Wow. Some very cool items: BTR-152, German tracked APC, anti-tank guided missiles, Saracen, Saladin, and recoilless rifles. A great mix of late 1940s, what ifs, and 1950s equipment. I will definitely be purchasing many items.

I had a toy for that US jeep with a recoilless rifle when I was a kid. It was for GIjOE and it had a really powerful spring and could shoot a bullet about 20 feet. Great fun in the backyard. Not sure if that toy ever managed to reach the UK for Action Man.

I know there’s a lot of people that don’t like this at all but personally I find it a bit of fun. Clash of steel has been an excellent system so far and this has potential to drag new players from that into flames. Reading the moaning boomers on Facebook has been quite funny
@FogofWar2 ай бұрын
I knew this release would be divisive. Some people don’t want any World of Tanks in their World War 2. And that’s OK. But it is here, and will appeal to some. (PS: I’m definitely a Boomer…)
@SolidCat2 ай бұрын
@@FogofWar the problem that I see is that a lot people that moan about this will cry about historical accuracy but go to a tournament with a German list containing more half tracks than they ever built and won’t bat an eye. It’s a bit silly. I do think it’s quite clear that this book isn’t meant to show up in something like warfare or nationals events.

@@SolidCathad a similar discussion with a guy at my local game store that got hissy about a bolt action game happening where it was Brit’s vs USA. It a game, if those that are strictly for history don’t like it they can go read a book. The whole point of games like this are to play “what if’s”, sure you can recreate actual battles but it’s fun to try to see how things might have been different as well.

While it woud have been superfluous, it would have been a nice "historical" option for a towed 32-pdr gun aka the tortoise's gun. One prototype was tested.
@FogofWar2 ай бұрын
Yeah. A fun option, but I think they want to keep it mobile. But the Russians do get the 100mm gun. But was that already an existing unit in FoW?
@Ben-of-old-Yorkshire2 ай бұрын
I've got a quick question about the book - I'm tempted by this period, but avoided clash of steel for a quite specific reason. The gap between British, German and American armour and anti-tank on one side, and soviet on the other, was far wider than the source material suggested, and a lot of soviet material simply couldn't realistically stop or penetrate enemy armour. Is this less bad in LW: Leviathans?
@FogofWar2 ай бұрын
I haven't looked that closely, but I can't see the balance being any different between the two games. It's the same team working on the mechanics. I feel your pain though. The Soviets suffer from "real tank" syndrome - their stuff was generally put into service, whereas the fantasy stuff is a guesstimate of performance based on limited numbers, napkin sketches and wishful thinking. Certainly the German stuff is very heroic. I was happy to see the Malkara missile for the brits on the Hornet - then realised it couldn't scratch Maus or E-100.

I'm really excited for the Kätzchen, even though i think it will be an upgrade sprue for the Jagdpanzer 38. At the end of the war the Pz 38(t) chassis was only used for support activities so it makes sense that "post"-war the production facilities would be retooled for the APC variant. And please just call it kitten or kitty. The letter combinationation "tzch" is really not designed for non-natives 😅
@FogofWar2 ай бұрын
Sorry for my pronunciation! Not sure the Kätzchen will be Pz 38(t) based. It might be the earlier prototype one with the overlapping roadwheels. By MTW? Not sure. Once again - sorry for my German pronunciation.
