Goodness gracious, what a scenery at 9:16 !!! Breathtaking these colors and that soil mist! I was just waiting for the Topgun score to kick in 😆 (and I appreciate you could resist in post processing). Superb camera work Heidi, I wonder when Hollywood will be knockin' on your door 😉. These butter landings with such a "heavy" beast and these tiny pushes on the throttle just at the perfect time to smoothen the touch-down is giving me goose bumps every time. Great job, Adam!

Thanks very much Alexander! Glad you enjoyed it. To be honest the pulsing of the throttle comes from all the 3D flying I've done. With a jet you can also use a more consistent throttle setting with less corrections...it is just a hard habit for me to break! Lol.

The right barrel roll to left turn over run way is one cold maneuver I want to fly like this one day
@AllanG19144 ай бұрын
What is that maneuver you do at 20:30 mark? You did it earlier too. It's a aileron roll, then elevator, cut throttle, then throttle, the cut. Is the cutting throttle to slow down the roll time? Thanks
@ModelAV8RChannel4 ай бұрын
That is an outside tumble. Inputs are similar to a crankshaft, and the burst of throttle intensifies the rotation.

Hi Adam, as always a very objective and superb review for the normal pilots :D Before I forget it, I´m a fan of Yowoo graphene blue packs. They are heavy, but they hold on really good the load without sagging so much. It´s strange but I can fly almost 3 min on the 2200 6S on my Freewing F-16 70mm, and that setup is much lighter. Back to your review, super! Your flying style is gorgeous and more with this bigger airframe. Just landing it giving throttle up and down isn´t so much my thing. I would prefer a more gentle throttle management but it´s only the sound. Those touch and goes are amazing :) Thanks a lot! PS: I would like also a small car like the Mustang xD xD hahaha

Extremely well flown. Your landings really are excellent to watch. I can hear you are bumping the thrust just prior to the flare and that is giving excellent results. Will you be reviewing the new FW 90 mm F16 V2? It is down to these two options for the next plane. You are the deciding factor !
@ModelAV8RChannel4 ай бұрын
Thanks very much! Those are some apples to oranges choices. Sport jet or scale jet. The sport jets are awesome to fly and a bit more user friendly, but the scale jets are great as well. I will say this...if it is a F-16 you want I've flown the older version of the FW, and hands down I'd have the E-flite 80mm over it any day. I haven't flown the new version though, but the lines/mold are the same, and it is less true to scale as far as outline. That said if you get a FW, I'd go with the 8s...they added details that add weight.
@stewm400driver4 ай бұрын
Yes, not a fair comparison for sure. The wing loading of the new V2 looks quite ominous and I have to decide if the beauty of scale flight outweighs the less stressful abilities of the 90 mm Avanti. Awaiting more landing footage from the FW.
@matthewsilicki60914 ай бұрын
You always have informative videos, but I also watch your videos simply because also like your first part of the flight demo that was awesome. Do you have a couple questions. How would you compare this overall to the E flight viper 90 mm assuming that you buy a similarreceiver that is in the Viper? Also, what are your thoughts on the suspension stiffness on this plane?
@ModelAV8RChannel4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. I've flown one 90 Viper, and it had someone else's set up on it. We have one ourselves now and I'm going to set it up for me with AS3X+ and I'll have a more accurate opinion then. I can tell you though...it will be very close. My buddies flew great and so does this Avanti. On the struts I see many commenting on that and some even speculating about how they will hold up over time in videos. I'm not one to speculate, I prefer experience and real world testing before I come to any conclusions. It looks weird rebounding that slow for sure. I've flown a few planes from FMS with the struts like that now, and so far in my takeoffs and landings from multiple surfaces I can't really tell a difference either way. Doesn't seem to help or hurt. If it is a help or hindrance in some way, it is so minuscule I can't see it. As far as how they will hold up over time...time will tell, don't know yet. These are the reasons I don't mention it in my reviews...in my experience there's nothing to tell yet.

Are you going to do a grass ops flight Adam?
@ModelAV8RChannel4 ай бұрын
We didn't do that because it was wet and I didn't want to have to clean it, lol. It is a large 90mm sport jet, we've flown UMX EDF's off that grass...the Viper will do fine from it.
@Truthstillmatters24 ай бұрын
I noticed you pumping the throttle as you landed… is that how you land all your sport edfs? Viper 90?
@ModelAV8RChannel4 ай бұрын
lol, Unfortunately yes, most of the time. Jockeying the throttle is a habit I formed flying 3D, and it isn't necessary to that degree with a EDF, but I get away with it because I'm good at it. A more consistent throttle setting on approach is easier and works just fine. It's a hard habit to break. Been flying a bunch of 3D planes lately sine AS3X+ came out...so breaking that habit with an EDF ain't going so well, lol.
@Truthstillmatters24 ай бұрын
@@ModelAV8RChannel I’ve always heard to land a plane on the throttle as opposed to trying to time the flare. I bring my Viper 90 in with about a little less than 1/4 throttle and sometimes I slow it up too much by pulling the elevator. I was thinking that pumping the throttle could help me avoid stalling…
@ModelAV8RChannel4 ай бұрын
You can certainly blip the throttle as needed. Tiny adjustments are a part of a good controlled approach. That said sometimes I jokey it more than necessary. Sometimes it sounds like I am ...but I'm making rudder corrections and those corrections are moving the throttle up/down very slightly. This was a crosswind...so that could be some of what you're hearing. Our mic intensifies every sound a good bit.
@ficosk84 ай бұрын
@@ModelAV8RChannel OK hahaha, but as I mentioned it´s just the sound. And why don´t do it if you like it and you CAN :))

Hi Adam, thanks for the excellent review and footage! I'd like to know how you compare it with the Freewing Avanti 80mm (I haveone, by the way). It seems to fly bigger and probably slower in terms of agility...your thoughts? Thanks
@ModelAV8RChannel4 ай бұрын
You pretty much hit the nail on the head. The 90 is faster speed wise, but a bit less responsive...although much smoother as you might expect from a bigger plane. To me, it is plenty responsive enough...I'll take bigger and smoother any day if I have the choice. Plus...5 min flight times are awesome with an EDF...especially with a 90. I love the 80, great jet and one of my favs. That said...it isn't in my hangar anymore, and this 90 will be. I can't sum it up better than that...

@ModelAV8RChannel thanks Adam! Personally, I think it's a shame that FMS did not implement some more plastic details all around the airframe (air intake, hatch borders, exhaust nozzle, wing tips, etc) which are becoming standard for big foamies and ensure durability and nice finish...but it's still a nice model 😉
@ModelAV8RChannel4 ай бұрын

Adam, obvious question, how does this big brother stack up to your beloved Avant S V2 80mm? My feelings, it feels like a friendly boat, not nearly as docile or fast as the 80mm. Any 80mm or 90mm EDF flying weight over ~7.5lbs begins to show its big belly. My Viper 90mm is less weight than my Avanti 80mm, both with 6000mAh.
@ModelAV8RChannel3 ай бұрын
Yeah man the Viper 90 can smoke the Avanti 90 in speed and vertical just because of the weight. The full paint job on the Avanti looks awesome, but adds a good bit more weight than folks realize. I think the speed is similar to the Avanti 80mm, but because the 90 is bigger the perceived speed looks slower. I'll know for sure in a bit...we're gonna test that, lol. The 90 Avanti is definitely more docile than the 80, but not as aggressive...which given the size difference makes sense. Slower roll/pitch/yaw rates. Some like the feel of that...the bigger plane feel, and some don't. I like both, depends on my mood really. The Viper 90 kinda kills both those birds with one stone. I have one now myself...with my personal set up. Boy does that make a difference. The one we flew in a fun flight a while ago belonged to someone else with a different set up. Now, when you use the TV on the Avanti 90...that opens a whole new can of worms. Very interesting, and a capability nothing else has for now.
