I like how you don't necessarily develop your draft ideology like LS does but you at times come to similar conclusions because of your analysis but it's very clear to see the differences in how you proccess these things. There are options you are also considering because of players and because of things you've seen before. Thanks for the video.

So much great knowledge! Is it attributed to experience in other video games like Starcraft 2, card games? It's great to see this crossing of knowledge between games in a discussion of strategy and how each game differs in their perspectives around them.

I would disagree that every champ is stronger if they run into you with champs like zoe for example The less the enemy engages the better for you BUT maybe I misunderstood what he meant
@46JCK Жыл бұрын
Right there with you. I think he saved himself with the "there's almost no", and the assumption that he's only talking about champions that pros will play. Seeing as I immediately went, WELL as a Xerath, I don't think you like being engaged on. I can think of plenty of champs that are like this. lol I feel like you need to look at it like there are plenty of champs that don't want the ACTUAL engage but like when people are moving into range to engage. That's how I'm interpreting what he's saying.
@darrenfleming7901 Жыл бұрын
I think Yamato meant more that controlling space is only valuable in league because it means you can hit people that come into it, or at least threaten to in a way that the opponent has to take into consideration. So in that sense fog of war is valuable because it negates range advantage and the enemy has to respect that you might be there, so you can control space without actually being there because the enemy can't risk you being there. So to your point about artillery mages, they still need the target to be in range of their abilities to have any value. The ideal situation for Zoe for example is for a champ to sit at the edge of her range, but that's not gonna happen because the other champ needs to get you in their range to do anything, and the time they spend closing the gap is to your advantage because you are free hitting while they can't do anything yet, which is what Yamato means by running into you. The strength of a champ's engage is measure by how well they can close that gap, in other words how much they can limit your opportunity to free hit while they gap close. And so champs that need to close that gap will be stronger once they've closed it because they need to compensate for the damage you got in free hitting, which is how champs are balanced out in general.

But what about Pepsi? I think Pepsi into Azir is a pretty interesting matchup that works well into the enemy team, but it might still suffer from the team Pepsi current has.

Might actually be the reasion for the syndra ban. Syndra is usually the control mage that can deny the shuffle with scatter the weak. Therefore fnatic might have wanted to go for azir, not expecting Perkz to go for it and therefore leaving an uncountered azir open and gambling on that. Vitality simply read that i assume. Or maybe it was just int ^^

1:00 yes but there is no point of drafting a theoretical draft is it's useless, unless for getting likes and views on youtube. A draft must take into consideration the players. If a player doesn't know how to play e.g. Gragas then you don't pick Gragas regardless if it is or not a good component in the theoretical draft.
@adrenalice7827 Жыл бұрын
My guy not every coach will know what all players can or cannot play. It's just theory crafting. You can hypothesize how a draft could work against another draft and how you'd think matchup would play out.
@Roric_The_Red Жыл бұрын
L take not even listening to why they are doing this.
@darrenfleming7901 Жыл бұрын
Yes obviously a draft needs to take into consideration the players, but that doesn't change the reality that champion pool limitations objectively make the draft worse. Whether a team chooses a sub optimal pick because of a bad read on the meta or because the player concerned can't play the optimal pick, won't change the outcome. You can judge a draft as being objectively bad while admitting that the coach couldn't have done better when considering the champs they "couldn't" pick, but the inability to draft better doesn't make the draft not bad, which is kind of the entire reason that LS places so much value on champion pool and the ability to learn new picks.
@Omegateck16 Жыл бұрын
these player are getting paid a crap load of money and they cant even play half of the champions in this game?
@rivehnchan4169 Жыл бұрын
I hope you never complain about a good/bad draft then because every coach in the world is literally drafting for their player's strengths. So not a single concept of good drafting can be considered if your players can't play a champ in draft. You think Nightshare saw gragas xayah and was like, yep Vi looks good, when in reality it was more like Vi is easier to play for my player and a strong champ lets pick it. Like this mindset is what leads to these bad drafts, and you need to be able to break your own view and re-consider the use of draft not as a obstacle to the game but a form of leverage to gain advantages in game. A theoretical draft therefore has so much value because it teaches you the tricks to gaining an advantage, and yeah meta-read and player strengths on the day affect that, but the fundamentals don't change. I don't think people read patch notes for rock-paper-scissors right?
