Oh God, this song, that voice, that bass, the fiddle's attack into the solo... Every part is perfection.

The syncopation between these three musicians. They integrate the melody, rhythm; and leverage the tempo in to it to create this beautiful song.

Heard the Stray Birds on Mountain Stage in 2013 - - Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn were the headliners and were of course tremendous, but the Stray Birds stole the show. They started their set with this tune, and you could hear a pin drop - - until the end, when we let our appreciation be known. By the time they finished their set, the audience was raucous. Wishing them all the best in their careers - -

is there a name for this banjo strumming/plucking pattern? Seems like a clawhammer variant but wondering if there's a specific name (like "travis picking") so I can learn! (beginner banjo player searching for inspirational styles) I've run into this bouncy sound a lot and it just seems like way more than a bum ditty thing.
