhouettes around 1987. It was recommended to me by Les Baer (back when he worked out of the original shop at his home in Allentown PA.) He also recommended the caliber, because it would reliably knock over the 55 lb. rams at 200 yds. After a while though, I switched to the .357 MAX chambering, which was adequately powerful and much less punishing to shoot a match with. Les also did a trigger job on it for me, which was a big improvement .

The .38/.357 barrel is fantastic but the one that changed my Attitude was the .45acp. It's amazing! Who knew you could shoot groups like that at 100yds with an old slow .45? So I picked up an octagonal .45Colt barrel -not the shotshell version. It's so slender and light and with the hotter loads I was shooting 64oz Gatorade bottles full of water at 200yds! WOW! But it was so light it kind of hurt after an long afternoon so I went out and bought a .460 S&W Magnum. What a flat shooter! Wonderful! And it all started with an old .45acp barrel I got in a trade. Somehow I let it get away and I miss it.

I'm seeing some comments from folks hoping certain models will be brought back. I happen to know one of Ritz's partners, and that guy is hoping to eventually bring back most of the guns TC ever made, including the muzzleloaders (yeah, that guy likes to hunt with a smoke pole). I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but be patient guys. If all works out, I think we'll see the first guns late this year or early next. Once things are up & running, it'll take a while to see guns other than Encore framed ones being brought back. Keep your eyes & ears open. Obviously, nothing I say is official, but the new plant isn't far from my house & I can't help but be as excited about this as everyone else. Super happy to hear T/C coming back. Many years ago I received a T/C percussion mz. Right away the nice quality could be seen. I was looking to buy another T/C then I heard S/W acquired them, instantly I was turned off because it seems S/W is mostly concerned for the bottom dollar. Quality and Family atmosphere goes a long way. I can't wait to see what happens.

Nice to see something besides another polymer frame, striker fired, 9mm handgun.🙄 T/C Contenders absolutely dominated the handgun metallic silhouette shooting competitions in the 80s and 90s when I was doing that. It was hard to actually _compete_ with anything else. They were also the dominant handgun hunting pistol. Lots of custom barrels and cartridges were available from outfits like JDJ and Gary Reeder. I hope they come back strong!

This is wonderful news! I love the encore platform (jumped on that shortly after it was introduced) and in the last year I picked up my first contender, wonderful contrast in size between the two platforms. My main focus has been on the pistols but I also have a few rifle barrels... I've put a lot of venison in the freezer with the encore and made some great memories doing it 😊

I have one of the real tc encores with beautiful blueing and the over travel set screw in the trigger guard which made the trigger about perfect and I hope Greg will be bringing that back. I have a mgm barrel in 270 win. 24”polished blue will shoot 1/2” all day. I can’t say enough about there work. if you pick up one in rifle form put it to your shoulder then you understand and have to have one because the weight of the rife is in between your hands where it should be and makes it so steady. This makes me so happy they are coming back.

Fantastic news. Learned about Contenders and XP-100's reading Bob Milek (RIP) in the 80's. I bought a used one in 2005 (i think) with an eye toward ground squirrels. Sold the 7x30 Waters barrel to partially pay for a 22 Hornet (how little i really knew about the Waters). Love the thing. Traded an unloved Kel Tec P11 to a friend for a scoped 17 HMR barrel, bought a 22 LR, and a few years ago a 357 Herrett from another friend (so far unfired by me; no room to reload, stuff is in storage). All 14". Still want 1 or 2 more. Would like to get some 9" barrels, esp a 41 Mag. That 45 ACP barrel that Roy mentioned is very interesting. So would a 10mm be. Would like a rifle barrel or 2, possibly a 25-06. I am very interested i 38-55, and i was just recently pricing barrels and wood on the Bulberry website. I love Roy's attitude, perpetual smile, and easygoing attitude. Would love to have dinner with him and talk guns, shooting and cop stuff. Better that i go to MO than he come back to Kalifornia. Lol. Thank you, gentlemen. Be well

@@fmgpubs Hi Roy. Thanks for the reply. Glad you are well and healthy. Enjoyed your work for many years now, and love the vids and shorts. The Bulberry barrel i was considering is a 38-55. I don't think T/C ever chambered it. I am probably going to hold off though. Give T/C some business and get a 45-70 and a buttstock and forend. I meant to put in my comment that even if they start with just 5 or 6 popular chamberings (14" 223 and 30/30, 22 LR, 357,44 mag, maybe 35 Rem; 45/70 and 223 rifle, etc), that would be a good start, get product out there, and generate revenue. Then after a bit they could resume the lower volume stuff- 32-20, the shorter handgun barrels you mentioned, etc. Good luck, reborn T/C! We eagerly await

My first Contender was the 10" .38/357 with the screw on choke for shot. Got it used in 1981 when I was in Jr-High School. Couldn't afford a new one, but I scraped together my allowance and had my dad buy it. Every Birthday or Xmas it was always the same question; "What caliber and barrel length do you want this time?" I was the only kid in my class who had a scoped pistol.

I own almost every TC, traditional, black powder variant that they produced. I hunt with them, all of them. I am in my seventies and started hunting with their products in the early 70's. Back in the day, if something went wrong, even if it was my fault, they fixed it or sent a part for free. I can not think of any firearm company that had their customer service attitude. Not one time in many phone calls was I ever lectured by a customer service parson, though I probably should have been. Great companies like TC need to be in business and hopefully, resurrect an old fashion American made product and customer service that is lacking in the country. Do it the way Henry does. Made in America, or not at all. We do not need any more Chinese junk sitting on store shelves.

Had an 06 (RH). Accurate, loved the erogos, only complaint afield was no locking safety (personal quirk). Tried to get new barrels from S&W, kept getting brushed off, always out of stock, so after a few years I sold it after a couple years and bought a used 06 push-feed model 70 I get that many felt it was a gimmick gun, but between the stock's feel and barrel's quality, it still stands out in my mind
