Anyone have any ideas for another location where this same concept can be used?
@tremaintanner10006 жыл бұрын
How about an urban location at night? A location with a lot of urban grit and character, such as one of the back streets of Gastown. Adding a model would also add interest.

Nice drone (DJI Mavic Pro). You should maybe give drone landscape photography tutorials; especially because now due to corona, it's quite easy to just take off.

Really Cool and looked like fun. I will have to try it, I know where there is an old truck in an open ended barn, might just look good with smoke/fog.

Thanks for your comment Richard. It was definitely a fun day. You should try your truck/barn idea. With the right lighting it would look epic.

Tim, I'm wondering whether getting 2 smoke machines, and placing them opposite of each other (stage left and stage right) might have made it easier for you. One generator should be able to power both? Then maybe have two friends to operate them simultaneously, having the smoke converge in the center. Then you shoot, this way no running around... I'm just guessing, what's your two cents?
@TimShieldsPhotography5 жыл бұрын
The problem is that even when you think there is no wind, there is still wind. The wind moves the fog across your scene so the fog machine needs to be on one side... the upwind side. Placing one machine on each side wouldn't help. Good idea though. The key to a good fog shot is an equal amount of fog on both sides. You need balance from side to side.
@faithgrangerfilms5 жыл бұрын
@@TimShieldsPhotography If the forest tree layout allows, why not shoot downstream from wind, so the smoke will creep slowly towards you, this way it does not travel sideways, and you might be able to use two machines? Alternatively, shooting upstream with smoke slowly moving away from you?

I did something similar but used smoke tablets I bought on Amazon for a few $$$. They weigh almost nothing too!

Cool. How do smoke tablets work?
@dondons56886 жыл бұрын
Tim Shields You just light them and let them burn. I use the white ones which look most natural but you can also buy them in different colours. You’ll need a good few of them but they don’t cost much and as I say very light to carry. Look up bug foggers too. Put mineral water in them and they do an even better job.

Tim Shields You are good at coming up with ideas like this! I think I need some more years to practice, it would be too many variables to keep track of for me!! But would be soo cool to do something like this. I love fog in photos - looks soo good!
@TimShieldsPhotography6 жыл бұрын
So one thing to watch for is to keep your eye on the weather forecast. When you see fog is in the forecast then find a location that will look good with low lying fog. If there is early morning fog and the sky will be clear, then if you go into a place with trees you can get something really cool. Also, if you can get up high during a winter fog inversion where the fog is lying low, that is also really cool. :-)
@annetteundheimart47706 жыл бұрын
Tim Shields Thanks for the tip! I am bad at planning these things, but will definitely do that more! We had a foggy day in the mountains this autumn/winter, but it was real luck only that I was there. Would be good to control these factors more!!

Thanks for documenting this. But please calm down with the crazy special effects and music, too many youtubers are doing this and I find it just annoying. Otherwise a great video explaining everything well. Cheers.
@TimShieldsPhotography6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I will tone down the music from here on it. I have a video editor and I told him to try to make an otherwise boring video exciting. So we made very short clips and used loud music. The next video will be the opposite :-) In many ways, this video style was an experiment to see what the viewers would say. Your point is taken :-)

Hola. Me parece terrible que para lograr una fotografia, intervengas de tal manera el entorno natural y la vida silvestre, ninguna foto es mas importante que alterar el entorno natural. Como fotografo de paisaje deberias tener mas conciencia con eso. Nature First
