What a great review and a great video overall! I have the 64mm futura, and a 70mm viper. Always successful for the most part on my flights I was considering the viper 90 but this may have stolen the spot in my heart 😅

Thanks for the comments. Appreciate it a lot... This is a great plane.. I haven't had a chance to fly the 90 Viper, but hear its an outstanding plane too.. I like the Avanti look (not crazy about this color) vs the Viper 90.. I'm getting easy 5min flight times on a 6000 battery and super impressed...
@ficosk82 ай бұрын
I have those also. The 70 Avanti was awesome! But the 70 Viper too. So I got the 80 Avanti and now this 90 Avanti. I need to maiden both. I have also the Viper 90 that I haven´t maidened either. This hobby is by far the worst hobby I had. In the past I both an expensive bicycle and rode it for a couple of years. hahaha But going back to your question, I think I would prefer the Avanti 90 because it has the option of vector and landing will probably be easier for me now. Both Viper and Avanti probably can be flown heavies with 8S or 12S setups, both in my Hangar too :/ ...

Gary, She's a winner in my book.. Flies well, long flight times and lands easy.. Plus, its a real crowd pleaser at the field. She's just big.....
@jollyroger22262 ай бұрын
Very nice review ! She certainly seems to fly smoothly and is able to do great aerobatics. You covered all of the finer points real well ! I'm not sure, but it seemed like it was an effort to get her into a nose high angle and slow enough speed to touch down the way you wanted. I don't have this plane or even something close. But on my approaches - I find I like to get the throttle down early enough so that the plane begins to have a definite sink rate that will actually come to ground before getting to the runway. Then I add throttle and try to maintain a specific nose high attitude and throttle setting that will keep my altitude well enough to continue to the runway. ( In short - I try to get the plane nose high and at a slower speed earlier in the approach. ) For me, this seems to slow the whole thing down a bit and be less stressful for my landings. Don't know if this might help you or someone else - but hopefully so. Thanks for your great video !

@@jollyroger2226 thanks. Appreciate it. I spent a lot of time working on my landings. Slowing down early and add elevator and modulating throttle as you’re saying. Landing video on this plane forthcoming.

Yep... It took me a little practice, but I figured her out. Amazing how slow this big plane will fly without dropping a wing.. Landings are a walk in the park, now...

FMS sponsorship at 5k? Wow. makes me wonder if I could do it.

Sure you can. Just make videos that people seem to appreciate and your in.... Go for it.. You're only 4999 away.. Keep at it..😎

Why is it that nobody doing a review mentions the wire with the two exposed pins nor the extra connector that is found toward the back near the esc? Why are they there?
@SteffenRCАй бұрын
Hey Robert, The plug with exposed pins is power for an extra light, its output is 3.3v. The extra connector is for programming the ESC. Not sure why that info didn't end up in my video..
@RobertBarkusАй бұрын
@@SteffenRC awesome! I had to do some digging on the FMS page, found the Esc and finally the description of the wires. Thanks for the fast reply! Good day.

I really like this size and color to help me see it better. Especially on those base to final turns and approach. I can really see her.. Enables me to giver her the inputs she needs for a great landing..

Can you describe how you did your battery telemetry?
@SteffenRC2 ай бұрын
Sure. I have a handful of videos about this topic on the channel. But essentially you need the spektrum rx with the VOLT telemetry port. It will come with a cable. I remove the black wire and just connect the red wire into the red esc wire. Then setup VOLT in my telemetry settings and an "audio on switch" to call out battery voltage whenever I press that button. Allows me to fly longer if I want or shorter in case my battery isn't performing well.... Hope I answered your questions.
@ficosk82 ай бұрын
@@SteffenRC surely you have explained this on the videos and I neet to see those, but why is there a black wire (mass) if it isn´t needed? Or maybe for measuring with both packs the voltage of another pack (receiver etc) not connected to the Esc. Maybe for other aplications as turbines with turbine pack. Good my brain still works xD
@SteffenRC2 ай бұрын
No ground wire since the ESC powering the RX also. Horizon Hobby said to use only the red wire with that configuration. Not 100% sure, but I think I'd use the blk wire if the RX was being powered by a separate UBEC.

@SteffenRC2 ай бұрын
Yep.. Its pricey.. It's on par with the other 90mm sport jets out there. I really liked the size and performance, but spending $150 more than an 80mm is a tough call. (I'm lucky that FMS sent me this plane to review though)

@@SteffenRC BUT there´s a cheap way to try vector. And that on this very good Avanti platform. It´s not by coincidence there are so many Avantis after Sebart designed it. Good option for people wanting to fly big but can´t fly turbines on their field, for example :D

I'm waiting a little bit before I try to mess with the TV option.. But, you got me thinking about it...
@ficosk82 ай бұрын
@@SteffenRC that are around 50-60$ of thinking and half pounds more weight approximately. You can use a switch to activate it midair and turn it off again… that’s the way I’ll try when I’m ready. Today in the morning I opened my boxes. The TV fuselage looks very solid. Nice design. You see just one servo/ pushrod. The vertical one is behind the bottom fin :) I also got the 4075 motor/edf for 8S. That’s solid hardware 😆 It’s more efficient than the 3670 motor supposedly. But the packs should be bigger/heavier too. On hard runway super cool! 👌🏼 just saying…. Best wishes from Bavaria

@@SteffenRC super great review Will! What did you mean with old school look? The scheme? I liked it from the beginning. I´m half german and sportsman. For olympics and big competitions the yellow color of the flag is exchanged by gold. So this colors look cool for me :P Very nice depth review of the landing behaviour with nose up! I wouldn´t thought it would go that way. But as the airframes stall characteristics are good it goes super! Someday I´ll try it out too :D But first more training hours with the rest :PP
