@@FogofWar Watching the video, I could not help thinking that whichever way we look at it, the Soviets, both in Mid and Late war always miss 5 points. I am not saying this because I am a Soviet player (I play a lot of US and German) but to make a list that could handle their opponents, I always feel that a few points have been trimmed from what a Soviet list could reasonably be.

It will do you no good - my incompetence and poor dice rolling has doomed me before you can even get started! :-)

I wanted big guns that move and go boom! Talk about words of wisdom in terms of army building! Looking forward to how this works out for you!

Zvezda has come up with a ton of interesting new kits. IS-4's and 7's and heck of a lot of neat german kits.

You are not wrong. I used to review a lot of Zvezda kits a few years ago. However they are hard to obtain in Australia these days, and shipping from overseas is often more expensive than the cost of the kit! But I'll see what I can do.

Looking forward to the updates :). I entered a late war event next June and plan is to take a new airbourne army rather than just relying on my current US or German armies. But, you never know I could end up tackling some of that soviet horde I have in the stash pile (GaleForce 9 was selling Soviet Starter Boxes at £27 each a while ago ).

I have a British para infantry box I bought to review and never got around to. Kristian from Painting Panzers put me off after describing the problems with the fragile resin these are cast in. I never intended to play Soviets, but built my late war list out of review leftovers. Now I’m doing the same for mid war.

KV-8s look scary!
@FogofWar
@FogofWar 7 күн бұрын
They worked well last time, but I rolled a handful of dice (12, I think) needing a 4+ to annihilate the last troops on an objective and win the game. Highest roll was a 3. But the miniatures look great!

I prefer su85's personally. Much more versatile on the table....i get that the massive boomst8ck of the 152 is great and strikes fear into opponents, but you have the kv8's for that. The su85 are more effective for me personally, and midwar, the 85mm is more than sufficient. Better rof and range than the 152...much more useful. 152 is overkill.
@FogofWar

Thanks for that. I suspected this would be the case. I’ll give the SU-152s a shot, but I should build the 85s as well incase I want to swap them out later.

Silly question, "Why do you wash the tanks?"
@FogofWar
@FogofWar 7 күн бұрын
I don’t want to run an infantry list. The mixed tank company seemed like a good way to use the random tanks I already have in my stash. Do you have an alternate suggestion?
@FogofWar

I think I got what you were asking, sorry! You want to know why I wash the kits? In the olden days, we did this to remove mould release compound, a substance sprayed on the moulds during manufacture to help the plastic not stick to the metal. These days that’s not a big issue. But I get plastic dust from sanding and finger grease from assembly. A quickwash gives me a nice clean surface before priming.

Hi Michael. The dates and location are on the graphic on the video. That's a screen shot from the event website. You can also find a link to Operation Burning front on the WA Flames of War Facebook page. But it is the 25th January at Northern Boards in Wangara.

You are a bit of a real commander. You don't get all what you want(need) but have to do the job. Playing in an offensive way will be a surprise to your opponents. They don't expect you that way. But keep it inside. Don't tell it on the internet. 😅

Nah. We're all friends here. They know what I'm planning and are looking forward to it not making any difference to the outcome when I play... :-)
