In this classic bouldering session at Depot Sheffield, I try to apply all of the climbing tips, techniques and tricks I've picked up in various coaching sessions over the last few months and share my process with you! I pick out beginner and intermediate boulders between V2 and V7 and try to climb them thoughtfully and strategically.

Hannah your channel is probably my favourite climbing related channel on YT. You don't try to show off or cut out falls. You are true to yourself and you're so progress-focused and about learning and not giving up. I love this

the in-video text bits about technique and why you're making choices, good or bad, are really good. it's so easy to just fall off and not ask yourself why it's something we all need reminding about and something which I am trying to remember to do

Thank you! I'm trying to be a little more analytical and mindful with my climbing so it's helpful for me to ask 'what could I change' and analyse my own climbing as I'm climbing and also when I come to edit the footage! :)

I really love 12:24 when you start saying "a better climber" but then correct yourself and say "a more technical climber". It might be very subtle but I think it shows some great maturity. One of the many reasons I really appreciate this channel!

Only got one hour to myself today and seeing your new upload has relaxed me! So thought it would be a good chance to say I’ve been watching for over a year now and just think you’re great. How you correct your negative self talk, yet are really open and real about things like fear and frustration. I would say I’m a naff climber but should correct that! Even when I plod along on a few V2s you’re super inspiring and positive and your love for climbing shines through so thank you ☺️

Louis is right about many things, but in particular on how wickedly strong you are. Not just locking off, but the way you're able to stay close to the wall on those steep overhangs. That's a level of core strength that's miles away for me - I'll just plod along and dangle from my shoulders for a while longer...

Ngl, I am really jealous of you. Climbing with the best climbers, getting tips and tricks just cuz you got a yt channel (for which you work really hard btw), going to FB and all kinds of trips, building climbing walls, AND STILL NOT KNOWING WHICH FOOT TO START ON A V3??? the depravity, the decadence, the disrespect!!!! Awesome that you fight so much, but still, after all these years, it feels like you are not comfortable on the wall, and I am not sure why. Again, sorry, really just jealous, you keep doing you!!

Hey I’m brand new to bouldering, I’m a ballet dancer so have agility but I have no idea where to start other than just climbing whatever’s possible. Anyone have any advice, is getting a coach something worth looking into? 🤍
@Dave1507
@Dave1507 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think you need a coach in the beginning, but maybe an entry course in your local gym might be a good idea if you really don't know what to do. Otherwise, maybe you have friends who are boulderers or climbers who can show you a few tricks.
@phineasg7709
@phineasg7709 2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend getting a coach yet. I think the best plan for beginners is to just climb a lot. Asking other climbers at the gym for beta is a good way to learn new techniques. After about 9 months you can add hangboarding if you want.
