I think the entire premise is overlooked by Buck. He wants to be a nobody. Not even a "gray man". He doesn't work out at home because he doesn't want his wife or family to assume anything. He chooses to be emasculated to continue another layer of being a nobody. He doesn't want a cache of weapons. He doesn't want to totally destroy the intruders because he knows that would raise too many questions. All this yet he is still confident in his skills that he doesn't need anything when needed.
@joker10872 жыл бұрын
thought the same thing. he’s at odds with keeping his identity a secret but also trying to suppress that side of him is making him miserable but he knows for his family sake he has to even at his own expense. The home intruder part was him knowing they’re not a threat and he can control it if it gets out of hand and if he did anything it would alert his family to his identity and anyone he’s hiding from (or just risking the life he’s made for himself)

It's not really a rip off of John Wick. It has the same writer from John Wick and the producer, David Leitch, was one of the directors on John Wick. It's more of a sub genre of It's own now. The retired, middle aged former action guy that is forced to use his old skills to kick ass. If you look at what they write and produce, a lot of it has the same elements. Middle aged actor takes on the role of middle aged, retired action guy being forced to bring out the skill set one more time.

@Pandabeer78652 жыл бұрын
The reason he grabs a golf club and not a gun is because it’s supposed to show how in the beginning of the film he’s so disconnected from his past self that he doesn’t want anything to do with guns and is trying extra hard to avoid violence, hence when he yells at his brother in law for playing with the tac 45, then throughout the film he surrenders to the fact that violence is a part of who he is hence the speech to the dead home invaders midway through

@@jeebugorn I believe that with his skillset and experience, Buck would indeed have the ability and the cool nerves to confirm his target before shooting. But most people have never shot someone, they have never been in a life-or-death situation, and if they THINK they're in a life-or-death situation, their adrenaline will spike. Their hands will shake. Their heart will be pounding in their ears. All kinds of horrible scenarios will run through their heads. They will panic and shoot the first thing they see moving. That's how guys accidentally shoot their own kid who came home from college a day early for Thanksgiving. That's when you go from right place to a real WRONG place! Spartans held off the Persians so long because of superior training, dedication and this same battle terrain (tunnel/carving trail through a steep mountain on the ocean and it wasn't until they flanked them (not the arrows in the movie) that they lost the battle!! If you can keep the men in front of you and funneled towards you so you are really only facing one maybe two men at a time, it creates better odds! You're still taking your lumps and only walking away if you're incredibly tough, trained or skilled but nonetheless you're taking a lot of damage lol.

I don't think that's something you lose (although I do say this as someone who has never served, and never owned a gun)

You guys are killing me!!!!!! C’mon man!!!! Hutch is retired! His family doesn’t know about his past. He decided to keep his family in the dark for their protection. I think the bracelet being the thing that "activates" him does make sense if you look at it as being the last straw. All those things leading up to it he was barely holding back and then when he realizes they stole his daughters bracelets it's kinda like "You know what? Fuck it" it's not that he didn't care about the other stuff, it's that he was barely containing himself after all that and the bracelet was just that one step too far. He doesn't want to be a super badass anymore, he doesn't want his family to know he ever was, but everything in his life is just making it more and more difficult to keep that side of himself hidden. We've all hit our breaking point over stupid little things, it's not just that little thing that has set us off it's just the last straw. Though I doubt anyone reading this had it culminate in a killing spree, probably just yelling at someone. lol
