Thank you for these wonderful insights. I grew up in a polygamist community in Canada. My mom was Hagar. My mom was Leah. She was not the favored nor legal wife. When I was 15 I left the community with my Mom and 5 younger siblings. We struggled many times with low resources and we knew that God preserved us and kept us going. He was the God that saw us. I have always identified strongly with the pains of Leah and Hagar because i saw the pains and aloneness of my mother.

Wow. I'll bet you can. What a brave, courageous mom and siblings you have. Makes me wonder how many other women can identify with these strong women yet today. How many sisters suffered this pain in the days of the early church while following the Lord's commandment to raise up a righteous generation through the Law of Sarah or polygendry. So much heartache. Yet they were seen by our Lord as well and many of their children are today's Church stalwarts. Thank God for their sacrifice as well.

I owe Dr. Wilcox a letter. For years I have been writing it in my head. I took as many of his classes as I could and his voice was often what the spirit would bring back to me when I faced trials. I have strived to be unshakeable as he taught me in the Book of Mormon freshman year. The two stories of creating a holding place and that heaven is retroactive have been near and dear to me for more than a decade. I'm so glad to hear them again. Thank you. I still owe you a letter!

My husband and I watch your podcasts after reading the weekly set of scriptures. We just LOVE all the guests you have on. What great insights they bring. The last couple with Dr. Anderson and Dr. Wilcox were SOOOOO great!! I even printed off the transcripts so I can read them over. Thanks for all your work on these podcasts! Can't wait for you to do Book of Mormon! The Doctrine and Covenants were all awesome too!!

I totally loved how Dr Wilcox tied the story of Hagar and Leah to single mothers, i was raised by one and its just beautiful knowing and being reminded that God is mindful of all His children. “If you find yourself living the unexpected life don’t blame God, make the best of it” is my new go-to.❤️

Thank you, Dr Wilcox, for your insights on reconciliation within families. I was taken aback by the context in which you referenced the meaning of 'Manasseh' - it was a gift from God, a burst of light. Through you, the Spirit of God helped cut through some of my family's long standing pain today. So very grateful.

Tracking Abraham Was the dry sand surprised by splash of salt tears wrung from a father’s soul? Surely Abraham wept his way to the mountain. But, still, he went. Was there a trace of trail from dragging his heart behind him? places where sandal prints gave way to knee and handprints and contents of breakfast? But, still, he went. How far the journey? Shorter, perhaps than one could tell by records pressed to the ground’s swell. How achingly sweet any trusting glance or blessed head humble -bowed. And climbing the rock how hungered the reach for clasp of kindred hands But, still, he went. How tempting to curse the cord and leave it lay on sand or stone, or to send the blade flinging to its loss. Baring the throat of his own willing it to be enough, knowing it not to be the treasure required - a drop or two of blood a face print in the begging dust. But, still, he went. Limping into the sacred place made holy by leaving his own small will outside the Greater Will, his inner cries rending the rock ‘til rivers of faith flowed down to the song of the ram’s sound. But what shall be the return? Eternal well upon that hill? A heart too light for the chest, a joy too deep to speak, a song to teach the stone? Tracing their way home, Finding every tear become a blade of green, a star of blossom, a trickle in the sand - pools along the way? Having offered fat of the ram, bittersweet words carved into the plain, tangled in the desert air, impressed upon the heart - Sacrifice is not better than to obey.
