Installed this today and It was alot harder to do then it looked in this video due to the lack of space in the wheel-well. After about 2 1/2 hours and alot of cussing I got it installed and soon as I pressed the gas pedal I cracked a huge smile and realized how worth it that miserable install was. I love the way my car sounds now. This was such a great addon. It only took 3 days for CJPP's to ship it to my house. This video was all I used to assist me with installing the BOV I just wish it was as easy as in in the video too lol

If your BOV is going off constantly you have a boost leak. I found that the bolts they send with the BOV dont tighten all the way letting air in and put of the seal. Use the stock bolts instead and apply a new drop of threadlock to fully tighten it. This BOV should not be too loud and not go off under 4 psi.

CJ Pony Parts Thank You for these videos! This exact part (the Turbosmart compact shortie dual port blow off valve) also fits my 2.0 ecoboost Ford Escape! Didn’t show setting up of the bov. Sometimes you lucky and it’s ok from the box. Sometimes your not though. If you rev and it opens too soon, or when you come off the revs it runs lumpy and tries to die p/stall you need to tighten on turn and retest. Keep doing that until no stalling after throttling. Then go out on a test run and make sure you get the same under load. Also no back firing. If you do turn again firmer. Job done. 👍🏻 If the bov is opening fully on a rev or opening too soon it will not only be leaking too much boost pressure, but it will also damage your engine and turbo in time. After fitting one of these adjustable bovs. Always test it correctly and set up if required..

Ok where to start. This video is amazing and shows you how to replace the valve and makes it look super simple on the lift and head hight. Word of warning ⚠️ I have just done this and what the video doesn’t show you is doing it on a Jack is 1000x harder. It took me 4 1/2 hours to do and ripped my arms to shreds. The hole you have to work through is about 6 inches each side and it’s so far into the engine bay that you will struggle to reach and see what you are doing. It’s worth doing but don’t think it’s as easy as the video shows because it is not. Credit to the video to show you how to do it but if you are a novice and not used to working on cars I would be careful as it’s harder than it looks.

You can adjust for different pressure. Softer will open up easier for lower pressure. Best thing to do is adjust them until the truck idles properly and leave them alone. Some people like setting the spring soft so it blows off all the time.
@ThatOneGuysRoommate10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info! One other thing, if its on the softest setting, then will the ECU be more likely to turn on a check engine, or is the ECU just looking for confirmation that the air is being recirculated. And if the car you have this on has an aftermarket cold air intake like the COBB or an Ingen, will the chance of an ECU check engine be more likely? Sorry for all the tedious questions, want to really know what I'm getting before I get it to make sure that there is no problems.

I would not go full soft but I don't think it will really hurt. The car in the video has a cold air kit installed and is set fairly loose with no issues.

Full recirculate or 50/50?, I also read that It's posible to calibrate it to a 75/15 or something like that. Which one it's better or there isn't really any performance benefit on each calibration, it's just the valve noise.

There are arguments on both sides but since it is metered air there are benefits to recirculation.

@Zerogivengarage10 жыл бұрын
You turn the collar all the way down and then it just becomes a recirc valve. If the collar isn't all the way down then its 50/50 no matter where you set it, the harder/softer setting is an adjustment for boost, elevation, etc. Best to set it all the way soft where the o ring is visible. Start the car and rev it up and release, turn towards the harder setting until you can do that without the car stalling or hunting for idle
@zachchappell361310 жыл бұрын
Bill Tumas So if i still want it to Blow Off but be alittle harder than 50/50 just keep turning right but make sure its not all the way right so the car doesnt lose power or die? @Zerogivengarage10 жыл бұрын
Zachery Chappell The spring is to adjust tension for the blow off valve, you aren't going to necessarily hurt anything but you want the pressure correct so the car doesn't stall and idles like it should
