Thanks for the video. I have an LZ Focus. Can one not remove the part from the outside of the vehicle, thereby not having to mess with the inner trim?

yes, but it can be tricky getting the spring loaded tabs to release

Any suggestion what might the issue if the button has been replaced, but the boot still won't release. Key fob still works etc

what looks different? Vehicle in the video is a 2016 so one of the first mk3s, new one was the same as the original?
