"Controlling your emotions." is HUGE! Even if you are busting on the inside, refraining and understanding who/what you're dealing with will spare you so much grief. I have a strong reaction to defend myself which seems very reasonable, however certain people and situations need your moment of pause. The "moment" needs your grace (not necessarily the person offending you). I have learned a million different ways of how to communicate with others, but also know, some people are dedicated to misunderstanding you and they don't ever want to see your side of things. You only hurt yourself when you fight that. There is also something called "compassion fatigue". A lot of people in the healthcare field can suffer from it. But essentially everyone you engage with is struggling or they are at the worst part of their life. This can and will break you down no matter how much you are willing to care and help others. We don't need robots or apathetic people in the healthcare field... but you can be crushed by the emotional demands of others much less the overwhelming personal stories of others. There is SO much suffering in the world. You have to know yourself and guard yourself appropriately. I think one of the things that isn't talked about as much is narcissists can inspire suicidal ideation in their victims. Again, separation from a trauma bond and the the horrific and horrible things they say and do, can certainly cause people to crack. Not to mention the stress of the times we live in. Control what you can. You may not have a plan for the next 6 -12 months and that's "okay"... if you allow yourself to heal, inspiration will find you...and if you just make it through today that's alright too.

This is a very powerful and wise video. The growing and the boundaries lessons are not easy to learn but wholly beneficial. Whilst I am healing well, 4 months post narcissistic relationship, I’m happy to admit that yes, sometimes it does feel lonely but as soon as I am aware of those feelings, I get up and do something! It may not be anything exciting but it’s the fact of being able to do whatever you please, whenever you want and as soon as you’ve done it, you feel so much better. Today I cleaned out my entire garage and did the gardening- not exactly exotic but my sense of achievement afterwards felt like I’d won the lottery! I was so proud to think this is my home I’ve built for me and my children and I’ve done it all by myself. Be proud and blessed with everything you have and it doesn’t matter if you don’t have a romantic relationship, just knowing who you are and learning to love yourself is the most important relationship post narcissist. 💙🙏💙

And it is better to feel lonely than be in a bad company..it will only dishearten you and ruin the progress you made..I am happy to see that more and more people are doing extensive work on themselves..we all need this..no matter what kind of story we have 😊🐾❤

I once read a wise saying: “You can choose people who inspire you, or ones who drain you. Choose wisely.” As I have grown older, I realize the importance of these words. As empaths, we are fountains-endlessly overflowing. Narcissists are drains that are incessantly draining and sucking every bit of life and energy from us. When you have dried up, they are gone, and we are left shells of ourselves. It takes weeks, months and years to get that semblance of yourself back. I look at him now and his life is the train wreck he has created…and I move on.

The narsscasist and their enablers are targeting our self-esteem and reliant on a reaction. The trouble I found with going grey rock whilst in a Narsscasistic relationship is that the Narcissist knew I was doing this and became more persistent and I found myself explaining my distance was because I had things on my mind which was true, I was wishing that he would just shut up and on other occasions I was planning to leave. Nobody whom I associate with now, blows up my telephone and if anyone makes unreasonable requests the answer is a simple no without explanation. Stay blessed and thank you for everything you give.

@@christine11347 some people are absolute liberty takers and just three months ago a known narsscasist whom I'm loosely associated with approached me and apologised for being mean to me in the past. Before I knew it he gave me a sob story, told me that he wasn't happy where he was living and felt unwell and needed somewhere comfortable to sleep and somebody to look after him which involved proving food, cooking his meals doing his laundry ect... As with most narsscasists it's difficult to get a word in so I allowed him to babble on for a spell and he was delighted to tell me several times that he would contribute £50 per month towards my bills which equates to £1.64 per day. I was very tempted to say much more than "no" but I felt this was enough. This man is an absolute con artist and he even once conned a highly qualified clinical psycologist to look after him. Thanks, Andrew, for this video. When the circumstances require you to stay for a finite period-of-time, I am realising that it is valuable time lost choosing not to live your life in the meantime. I allow for sorrow and heartache because I have endured 20 years of being an extension of someone else and experienced a very cruel discard. Grief, sorrow, joy and happiness can exist at the same time. I choose this! Time is an interesting thing, and it can allow things to unfold that you never thought could be possible. Living in the moment and not projecting too far into the future is the way through for me. Creating the flow for goals going forward can be done in your mind, through positive actions in the here and now and by taking small steps. I am truly grateful for this channel and for your unconditional positive regard Andrew. The community you are building is a soft spot to land and one that is greatly needed to educate, inspire and help peeps to recover and thrive despite this insidious thing called narcissism. Now to the business of finding/acknowledging myself and the beautiful, compassionate human being I am! Namaste x

Exactly 💯 % what I went through...It has taken me a lot of years to believe in myself enough to be on my own and not NEED others to survive. I was never taught that I could be independent from my childhood and my marriages and romantic relationships. I have always made choices which placed me in situations of not beliving that I could put boundaries in place. In self defense of my health, my sanity, and my peace of mind, I finally got my fill of being used and abused, and I took the very scary steps to get away from toxic people in my life. I have been living on my own and although I get lonely sometimes, I have discovered that I don't NEED others to take care of me. Do I sometimes get lonely? Yes, but I got extremely lonely in the presence of toxic and narcissistic people who were in my life. I now can control who I allow in my life, what I will and will not allow, and I don't need to ask anyone for "permission", and I can do whatever I choose...sooo free...sooo empowering!!! I’m a bisexual woman who was born into a fundamentalist evangelical family & church was a huge part of my upbringing. I was raised as the “black sheep”, before anyone realized I was a part of the LGBTQ+ community, & I was already getting rebuked and prayed for, because of I even asked questions of the authority from figures, I was seen as a rebellious spirit. I left my church at 14 because of the sexism, racism, xenophobia & homophobia I witnessed in my own upbringing in the churches I was as in. Yet, not until five years ago did the abuse get so severe that I went no contact. When you choose to leave a cult, you often have to walk away alone, & it’s a terribly lonely and hard reality that to save your own sanity, you at times have to walk away from all of those who you knew your whole life. It’s very hard to have to go no contact from those you thought were your own family & friends, because they don’t love you or those like you and preach that you & your loved ones like you are possessed by the devil. It’s a hard truth that you must get far from those who would preach that you are less than they are. Science is now starting to explain how it’s biological to be born LGBTQ+ & less people are being driven by such superstitious & violent belief systems. Thank Heavens, yet if you are born into the extremist splinter groups, it’s going to be ok. When your own church preaches to your family members that you are the “ruin of civilization” & your family won’t stand with you, it’s a harsh reality that you have been born on such a hard path, yet you aren’t on the path alone. To be kicked out of your own family & to watch some friends not stand up for you and join your abusive family is a hardship that leads to being much stronger as a person. It’s painful as hell as it happens, yet after years of healing, I’ve found my own inner strength and it’s great to feel worthy to have the boundaries now that I never was expected to have. It is so hard as it happens, yet it gets so much better. Don’t give up and don’t get discouraged. I’m so happy I found this group. Much love and hope everyone is healing with each day. Remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You deserve to feel safe & you deserve to feel loved. ✨💞✨

I actually loved the book “The Giving Tree,” because it gave me…..perspective. A wake up call, right? Well, this tree here is taking in as much sunlight as I can, including in the form of your immensely validating videos, Andrew, so that I may be a source of cooling shade to others in my life, who deserve beautiful leaves to shield them, and my strong branches and trunk to hold up their weary souls…..empathic tree forever over here. 🌳☀️(and a little 🍀 luck for upcoming St. Patty’s day 💫)

I absolutely agree with you Andrew. You can only control what is in your reach. You can't control the ex narcissist. I realize this person is smearing my name. She not only took thousands from me from her sob stories, but, now I am educated. I left this person 3 weeks ago and feel fabulous. Of course, I am a strong person. I did get manipulated. I will never talk to this person again. I am important... no more abuse. I am taking care of myself. Thank you Andrew for the education. I have a psychology degree and was still manipulated. I am doing fine and everything commenting take care of yourself. You are first. I had a massage, nails done, etc. Things that make me feel good. That is the first step.... Do for you. You can't control the smear campaign, however, let it go. The person looks bad... Why did this person have a relationship in the first place. They look awful....I would wait a year for any new relationship. Andrew is right.

As I'm awakening from this nightmare there is so much to process. And I will need to watch this one again to properly absorb it and allow any good things to get past my automatic defense mechanisms that have become the norm.. But you must know it is a curious thing to me that I came home last night after a long day with my ex, and we were having words and I had turned on the TV and turned my head to look away in an effort to deescalate, and there was the title of this video and it was such a gift because I just spoke those words into the room, as he stood there with that look of disdain on his face.( Focus on What You Can Control and Boundaries) And a bit of calm came over me and it allowed me to regroup for a minute. So thank you!❤️

Again thank you for your video. I like what you are saying and i try my best to apply what i can to my life and i repeat myself that i am a good person. Again today i had to affirme myself on my ex and told her if the only thing you can say to me is toxic or negative keep it to yourself i don't need that in life. I have the strength now to block her (placing my boundaries like you say) toxic word and i am happy now, i have more joy in my life and my energy is going to where it need to go.

I always pointed out at work when I wasn't being treated with respect or right, and It was because I thought everybody was the same that I thought I could do that. I consequently lost my job for telling him off and standing up for myself. That was how they handled it this group. I had worked so hard to get the career that I had and in an instant I lost everything for standing up to them and for myself.

What is totally amazing in my healing process is that while doing so.. I was left alone.. And I realized that most of the pro narc circle were parasites too.. It was like a water fall of cleansing energy.. and small insects were dissappeared..the bacteria people.. Let's say. . And Ok it's scary this kind and unexpected loneliness but it makes you feel so strong.. So super hero... Wow. The only weapon we have, we humans is education... Namaste.

I had one after me in the workplace...I couldn't think of anything except being MAD which made me screw up and made her...look like she was right about me. Yes, that statement about babysitting the whole time is really true...I was thinking of how I lost ME the other day. I actually had lost my identity and did not realize it was happening. I do have goals...I am into watching what laws they want to pass in my State, ,I stopped drinking, I am going to start the gym and I have been taking my sons dog for a walk daily. No more GIVING TREE.....unless it is love, courage and empathy. I've never had a LIFE without someone making my decisions...without realizing it...its so weird.

You always make your videos that resonate with exactly what I’m going through… almost like a spiritual gift… After escaping the narc 4 months ago and blocking him… I educated myself on narcissism and it’s like a curtain fell…and all narcs around me have been revealed… I can’t believe what this education does… and yes, this whole time I was focused only on my relationship but then realized wow… there are narcs at work…narcs in the family and the list is endless… I have a very crazy vindictive narc colleague who is so in my business …copies what I wear…insists on knowing where I go on weekends, whom I hang out with and what my plans are …but in a very controlling and rude way… I was so naively kind and friendly to her… typical empath… but now..I try my best to avoid her… she scares me…she has a vindictive look on her face if things don’t go her way… I can’t wait to leave this job…This education has done such a. Big reveal on peoples nature for me…that it’s scary Andrew…they are everywhere…so yes…gray rock and boundaries boundaries boundaries…🙏🏻
@christine113472 жыл бұрын
They are everywhere, but with our education they are much easier to spot and stay away from. Keep maintaining your boundaries and grey rocking. We can't control how they act but we can control how we act and respond when we come into contact with them. Keep moving forward you are doing great. 💛

It's a giant sucking sound and it's going to drain you of ALL of your energy, emotions, appearance, everything. IF I didn't answer the phone, the narc would come over knock on every window, look in the window, knock on every door, the garage door and would call every 5 to 10 minutes until I would relent b/c of sheer exhaustion. It took one and a half years AFTER the relationship was over for me to get rid of him, the most miserable relationship since my parental "relationship."

Thanks for this. My daughter's step dad who is an ok person but was super toxic to me, has been over our home all the time. It's causing me extreme anxiety and I don't know how to get him to go away for a while. He lived here for over a year and his home was fixed back in October and he's still always here. I'm avoiding my daughter and my mom to avoid him. To top it off I've made some serious health changes and my anxiety and trauma is kicking off and I feel trapped. But my mother who I live with her and my daughter has some unhealthy attachment to him and doesn't understand why its upsetting me so much. Him being around definitely played a part in my last relationship...
