🥚Jackie and Shadow are letting go of their unhatched eggs and continue their incubation withdrawal process. On 4/11, one egg was broken and disappeared in the bowl. It is unclear if there was any development inside. On 4/13, Jackie consumed at least one remaining egg (no signs of development). The last (third) egg may or may not still remain in the nest (hidden in fluff).
We have no way of knowing why the egg did not hatch. It could be environmental, such as temperatures, humidity percentages, oxygen levels at high altitude, etc. It could be biological with something just being off at the time the eggs were created. It is very unlikely that either Jackie or Shadow are infertile since they have already had 2 sets of chicks together - in 2019 and 2022.

What a wonderful and sweet surprise to see them both in the nest again! They were both ready for their close ups! The ending of this video was beyond heart warming. I'm glad they're getting to spend time together now, after all they've been through. J & S are much more resilient than most of us gave them credit for. This made my day. ❤🦅❤️🦅

One thing we can count on. Jackie seeing S on way to nest with a fish--and she knows who it's for. Her delightful cries ring out from her on the fly to the nest--something,it seems, many never tire of hearing Eggs come and go--some hatch into Eaglets and fledge into beautiful adult Eagles, but closer to something being eternal is Shadow's love for his mate and her heartfelt expression for it by a simple act of bringing a fish to the Nest. Years to go in a Nest Life--and many adventures before them to experience in that time. Thanks for Posting Cali.

My heart weeps for them, nothing is guaranteed in this world. Here in Colorado, the eagles are suffering due to hunters killing the prairie dogs off with no understanding that their killing off our resident population of golden eagles via starvation... ignorance. The life cycle is breaking on the western slope..my heart is sad. Hope everyone figures it out sooner than later...

This is my 3rd hatching season. I was thrilled to experience Spirit in my 1st season. I remain thrilled to watch Jackie & Shadow for the story to continue. Three eggs was an excitement!! The eagle pairs' devotion & fidelity is precious to watch!! Seeing the real life nature of J & S, the nest, and their behaviors is AMAZING!! I need joy in my life. I am so happy our local tv channel reported on Jackie and shadows egg watch and even though sadly their eggs did not hatch it has been a blessing to so many people on these comments to watch their journey and in some way unites us with love for them and that is Gods blessing for us all . Yeah, taking a look at them, you can see that Shadow’s crop is bulging - which means it’s full of food - whereas Jackie’s does not. Even after eating, Jackie looks like she could do with another fish or two. I’m wondering if that stiffness in her right claw is impeding her ability to catch food for herself. 🤔

🦅 there might be an updraft pushing more cold wind up under the nest, so the eggs could have been made cold on the underside, perhaps the nest could be more insulated in the center by Shadow and Jackie keeping busy building their nest with each other 🐣
