These are a great budget tool. I had a couple of rewards recently having it on hand as a field service tech, quickly identified a noisy power supply rail in a wall mounted plc, and a second job tracking the location of a bus fault from a damaged connector, both within the first two days of owning it. I have bigger scopes and more serious test gear, but this easily fits in the pocket along with my meter and makes a great basic tool and won't break the bank if lost or blown up. Next version I hope they do 1uS for about 2mHz, but even with the limitations it's excellent value..

Thanks, I just got mine in this mornings mail, picked it up on Amazon for 30 bucks with shipping. It appears to be much better then my old "kit" toy scope I built, well I did two of them and neither are even close to the quality and functionability of this little gem. I am impressed with it, and I think it will do all I want to do in my little hobby 'fix it' old transistor radio repair and 'build it' for out local ghost busters outfit here in town that is headed by my niece.

Thanks for the review. Nice that they kept the price similar to the DSO150, though the interface may be better on the 150 as it has direct buttons and a knob; I dislike minimized interfaces where you have to make 10 button presses to get what you want. I also wish the 152 had kept the standard BNC connector as the mini connector is fragile and the heavy adapter/probe combo can get knocked off; this will be especially cumbersome when using the tilt stand. Even still, I think this is a nice alternative to the DSO150 as the 152 includes a rechargeable battery. It's important to remember that the DS0138 and DSO150 don't come with a power source. They need an external 9V source, though the 150 can be modified to add a battery, boost regulator, and charging module inside the case. The internal battery alone makes the DSO152 the better value. I wish that the measurements had been left on screen when testing bandwidth in order to see how accurate the voltage is. The waveforms look good enough for this type or scope and will be fine for working with audio bandwidths.
@TechCornerTV
@TechCornerTV Жыл бұрын
Hi, I get what you're saying an tend to agree, the DSO150 was great in terms of the points you mentioned, but haf two/three issues that were anoying. The battery was not default, for such a small device it should be. You can hack it to add battery, but it is always a hack. Second the BNC connector is more standard, also agreed, but on the other hand it was a pain in the a$$ because it completelly was out of the shell, the same with the know and I love that know! But in terms of keep it stored, is always out. I think they tried to solve that with this version. They had other models (more expensive) with differente solutions, as an example you have the DSO PRO, but it isn't never there. This one is not perfect, but I do think it's halfway to the useness you had in the DSO150. Regarding the measurements, it was my fault! I don't know how I missed that... really sorry, that was kind of the most important and I sliped that one, really sorry. Thanks for watching an your comment!

Does this device record sudden voltage spikes? Sorry if this question sounds foolish. I bought a buck converter, many of them have a bad reputation of spiking voltage upon disconnecting the input. I want to check this theory with this device.

Very informative. Helped me to quickly master the DS0-152, which is a great little DSO at a very reasonable price Also liked the breakdown and the component analysis. Agreed it needs more bandwidth, but for the price, it's a nice tool to have. On another note, in single trigger mode I saw some odd behaviors, it triggered but only displayed part of the waveform and filled the rest of the display with noise. Can you do a follow-up on this and explain this behavior and share some "tricks of the trade" for getting single trigger to work properly?

Yes, absolutely you can take it for 100Khz, but if you want something with more power and just a bit more money, take a look in the channel videos of oscilloscopes, I have a lot of options/reviews where I cover cheap oscilloscopes, some will go to 100Mhz with signal generator and TV output and the cost is just a few bucks more. Hello Hugo, I really liked the FNIRSI DSO152 review. Thank you so much! I have ordered one and am really looking forward to it. You are absolutely right, 200kHz is a pretty miserable bandwidth, but the DSO152 is so small and practical (just pull it out of the bag and use it, no setup required), and it will probably work absolutely fine for what I mainly will use it for: - observing 9600bd TTL, RS232 and RS485 signals - observing the voltage waveform on TRIAC controlled loads (phase-cut and full-wave phase-parcels) - visualizing input and output signals of industrial PID loops. Do you have a good enough connection to FNIRSI that you could ask them for a schematic and/or service manual for the DSO152? I love to have schematics and documentation for as much of the gear I own as I can...

Thanks for this review, Ive been looking at the FNIRSI DSO152 for quite awhile but you have helped with my decision quite a bit. The aeswave uScope boasts of a 12-bit analog/digital converter, how does this compare to the DSO152 ? Any thoughts on that ?
@TechCornerTV
@TechCornerTV 7 ай бұрын
Hi Thomas, you can't compare with uScope, I went to see it and it costs $429 against $30 or so. You have what you pay, if you pay $30, is a $30 oscilloscope that you get. Generally speaking 12-bit adc is much better for signal analysis, the latest bench scopes all have 122-bit adc and it shows in the displayed waveforms. Thanks for watching.

Hi, the prices float a lot, both Siglent and Rigol have the E versions that are normally around the $300 that either of them will be a nice option. After that we enter the Hantek DSO2x1x and Owon DSO1102/04 area. Bellow $300 I will go with Owon for accuracy or Hantek for a more complete solution. Thanks for watching!

Hi Andy, I really started laughing out loud when I saw your comment... they could put some juice on this oscilloscope, they have small ones like the DSO PRO with 3 and 5Mhz, so they could "import" some of the components to this one... it will increase the price $1 or $2, but it will be a totally different device. Zeeweii still is leading with theirs mini oscilloscope with 18mhz and function generator.... this was a missed chance. With that said, I stand for what I said that, if you're low on cash and just want an oscilloscope to study and learn how it works, this one is very compact and easy to use. Thanks for watching!

@MagnusKoldau
@MagnusKoldau Жыл бұрын
The DSO152 has a normal input impedance of 1MOhm. This is pretty much the standard input impedance with all oscilloscopes. If you need for a measurement a higher input impedance, e.g. 10MOhm, you can use a switchable probe 1x/10x in the 10x position. It will present to the object under test a 10MOhm input impedance, i.e. what you need.

The fact is, everyone expects high sensitivity specs, but very few ever need to use those specs. For an O'scope, most just need to know if there is a signal present because we are signal tracing. Unless you're an EE designing and inspecting your circuits, there is little use for high sensitivity measurements.

I just about found the imformation I wanted that wasn't availlable elsewhere ( here ). 50/60 Hz sine. It looks possible. A very typical requirement. 50 Hz hum when a capacitor is weak. Or ground loops. I must say the DSO 152 is as clear or clearer than many expensive scopes. I find a scope like this often will show a problem even when in theory it can't. For example a full screen at 200 kHz might say 5 MHZ oscillation. One can only say above 200 kHz and certainly a problem. Good enough. An amplifier problem perhaps with defective Cdom collector to base on driver stage.

Hello, if the frequencies you're analyzing are up to 400KHz, yes it is. Thanks for watching.

I watched the video but can't figure out how to adjust the variable baseline or trigger
@TechCornerTV
@TechCornerTV 9 ай бұрын
Hi, what you mean with the baseline, you want to set the time division or just move the waveform in the screen. In terms of the trigger, you have to move the highlight cursor until it reaches the arrow on the right of the screen, them move it up and down. Thanks for watching!

Can I use it to find data and clock signal of mobile phone cpu?
@TechCornerTV
@TechCornerTV 6 ай бұрын
Hi, it depends of the frequency of the clock signal, if it is within the 500Khz supported by this oscilloscope, it will be able to draw the waveform and detect the frequency. If it is over, you will probably need something that is able to analyze megahertz. Thanks for watching.

Hi, I tend to agree with you, especially if you are starting and want to understand what an oscilloscope is for and how to use it. If is useful, you can always sell that one and buy a better one. Thanks for sharing and for watching.

Hi, sure but it depends on what you're testing. If the frequency is up to 200Khz (100Khz garanteed) you are good to go. Thanks for watching!

Hi, agree. And if you need a bit more juice on it, you can always go for the DSO-153 that is still very cheap and sell that one. Thanks for watching.

That's not exactly swift for a 2023 model, even if it's an entry-level pocket scope. The sample rate falls behind the built-in ADCs of budget MCUs like the STM32G431 series, which can handle 4 MSPS at 12 bits (max 6.66 MSPS at 6 bits) in single mode. And, you've the option to interleave ADCs to increase the sample rate (2x or 3x).

Hi, sorry the late reply, trying to keep up with the comments, not easy. You're right, sometimes I also find hard to understand some of the decisions behind those devices, but even so, I can tell you that is a sales success. Thanks for watching.
