To this day, JCY is in my opinion, is the sweetest voice in music. Uncanny control laced with strong character and a mass of raw yet nicely developed talent, this is the front-man you want in your band. Can't think of a comparable singer while his records are playing.

i use to dance dance dance at your concerts. then danced danced some more as my body grows older and a wee bit sore. now, i was planning to clean clean clean my tiny cabin, but instead ........... i watched the concert again and then when my light got to shinning real good.... i shed tears of incredible joy. i have such amazing good memories of those times. ty Jesse and God for bringing us you! big time thanks God. I saw Jesse back then and saw him again recently.. I was amazed at how good his voice has remained 40 years later. Certainly one of the all time greatest voices in music.. Loved watching this video..brought back lots of great memories...Thanks for posting!

Take all the Ozzy Osborn and Kiss, etc. ; have yourself a good old time. In 1977 I bought JCY's On The Road album and I wore a hole through it, then a few years back, my wife surprised me with the really hard to find CD version. I'm not into theatrics, I'm into music. Jesse is a great example of someone who surrounded himself with great musicians and everybody played their ass off, what a pleasure! Thanks for posting

Youngbloods were rovolutionary , with one of the greatest singer songwriters of recent history that posseses an unbelievably soulful tenor, combining jazz , folk ,country-rock, music hall , rag time , old trad. ballads , soul , rock and rock n' roll , oh yeah and avant-garde(in the interlude "explosions" , and frank zappa would have loved that!🥁 🥁 🥁

I've always loved JCY both when he began with the Youngbloods and after that when he went solo. I saw him live back in the early 70s in San Francisco and he was great. This concert is so damn good and Jim Rothermel on saxes is part of the reason why along with the whole band that Jesse has with him. However, his voice and compositions are the major forces for his greatness, and he is one of the greatest ever.

In 1969 I saw Taj Mahal and then Curtis Mayfield open for the Youngbloods at the Paldium Theater in Los Angeles, one the first shows I ever saw, and (obviously) an unforgettable experience. Three amazing artists. Can probably find one, but now would like to hear a live version of Grey Day.

I've seen a few concerts in my life and by far, seeing Jessie Colin Young at the Saenger Theater in Mobile, Alabama during the summer of 1976 was the absolute best concert that I ever attended. The 1920's venue with its' beautiful architecture and intimate setting and being there with someone who had as gentle a spirit as the singer made the music all the better. Chuck Leighty was a fine man; I think it's the only date we had, and I refused the other requests that he made; he was just too sweet and doting. I asked his sister-in-law how and where he was when I met her back in 2016. I don't remember what she said, likely because I didn't like what she said, and all-in-all I suppose there wasn't much I liked or trusted about her, though I did ask her to dine with me to tell her some ... things... about the ghost I couldn't see and me ... that seemed fitting due to her tie with the local priest and fact that this priest had quickly confided in me that he'd lived above a voodoo shop in New Orleans and who took to calling my young daughter Bobby Dylan. In any event, Chuck Leighty, wherever you are, thank you for this wonderful and magical night that I go back to often and the softness you brought to my otherwise hard spirit and wild soul.

Fantastic timing on the guitar and relaxed, smooth unparalleled singing, effortlessly moving between full voice and falsetto. Maybe the only other singers to compare him with would be Smokey Robinson and Kenny Loggins. Unbelievable performance here, and done so with such poise and confidence when you realize the amount of focus and concentration that it takes for a musician to perform at that level. Jesse, you are one of a kind. The kind of a voice that transports you to another place, an incredible gift to the world.

Neil Meharg might have answered my question to this ... But right around this time Jesse Colin Young played a small venue in Marquette, Michigan.. John Prine opened for him and no one wanted John to stop! Then Jesse took the stage and the whole night was magical! Those were the days of GRAND live music...Sitting on the floor so close to the band you could touch them! What a night I'll never forget... And John Prine? Still one of my top 10!

Jesse Colin Young...so fine. Touring is so hard on artists...and these days it's the only way they can make money, because the internet doesn't have a way to give them their money. They have to fight and scratch and claw just to get cents on the dollar IF the music is played on a format that actually pays artists. Now with no touring at all, artists just suffer. And, our country values money over art, so there's another issue for artists...it's no wonder so many stop playing/painting/creating/dancing althogether. Let's keep a happy thought for artists, and remind ourselves daily how much joy they bring our world. Love this guys work and art so much.
