Foghat was formed by "Lonesome" Dave Peverett (rhythm guitar/vocals), Tony Stevens (bass) and Roger Earl (drums) all former members of the band Savoy Brown (another band you need to check out). Rod Price (lead guitarist) completed the group. Price and Peverett have both passed away. The band is still out there but Earl is the only original member.

Foghat! One of the best bands of the early to mid seventies! “Slow ride”, “My babe”, Stone Blue”, etc… they had at least 12-15 great, hard driving songs! I believe they formed out of the Rock/Blues band “Savoy Brown” out of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🎸

The core of Savoy Brown became Foghat. I saw SV back in 69, Kim Simmons was the lead guitar. Bluesiest British blues. I think Blue Matter was their first album. SV went off in a different direction with Simmons. Street Corner Talking was a moderate hit. The tune Tell Mama was a memorable banger

Funny back story on the album picture: The album cover shows drummer Roger Earl sitting alone on a soap box fishing down a manhole near 229 East 11th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenue) in New York City, near the address of Foghat's American office. The back cover features skeptical bystanders observing Earl's unusual activity and the other members of the band either asking him what he is doing or trying to dissuade him from it. In a 2014 interview, Earl explained how the picture was taken: "It was a Sunday morning and I hadn't slept. It was Nick Jameson's idea since I have this penchant for fishing. Anyway, we lift up the manhole cover and I'm sitting on a box. Almost immediately a couple of New York's Finest come by in their patrol car. They're looking at us and they wind the window down. We're like, "Oh shit." They yell out, "Hey! You got a fishing license?" and then start laughing. So they come over and say, "What the fuck are you doing?" They took some pictures with them handcuffing me. I love New York's Finest." - Roger Earl

I saw Foghat 7 times. Last year Roder Earl the original drummer an the rest of the band members had a contest an voted me the band members favorite fan . Rodger said I was their entertainment while they were on stage. Foghat was one of my most awesome exspirences out of all the over 200 famous bands I saw live in concert . The last time I saw Foghat was up in Eugene Oregon at the Good Times bar. About 300 people were there. Lonesome Dave was there . An he was having the best of times watching me rocking out to one of the best times in my life. RIP Foghat. An Thank you Rodger Earl.

So explore the others. Starting with the first (John Miles, "Stranger in the City") whose soundtrack alone will knock your socks off. An unjustly forgotten masterpiece. Thanks to you two.

Funny story about my band rehearsing this song. Our bass player Denny used to tell me stories about his friend Chris. Stories about him ordering mini pitchers of Manhattans, and he'd drink four or five at a sitting. That's enough alcohol at once to put me down, perhaps for all time. Also there's a story about Chris pulling up a street sign, cement block and all. BIG STRONG MAN, okay? The day I met Chris, I strapped on the guitar. Chris said something like "I thought Denny was playing guitar." Now I'm thinking: "Okay, I better play good or else I won't see tomorrow because this guy is gonna pull off my arms." Lucky for me, the first tune up is FFTC. So I got to play some serious guitar. Afterwards Chris said, "okay Bobby can play the guitar." I breathed a big sigh of relief.

They are one of my all time favorite groups. I saw them on 11-14 -74 in Chattanooga, Tn. This was my first concert. It was my 14th birthday present. I liked them as soon as I heard them. The original lineup was Lonesone Dave Parevette, guitar and vocals, Rod Price. Lead guitar and master of the slide guitar, Tony Stevens on bass, and Roger Earl on drums. This is the title track released in 1975. These guys are british rock. You need to listen to Home in My Hand, Chateau L'Fit 59 Boogie, Step Outside, Slowride( their biggest hit), Dreamer( my personal favorite), WildCheey, and anything off their first 2 slbums released in th US, Energized and Rock and Roll Outlaws. Great band!

Foghat was born from Savoy Brown Blues Band. Creative differences caused the band to split. You need to check out Savoy Brown, Tell Momma & Street Corner Talking are couple of my favorites.

There's a number of them. If you want to see them live look up the 1981 concert. Particular hits are "Stone Blue" , "My Babe", and "Honey Hush"

Thanks you two for finally listening to my all time favorite band, Foghat! They have soo many great songs to choose from but unfortunately the only one that gets airtime is "Slow Ride". Try any of the following: "I Just Want to Make Love to You"; "Home in my Hand"; "Drivin' Wheel"; "Stone Blue"; "Eight Days on the Road"; and my favorite: "Sweet Home Chicago". The LIVE version of any of these songs would be better. Have seen them four times since the seventies and they just ROCK! The newest version with Roger Earl on drums (original member) blew me away. Rod Price (RIP) was the most amazing slide guitarist I ever heard and his replacement, Bryan Bassett is pretty amazing as well. No one could sing their songs as well as Lonesome Dave Peverett (RIP) but the show must go on. If Foghat comes to a venue near you, go see them, you will not be disappointed!! Thanks again.

Foghat's signature song is "Slow Ride" (you MUST listen to the long version or the LIVE version), "Stone Blue", "My Babe", "I Just Wanna Make Love To You" (live version), "Driving Wheel", "Terraplane Blues", "Burning The Midnight Oil", "Third Time Lucky", "Night Shift". They're out touring, there's only one original member still in the band, Roger Earl the drummer. Sadly, Lonesome Dave Peverett (singer, songwriter and guitar) and Rod Price (lead/slide guitar) passed away in 2000 and 2005.

"Slow Ride" is definitely the most popular song by the band... if you never heard it I'll be surprised! But I'm going to lobby for some of MY favorites.... if you do "Slow Ride" next, please follow up with "Honey Hush", "I Feel So Bad" (an overlooked blues slow rocker with some of the nastiest slide guitar ever put on wax!), their energized cover of Chuck Berry's classic "Maybelline", "My Babe"...a fun rocker that is LOUD and slide guitar genius, "Night Shift" and "Road Fever"! This band is one of my favorite heavy Blues rock bands EVER!!! Lonesome Dave Peverett, lead vocals and guitar, and Rod Price, lead and slide guitars are no longer with us, but their music is a testament to great guitar and vocals from the 70's!

I live in a small town in Florida called New Port Richey. We have an annual festival called Chasco Fiesta honoring the local native Americans in the area. On the last weekend of the festival they always have a free concert outside in a park downtown. 3 years ago that concert was FOGHAT!

Slow Ride" by Foghat was practically a rite of passage for young people in the 70's,. It meant getting out of school and being free. A summer song. It was on the radio every 30 minutes for a few months. Very popular. And I know that most people are going to recommend Slow Ride, but I am going to recommend,,... Slow Ride. Databyter

"Fool For The City" was the first album I bought as a teenager in 1975. Besides the title song you just reacted to, the album also contains the hit "Slow Ride", and great songs like "My Babe", "Save Your Loving (For Me)", "Take It Or Leave It" and my favorite Foghat song "Terraplane Blues".

Back in 93`, I was asked if I wanted to be Foghat`s personal driver for one night. I said YES! I met them at their hotel, hung out and watched tv with them. I drove them to their concert and partied with them on the bus and a private party backstage. They were 4 very cool dudes that treated me very good. I still have the autographed poster that they gave me. I`ll never forget that night.
