Used to make Models of the Typhoon in the 70's ... love this RC, gotta get one!
@daquino00217 жыл бұрын
Hi Rich! First off, I just wanted to say that was a great flight video! I was able to assemble my FMS Hawker Typhoon 1100mm last night. It was the easiest of the FMS models that I have to assemble. I was able to barely get to the 60mm CG. There is absolutely no way that I would be able to get to the manual's recommended 40-45mm CG (unless I added lead weights). A few folks at RC Groups have reported that they have flown this model with a 60mm CG with no issues. I had to get my 3S 2200mAh Lipo as far forward as possible (I can see the front end of the Lipo peeking through the chin scoop). I also had to place the ESC as far forward as possible, attached to the port wall of the fuselage via Velcro. The slideable battery tray is unobstructed and the ESC wires stay in place within the plastic motor mount. I'm also using a Lemon Rx DSMX Compatible 7-Channel with Stabilizer (Top Pin) Receiver with a Lemon Rx DSMX Diversity Satellite Unit. The Gyro Gains are currently set at: Aileron: 9:30 O'Clock Elevator: 10 O'Clock Rudder: 10 O'Clock Using a Spektrum DX8, all of my Control Throws have been measured and adjusted with a Deflection Gauge per the manual for High and Low Rates: Aileron: High Rate 75% / 30% Expo Low Rate 60% / 25% Expo Elevator: High Rate 70% / 30% Expo Low Rate 60% / 25% Expo Rudder: High Rate 80% / 0% Expo Low Rate 70% / 0% Expo The Prop and Spinner have been balanced to smoothness and the motor and surfaces all appear to be working in excellent order. My Flaps are set to a 2-second delay. I only have one question.. I could not find in the manual any recommended starting points for Mid and Full Flaps. May I ask what Flap Settings are you using?
@RCINFORMER7 жыл бұрын
I just eyeballed my flaps:)
@daquino00217 жыл бұрын
Ah, ok. Thanks for the response! You were right about how fast this plane slows down. Pretty much doesn't even need flaps, and I'm more comfortable using one setting as well.

Where do you have your Center Gravity? I tried at 60mm and its still very tail heavy...crashed it.
@RCINFORMER2 жыл бұрын
I would have to check but a general rule of thumb is the spar in the wing is usually where the CG is supposed to be-nose heavy flies again, tail heavy flies once! I would have to dig the model it and doublecheck for you but it won’t be this week unfortunately I’m so busy with everything at the moment-maybe start off with the CG 1/2” In front of where the spar runs through the wing and go from there. If you’re ever unsure of CG always go for “ nose heavy” 👍

no more than 50mm from the leading edge.

Another great video Rich, I love how you refuse to use a gyro-it helps to give a true indication of behaviors on take off/landing. Have been thinking of getting this,will wait until the shipping sorts itself out though.

Awesome flight review! Just wondering, did you set an elevator flap mix for this bird?

Finding that the CG is almost an inch behind the recommended spot. I am using a 3s 2200 as the manufacturer recommends. Not nervous to put it up as is.... Any thoughts?

Jus picked up one. Do you remember where the CG was? And did you have to add any weight to the nose before you flew her? She's a unique and pretty bird.

this one needed 2oz :)

@@RCINFORMER I know this was forever ago haha, but where did you put the weight exactly? I'm having a hard time finding where to add the weight

I just bought this one after watching your video. Good details on here. This would be my first flight on a rc warbird. What should be my take off speed?

Horizon hobby. Just got it today
@RCINFORMER4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure the exact speed, but enough so you have good control of the plane and enough speed to fly without advancing the throttle to quickly.

@@RCINFORMER thanks. This would be my first flight as a beginner. Hopefully goes well.

@@hamza3802 Thanks for getting it after watching my channel... It is a great airplane! Unfortunately for me I did not have a affiliate link on my video for you to use as I just began to use these links. I just now added these links to the video. If you use my links to purchase, we do get a small commission for the sale and it does really help us out:) Thanks! Rich

Hi Rich, a beautiful bird indeed. Could you please confirm what qas the cg you used? You added 2oz with a 3S 2200mah right?

Sweet! I've always been a fan of the Typhoon. I'm wondering if opening the radiator scoop and putting in some mesh would help with the drag issue.

On the pre-order list for one. Would it handle a 4-cell battery, 2200 if the ESC is upgraded to 45 or 65?
@RCINFORMER8 жыл бұрын
It probably would, you just want the battery to be relatively thin... I put in about 2oz in the nose so the extra weight will probably be fine... I will be launching another video demonstrating the features of this plane.

I had to use a lot of weight to achieve CG OF 45. This was after using a 45 ESC and a 4-cell, 2200 battery. It is just a little nose heavy now, which is the way I like my planes.

Rick, I just got one QC not there. Clear tape, Surface of the model has dents etc. I know the one you tested seemed to be of better quality. Maybe you can say something to FMS on this one. O don't know if I will keep it.

I received mine yesterday and the quality is poor. The underside of the wing where the servo wires exit was taped with clear plastic tap, which is really ugly and a mess. There are dents and mold release scuffs. I am going to return and avoid FMS products for a while. I also ordered the Pilatus and can only hope the quality will be some what better. FMS increased their prices with no apparent improvement in quality.
