One of the best songs I’ve ever listened to, lyrics and music are just perfect. Birch tree is related to Berkana, a viking rune, it honours Odin’s wife Freia, the god of springtime, birth, fertility and regeneration. This song is about childhood, memories, the past, which is followed by a new beginning in the endless cycle of life represented by “a river”. Spiritual evolution for you all lovely Foals fans, peace! ☮️

Love this. Foals never cease to impress. One of my favourite bands ever, and I think probably the best post 2000 band as well. I have depression but it’s an absolutely unique song. Foals is my favorite current band but seeing them live on a psychedelic was one of the greatest nights of my existence.
