The gnome is no longer alone. A series of unique tree sculptures have been commissioned by the Burn of Fochabers Woodlands Community Trust as part of its role in managing the woods for the enjoyment of all.
At the moment, there are currently three new carvings on the upper section woodland walk, all with connections to the village. You will find them between Ordiquish Road and the campsite.
Owls, a kingfisher and a heron with salmon swimming up the tree have all been created by local chainsaw sculpture artist Garry Shand and have been the subject of delight to many children who frequent the woods.
We already had a gnome carving in the woods created with the support of Scottish & Southern energy. This proved very popular with the local children and pupils from the adjacent Milnes Primary School who use the woods with their teachers on a weekly basis.
