One reason I do like blue Bonnie is that it makes the way he fits the default group more interesting once we take classic primary colors into consideration. So, the classic primary colors in painted art are red, yellow and blue. Foxy is red, Chica is yellow, and Bonnie is blue. Where does Freddy go? Once you mix together red, yellow and blue... you get brown! Freddy's main color!

While he may be intended to be blue, he's still often appeared with hints of purple up to this day. In UCN he retains his purplish color, as well as Withered Bonnie now sharing a similar purplish tone. HW Withered Bonnie is full purple despite his coloring in FNaF2 and HW having recolored the original Bonnie to blue. AR has a near purple Bonnie as well, and most recently, Bonnie in the Into the Pit game is also quite purple in color, and that game only came out about two months ago. Although blue may be the intention, it seems like purple making its way in there isn't going to stop anytime soon. Maybe the real answer is that it's kind of both, and that Scott's answer is just a simplification. A shade somewhere between blue and purple, likely meant to lean closer on blue. That bridge between blue and purple can be difficult to differentiate, hence fighting over the specifics and often compromise of something like indigo.

If anything it feels like blue is what he thinks as the primary color, but doesn't care what kind of blue specifically, leaving us with anywhere from cyan with Toy and Glamrock Bonnie to the often purple hinted original. Cyan, purple, and everything in-between are all part blue and therefore technically still able to be considered as blue even if that's not how someone would normally refer to colors.
