Foghat were fantastic. Very underrated. Three of the four members came from a band that was part of the 1960's British blues craze, a band called Savoy Brown. They were fanatics of American blues and R&B. They cut their teeth on all that like a lot of young English musicians of that time, so they became really skilled at playing tight blues and boogie with that rockin' British edge. This song here was intended to be a bit of a tongue-in-cheek reversal of the typical song theme of getting tired of the city and moving out to the country.

I didn't know that Foghat was descended from Savoy Brown! Good for them for breaking away and forming a "better" band. Savoy Brown was more for the deep blues fans.
@KevinRCarr

@@Alewifes_Husband They were a different band, they weren't a better band. They were great, but Savoy Brown's legacy is far broader and deeper. These fellows wouldn't have been as good as they were, if they'd never been in Kim Simmond's Savoy Brown Blues Band.

Street Corner Talking is a pretty damn good album by Savoy Brown and in fact listened to the entire album this morning while having my coffee. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Foghat but I wouldn't say they were better than Savoy Brown. Not on their best day and Savoy Brown's worst.

Just joined a longtime favorite local band in Bloomington, IL and we are opening our show with this on Saturday, then straight into Mississippi Queen by Mountain. It's a straightforward drum part at first glance, but all of the accents, turnarounds, breaks, hi-hat opens and such really need to be there, so I had to learn this from the ground up to make sure I got 'em all.

The original Foghat had two of the best guitarist in a band, with the late Lonesome Dave Peverett singer/guitarist and the late great Rod Price on lead guitar as one of the best and versatile on both standard lead guitar (like in this song) and was known as slide king of Rock & Roll on bottleneck slide. Today only drummer Roger Earl continues, but it's not the same. Their LIVE performances during the 70's were sensational. Which can be heard in their 1977 FOGHAT LIVE, and some videos I have from 1974 television performances on "In Concert" series.

Foghat was always around back in the70s & 80s, must have seen them at least 6 times, always on great, multi-band bills, sometimes the headliner, sometimes the support act but always giving 100 % every time. Lonesome Dave was dope, left us way too soon. Try Honey Hush for another great banger. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶 Also they came out of another great British 70s Blues-Rock Band, Savoy Brown. Check out Poor Girl from Looking In, Foghat is Kim Simmonds backing band back then...

Many of Foghat's most popular songs get well deserved recommendations, but I'd like to throw into the mix a couple of lesser known tunes that totally represent their sound, style and expertise. Try Jump That Train and Rock Your House - songs that typify the boogie dancing style that made Foghat's live shows so memorable. Side note - Fool For the City is one of the very few recordings they made where Rod Price, the lead guitar play, is NOT playing slide guitar.

Chod. Been following the channel for a little while now. I think I have something to appeal to the funk, blues, soul, and the drummer in you. Plus, as a bonus, Der will love it too. Two songs. The first is BORN LOOSE by Rod Stewart. It's classic Rod. Down and dirty from the Footloose and Fancy Free album. Bug lots if fun. The studio version will turn you out. The second is from Rufus featuring Chaka Khan. The song is YOU GOT THE LOVE. I'm counting on Dee downloading this onto her phone. The beat. The funk. The message in the music. Enjoy
