@@MrPolGonzalez it's modular synthesis. Look it up
@bricelory9534
@bricelory9534 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrPolGonzalez being modular synthesis, there are different modules (sort of a synth equivalent to a guitar pedal) that either generate waves to create sound or are used to modify those sound waves - either through telling when to start or stop the sound, change the nature of it's sound, and so on. One of the features of a big system like this is that you can have various stages in the whole process be randomized (either totally or in a range you specify), so it generates the changes on its own. If you're familiar with the idea of procedural generation in video games, it is a lot like that but for sound. So the human involvement was setting up the parameters and controls, having each device affect others in specific ways and once it has been set up, it will continue to generate sound based on those settings until a human comes in and either shuts it down or changes the settings. In this video, no one is pressing a key or thing like that to make the notes. It's all been programmed, basically, and he is letting the program run for the full video.

@@Neavris True, but they essentially serve the same purpose as patch cables: signal routing. EDIT: did some research just to be sure, RCA cables are indeed considered patch cables. @@Neavris not before digital signals but before automatic dialing. It's a huge difference. When you don't have to ask a lady to connect you to some number but roll the disc or push the buttons - it's automatic dialing. Can be electromechanical or electronic. On the 1st of January, fireworks scared my dog off. We got a call from the local shelter two days later saying they'd picked him up that very same day but just didn't have the time to check his microchip and call us. When we got him back, he just wasn't the same. He spent the following weeks deteriorating, not eating, lethargic. He was so energetic just one month ago. I took him to the veterinarian two days ago because that's the earliest I could get an appointment anywhere. They found cancer everywhere. I don't know how he maintained so much energy but I know that I'm grateful for the 13 years I got to spend with him. I don't think I'll ever be the same without him, and that's a good thing. Even now without him, I continue learning lessons in life, love, and what it means to be healthy and happy. This session reminds me the sunrise that day and how excited he was to eat some new food I'd gotten him, while he wore the new neon vest I'd gotten him. I'm still teary-eyed but now have a smile on my face. Thank you.

Everything fits so perfectly for such a calm relaxing sleep. I've checked hundreds of other ambient/sleeping/meditation/whatever and literally nothing compares to this specifically here. Other ones fill me with doubt, or other negative emotions but this is the perfect feeling of hopefulness, mixed with a content calm. After listening to this way too many times, I've finally bought the lossless version on bandcamp. And I gotta say, there are *so many* , so many tiny little details that are lost here on KZbin. Stuff like the sirens, railway sounds, the wind, it goes on. Since I was a little kid, I've been mesmerized by this kind of music. Jean Michel Jarre, Schiller, Pink Floyd, Vangelis - you've earned your place right beside them for me. Please keep up your stellar work! :)
@emiljordanov
@emiljordanov Жыл бұрын

Don't be so dismissive guys. What are "feelings"? Isn't it ultimately just a term we give the emergent awareness that arises from our brains working? A complex network of neurons firing electrical impulses? And aren't computers doing the same? Now sure.. it's not the exact same thing. Human brains are different from computers. But it's absolutely in the realm of reality to assume that machines can have something you could call feelings or conciousnes as an emerget property. I'm not claiming that his synths have feelings. But it's also not such an unthinkable idea as one might think. We humans aren't that special. Our brains aren't unique. Conciousness and feelings are not exclusive to us.

I have absolutely no idea what’s going on here, or how this was all set up, but it’s absolutely incredible. I’ve never heard something that transports me to another place as much as this does. I think ambience of it, and assurance that the soundscape isn’t going to rapidly change like a song does makes it so immersive, really feels like I’m in some alternate world where this plays constantly

Reminds me of a piece performed live for an incredible show at the Oregon Ballet. The synth 's , there were two, played by a couple guys who were really talented. The choreography was incredible. Standing ovation all throughout the house. It was back in 1993 I think. This one reminded of that show. It was the most progressive Ballet shows I've ever seen .

I've watched/listened to this over a period of a week whilst writing and have enjoyed it very much. A very informative use of drone to its fullest effect. What intrigues me is how you can be sucked into just staring at this static object and its magical forest of lights. Fascinating to watch you consider how to close it down in real-time with live commentary throughout. I'd happily sit in a cinema and watch this on 4K for 4 hours. Maybe your next project?! And now it's finished I'll sync it up again.

Overall has helped me greatly in my studies and i will most definitely be checking out your other work.

This is beautiful on so many levels. It’s also precisely why I am unable to find peace “making original” music in the modern era. Is my input valid when you can set a minimal amount of voices with minimal programming and come away with something as visceral and inquisitive sounding as the blade runner soundtrack? Funny, too, now that I consider the themes of the movie itself. Thanks for this!

Cool but is synth music the only music that matters? how to get modules to bring acoustic sounds in? sampling? is non spacey drifty patches even possible? grooves and performances are still important things to try and perfect.. just escape all genres and textures and hand yourself over to notes and rythms... what we are hearing is missing alot of awesome musical cues.... so by no means is this "complete"..... unless all you wanted to make was something sleepy or relaxing.. then it IS COMPLETE
