Gilmour is probably the coolest man ever! The guitar playing and the voice aside, terrific presence and charisma, evidently intelligent and very well-spoken. His self-possession on stage performing in front of massive crowds, on such elaborate Pink Floyd stages was so spectacular and arresting. What a man! The sort that grown ups hope to be when they grow up!

I’ll still never get why Gibson’s and fenders are priced so differently. They’re just as famous, just as iconic, just as good feeling. I love my Gibson’s but i dont think my es-339 is a guitar 1500 dollars better than my highway one strat with fralin pickups and a humbucker. In fact that $500 guitar and 250 dollar pickup set can do a lot more.

They've always maintained a clear identity as a band that stayed away from drugs. I think the trauma of having their friend and bandmate, Syd, figuratively lose his mind to drugs was impactful enough, not to mention him reappearing during the WYWH sessions as an unrecognizable figure. Anyone that suggests the band was drug induced, with the exception of Piper at the gates of Dawn, Syd's album, is a clear indication they are not educated in Pink Floyd.

I would hope david Gilmour and joe walsh would get a chance to meet. that would be a interview I would like to see. can you imagine it all started with bill haley and the comets with a simple song called rock around the clock??? anyway when david does his song "wish you were here" , I think of john lennon. how much the world misses him and needs him today. but you are all correct , in that we only have the eagles to compete with the beatles , Floyd , and zeppelin. they are all great.

Rick Wright's contribution has been overlooked by a lot of people. But I think it's impossible to do so on Dark Side of the Moon. I mean, not only is his playing very prominent on that, but his harmony vocals are scattered all over the album. In fact, I'd say that, vocally, he's as important to that album's success as the quartet of ladies who sing the other harmonies.

I was a diehard Zeppelin fan, but when I was 14-15 I found Pink Floyd and nothing else, musically, mattered. I thought I'd ride the Zeppelin again given time and distance, but as some are saying here, their music just doesn't age as well so to this day, their music oddly gives me nothing. I actually thought the same thing would happen Pink Floyd (and it did for a while) but now I am here again, enjoying their music with new/different ears and I'm just loving it.

I am a 21 year old Floyd fan, they are and have been my favourite band since the ages of 10 when my uncle gave me 'Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd'. See Emily Play got me hooked at that tender age and I haven't looked back since, I couldn't put into words how important this band is to me. They have literally been the soundtrack to my life, they have help me through the bad times and taken the good times to a completely new level. It makes me immensely sad that I will never see Floyd live...

I am 55, and I feel the same. Pink Floyd helped define my world view as I grew up. Their music got me through major dark times. A seed of hope planted in my soul. I had been through so much torment as a child that The Wall was instantly relatable, and I wondered "how they knew how I felt". It was their story, but somehow it was my story. And I will never see them live. I will never meet a single member. But, I did win tickets to the premier (back then that word meant something) of 'The Wall' in Portland, OR. No clue if there was a single song that hooked me: "One of these Days" - "Money".. I really liked "Brain Damage". "Comfortably Numb" though. As soon as I heard it... yea. That is so me. Even today, it is my anthem.

I’m 21 and some and some more and as ,much as I loved Floyd, especially live. The one thing that turned me off is when politics got involved in both the music content and the band members relationships. Roger became hard left and a bit of an activist, some may say anti Semitic and Animals was born out of an Animal Farm copy album, from then on I switched off a bit but appreciated the music without the underlying meaning. Religion and politics spoil everything. As for watching live they were almost studio perfect and not the best band to watch per se. Floyd is made for headphones, alone in a dark room. I

My advice (I played in a Pink Floyd Tribute band for years): 1) Get the DG-20 active pickups (shown in my moniker on my '79 strat) 2) Get a modified Blues Driver 3) Spend the $400 and get the Butler BK Tube Driver 4) Get an old Hiwatt 50W tube amp (mine is 1976) 5) Practice, practice, practice (I used Guitar Pro6 to learn the solos) 6) Repeat #5 until you die I've been complimented on my tone on many occasions. I don't claim to play as good as David or be even close, but if you put in the time to learn how to bend properly, and practice his music enough, then that setup will help you get as close as possible to his sound. Good Luck and Rock On!

I think ATD and RK would have been better musically, but I doubt Roger would have let any of DSOT or DB anywhere near the studio. By that time they weren't even talking or recording together so had Roger stayed IN the band, they would have had more of The Final Cut, which really doesn't sound much like Pink Floyd.

Rick's contribution, letś have the song David just played here "breathe" it was Rick who came up with that strange heavy jazz chord which makes the whole thing go "Whoa what was that?" Turns out that Rick was a big fan of the album "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis and Bill Evans who played Piano on that album had such chords and Rick went *Ding!*
