another fun fact, Arabic might be the official language of Egypt but it's not the only native language of the country, we have the Coptic language which very much what it is left from ancient Egyptian written in Greek letters and used for religious purposes in the Coptic orthodox church, the is the Nubian language, the native language of the Nubian race in the south of Egypt (p.s Nubians are the nicest people in the world and there culture is amazing, and finally we have the Berber language of the Berber tribes of Siwa oasis and Sahara desert.

@@jtadros16 you said they used coptic as a first language until 18th century , what a lie !? go home liar, coptic language is already an extinct language from the times of the romans when the christians (who their descendants pretend to be the copt of nowdays) themselves ousted and persecuted the egyptian pagans who preserved what used to be the native language of egypt, what they present now in the church as coptic is in reality greek language, and the native language of 99% of the egyptian people including the christian themseleves is arabic, the lay christian egyptians don't even understand the coptic church texts, these are the facts.

I went to Egypt in December last year. I had heard so many negative things about chaos and scams in Cairo, but I found it an amazing city. It's very walkable with lots of nice places, and people are very kind and respectful to tourists. I did meet some scammers, yes, but they are very obvious scams, impossible to fall for. Use Uber to roam around the city and you'll have a great time! The only negative thing was the freezing temperatures at night, without any heating in the hotels.

I lived in Egypt for several years (not Egyptian). It was a very.... interesting experience. Not always the most pleasant, but still interesting. The differences in cultures is astonishing, even though I'm from Syria (a nearby country). It made me -for the first time ever- appreciate travel and hope to visit other cultures and countries around the world sometime in the future.

+Ariesticnig I bought a real green screen, but it`s a cheap one. I think the screen itself was $20 or something. The stand was another $50 and the 3 lights I use came to around $200. Then I edit with Sony Vegas. I still need to learn more about lighting. Some of the problems with the focus in my videos seem to be because of lighting. Also, I have deep set eyes and I can look like a skeleton if I light my face from the wrong angle.

As a huge fan of both ancient and modern Greece, l am always telling that in ancient Egypt, women were much freer than in Greece. lt is also interesting to note that in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, in the large section on ancient Egypt, an excellent exhibit consists of a series of several ancient models of workshops, including a slaughterhouse; this shows that the system of animal slaughter considered "sacred" in both Judaism and lslam was actually simply the ancient system prevalent in ancient times in the entire Middle East.

Good video! I love both of your channels! :) Two remarks though: 1/ In Egypt there are also minority religions like Baha'i faith, in addition to non-believers (atheists, agnostics, deists, freethinkers, etc) 2/ There are some Egyptians who would disapprove of the use of the word "Arab" to refer to themselves and to their fellow countrymen, and would say that they are only Egyptians, descendants of the ancient civilization builders, with minor genetic mix with other populations. As far as I know this is more accurate historically.

In fact ,the Egyptian people never changed or left their land... occupations in Egypt were just replacing the rulling class not the locals and nubia is completely different in term of race and civilization from Egypt in ancient times but ironically the so called esiopians are a great mix of subsaharrans, Indians and arabs that is why their facial features,skin color and hair are different from other subsaharran countries people..so the Egyptians are native north africans but the so called EsiOpians today are just old immigrants or settlers..thanks.....

Are the current people of Egypt related any way with the those of the ancient civilization of Pharaoh? Just curious because I read somewhere that they are Arabs who conquered the land and took it over. Maybe they are mixed?
@malqalla75178 жыл бұрын
You can't wipe out a whole population and replace it , can you ? :D ,Plus Arabs didn't do any massacres when they conquered Egypt. Invasions can affect the population but to a certain extent. So to directly answer your question they are surely related but the population was mixed with others like Greeks,Turks, Arabs, But mostly you will hear about Arabs just because the Egyptians accepted their religion (Islam) and their language (Arabic) which paved the way for easy mixing with them than any other invaders. You can even find some relation in the mentality ! In which most of Egyptians till now indirectly thinks very high of their rulers and the army thinking them as Demi Gods :P
@gilad_paz8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it very much. Personally I find it difficult to believe that an invasion and a conquer by foreigners happens peacefully, calmly and with dignity. And that people simply just accept a different religion and a language as a whole group simply because they are so impressed that they are willing to relinquish their own heritage and identity with such ease and delight. It makes for a nice story though. After searching KZbin I also found such claims of Muslims about the Arab invasion of Spain, and so many other places, as if it involved no bloodshed. Others claim much the opposite with documentation and evidence. Not that the Arabs are any different then so many other invaders and conquerors of other places and in different times.
@sarahelsayed12938 жыл бұрын
I can refer to genetic studies that show great similarity to ancient mummies DNA amongst modern day Egyptians but I think the best answer is a trip to Upper Egypt and comparing the people you meet to faces on temples :) on the other hand, I think the notion that ancient Egytians are essentially a totally different race from other Arabs is unfounded. Egyptians genetically are 85% "white" and 15% African, and prehistoric migration waves have a lot to do with the mix of origins in this region
@gilad_paz8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your explanation. I didn't understand though. On the one hand you say that the ancient Egyptians DNA is similar to modern Egyptians', and that they are not different then other Arabs. But on the other hand you say that modern Egyptians are "85% White" and "15% African", neither or which are the middle eastern Arab ethnic type. So are they of Arab ethnicity or not? And were the ancient Egyptians Arab or not? When I look at their faces I see that they are different then Moroccan, Yemen, Iraqi, Iranian etc.. each of which have distinct stereotypical look and traits. Egyptians do have a distinct look, but still Arab as far as I can see, which makes me assume that there has been some sort of invasion and conquest, overtake and migration sometime in the past, as has happened in other places. Maybe not the whole population has been shoved out, but many outsiders have been moved in.
@sarahelsayed12938 жыл бұрын
without going into a lot of technicalities, the way genetic testing is generally carried has been using 4 key racial groups that differ in their "age", African being the oldest and thus the one with most variation. There was no "template" for Arabs or middle easterners in the original tests that are widely used. I am not sure there is such a pure Arab ethnicity outside of the Arab penninsula (yemenis especially), So what I am saying is Egyptians are closer to white races (of Asian origins) than African , same as other Arabs. You can see the clear difference between upper Egypt olive skinned people and the more African Nubian or Sudanese further south. Still there is a lot of variability with Egypt and the whole region. For example the blue eyed Egyptians in the north might have been mixed with invadors from central asia about 4000 years ago or by later invasions up the french in 1798. It is a complex region with long history, and as eager as some Egyptians to say they are not Arabs but Pharoas, and Lebanese to say they are Phoenicians etc, the reality is no Arab invasion in the region would ever be able to wipe out a whole ethnicity without a genocide or mass expulsion which happened to Arabs, Muslims and Jews in Europe but not in the region (the Jewish migration to Israel in 20th century is a point of debate but most would agree was largely voluntary and they were small minorities in those communities to begin with)

For this reason, I thumb down you. The second time I went to Egypt, I lost my wallet with my green card in it. I was so happy when that Egyptian guy who found it did everything so I get back my wallet. He told me he knew how important to me all those documents in my wallet. Also, my money was in tact inside my wallet. Not a penny was lost. So please don't create a stigma that there are scams in Egypt. There are none. And with those pushy vendors, they have of be pushy because it's their only source of livelihood. Some tourists are not considerate enough to buy one or two piece of presents.
