Wow, watching this again in Dec 2024, and the techniques are exactly what I need for my card and ornament making group, But Gina K! In 2024, you now have your own die cutting machine and foiling machine and wreath builder and and and +++. What a great addition to our crafting space. Congratulations on your inventiveness and powerful business savvy, to design them and produce them and get them to us. ✨💙🕊️👍🎉🌈✨

you are right, any fine powder will work, just nr very careful if using Johnson & Johnson baby powder it contains asbestos which causes cancer so you don't want to breathe it in or use it on a baby, or yourself

when I was in grade school to teach us about capillary action in plants, we took white carnations and put them in glasses with different water we added different food colors to make them change colors, you could actually watch the color moving into the petals it was like magic

Gina I love this foiling technique. The glimmer foil system is not in my budget right now and I love being able to use the laminator. My daughter who is a new teacher is also glad I got the laminator so I could protect her projects. I started out watching you use deco foil toner. People like the pretty cards I send them.

Hi Gina, you've inspired me to have a go at foiling with my laminator - deco foil on order! TIP - when cutting into double sided foam, stick a strip to parchment paper and then cut with your scissors - it stops the scissors getting all sticky x

Beautiful cards! I won a $25 gift card from the recent SSS blog hop! I was able to use it for $25 worth of Gina K product & got the free stamp set, as well! Will this technique work with just Versamark, since it’s a sticky ink? Love this option, rather than buying another expensive tool! Thanks for sharing! ❤️😊
@GinaKDesigns-StampTV2 жыл бұрын
It will work with any ink that you can emboss. You have to actually emboss it first and then foil. :)

How do I tell the difference between foil to be used in a heat source like a Minc , and the kind that requires toner?? A year or so ago I bought someone’s destashed foils, but I don’t remember what they were marketed as!?! Can either type be used with double-sided tape? Or Versamark? Or does it have to be one or the other?

just an FYI, big box office supply stores like Staples or Office Depot have $20.00 laminators, as well
@lindathomas55002 жыл бұрын
If you don’t have embossing magic or like me don’t like to waste money 😂 just use some baby powder and a brush, or if you don’t have any then some flour will do the same thing. It’s not some special thing, it’s just about having a super fine powder. It just covers any sticky areas whether that is oil from your fingers, or ink etc etc, it just needs to be ground super finely ground. Hence why I said baby powder or flour, another one that’s suitable is cornflour. Any residue left after heat embossing will all just wipe of with a dry cloth after same as those bags! Never used one of them, ever. Every year I always seem to be given bath sets with talc in. So just use them applied with a flat brush. Have done for over ten years, and always works perfectly! Just a money saver in current climate!

I t h i n k MY dies seem less susceptible to bending since I starting using the two sheets of vinyl between my Sizzix Big Shot Plus’ cutting plates, as per Sharon Luska’s video. (I h o p e I got the gal’s name right!). In addition to less wear and tear on my dies, my PLATES have suffered F A R less warping and gouging in the bargain, and I don’t have to fight s o o o to get clean cuts (even from most of the cheap-y dies I own!!).

Gina, I hope you see this question. Can you use any clear embossing powder for this technique??? Thank you so much.
@caseyslove2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathy, I have used this technique many times and found the fine ( or ultra fine) clear embossing powder works the best. Also having a small pad of embossing ink is the best to get the sticky ink applied.
