You just saved me several hundred pounds! The AC on my car has never been right, I've asked about 3 "specialists" to look at it over the years, the most recent one after it stopped working almost completely, insisted that it just needed the old gas removing and replacing. He even spotted that the clutch was "sticking", needless to say he didn't fix it. I was ready to order a new compressor until I found this. Thanks!

Hi Jamie, My A/C is making hissing noises when the A/C button is pressed... It blows cold air perfectly and everything, but it's just making a strange hissing noise... Some people say it's normal for these euro Fords, but keen to hear your opinion... Cheers
@OEMDeniedPerformance23 күн бұрын
If the AC is working and its just making a hissing noise you are probably right. Its common with the older Ford units.
@MartinJones12323 күн бұрын
@OEMDeniedPerformance Oh okay, yes it is working normally... Glad that it's just a characteristic with these aircons... Seems like the Euro Ford aircons are pretty weak for Aussie conditions, and they rob the engine of quite a bit of power too...

My AC hasn’t worked for a while now, does seem to work at first but then just blows what I assume is outside air. I did test the system last year with an STP AC pressure test gauge thinking it had lost gas but gauge suggested it had ok or actually high pressure. Does that sound similar symptoms to what you’ve fixed here? It’s on a UK ST so you can see how I don’t miss the cold air on for most of the year 🙄
@OEMDeniedPerformance3 жыл бұрын
yeah sounds about right mate. But be aware the car switches AC off under full throttle operation so if its doing it whilst at cruising speed well worth giving the shim removal a whirl.
@troy45uk3 жыл бұрын
@@OEMDeniedPerformance it rarely gets full throttle, goes quick enough without having to do that 😉 so it could well benefit from taking a shim out - I’m going to get a puller sorted and give it a go. Massive thanks for putting this fix up 👍

Great video Jamie! The AC on my XR5 seems to spend more time cycled off than cycled on ... it seems to blow cool enough when it's actually engaged ... and I'd like it to stay engaged and keep blowing cold. Would it be worthwhile putting a bit of Kopr-Kote on the splines before reassembly?
@OEMDeniedPerformance3 жыл бұрын
Kopr-Kote isnt going to hurt it so long as only on the splines.

Could this stop the AC from working at all recharged it fine press AC button light comes on but compressor doesn't engage at all?
@samroberts938623 күн бұрын
What about if nothing happens at all when the ac button is pressed? No noises, no cold air nothing
@OEMDeniedPerformance23 күн бұрын
Then you've got another issue. Might have a leak and be out of gas

@@OEMDeniedPerformance when the ac button is on and the recirculation button is on and it’s set to cold and max airflow, the ac compressor comes on for 2 seconds then goes off for 2 seconds and keeps repeating Any idea what this could be?

Could i please pick your brains? Had a new rs clutch kit including flywheel fitted last year, it sound like i have flywheel rattle at idle but if i rev it i get what sounds like a rod knock, BUT knocking goes away when clutch i pressed, ever come across it before i tear it down
@OEMDeniedPerformance3 жыл бұрын
was deff and RS clutch kit with DMF not a SMF setup? If SMF setup noise is normal, if DMF then id be inclined to say flywheel is faulty (should have been replaced when clutch was done) or something isnt quite tight like the CSC bolt or a flywheel bolt
@craigtaylor53913 жыл бұрын
@@OEMDeniedPerformance definitely a rs clutch including a new dmf, looks like a day on my back again 😂 thank you for replying much appreciated

My xr5 blows cold air then warm air intermittently. Maybe 15secs of cold air followed by 10 secs of warm air. It continues this pattern.. Could that be the start of the issues in this vid or something else entirely?
@OEMDeniedPerformance10 ай бұрын
sounds like the start of the clutch slipping to me
@mrhuss49399 ай бұрын
I tried doing this but it seems the ac clutch on mine is seized in there Any advice? Thanks
@OEMDeniedPerformance9 ай бұрын
need to make sure that the center bolt youve refitted isnt threaded all the way in otherwise the clutch cant slide off the splines because the head of the bolt will stop it
@mrhuss49399 ай бұрын
@@OEMDeniedPerformance thanks i tried that, it seems its seized so i left some penetrating wd40 so will try again tomorrow
