I thought it was interesting that you said CD is not R&D. As you mentioned, preclinical RESEARCH is part of development and we use Clinical Research and Development when referencing the drug development process. R&D is a broad term that can be used to describe cosmetics, drug, or medical device research and development. The other thing you mentioned is entry level positions within clinical development is CRAs or CTAs but really most pharmDs start in operations (Study Manager) or clinical science (Clinical Scientist). As a CRA or CTA you have no hand in developing protocols, you are carrying out the protocol.

Do you know of any type of positions in clinical development that pharmD students can do part-time throughout school? I just finished my P2 year and am interested in clinical development. I currently work for a PBM in their PA department. I also have a BS in pharmaceutical Sciences already

I want a high paying job when I get out of school. $170k+ in California. I’m finishing my general education and need to lock in a major, do I go clinical, research, or Drug safety physician for my goal. Sorry my counselor is not to helpful.
