One of my very first records that I bought at Colony Records on 49th Street and Broadway in NYC was John Barry's soundtrack on this Japanese MCA LP for $50, almost all of my week's pay. Still I had a wonderful times spent in that store browsing all the other rare soundtracks and Broadway shows on LPs that I could not afford. Every time I hear Barry's "Follow Me" I always remember those good times to be young and carefree again though broke.

What memories! Colony Records in the historic Brill building. Spent many hours browsing through the soundtracks bins there in the early 80s. Their prices were way too high. The only album I got from Colony was the RCA Italian edition of The Sicilian Clan. I did much better in the East and West village record stores like the Second Coming Records. Thanks for sharing your memories.

@@vidubhai Around the same period, I too dropped by at those same stores down in the village and got a lot of soundtracks, cheap enough that I could afford. Did you get a chance to visit Princeton Records, most of my Varese Sarabande LP collection came from that record store?

@@memoriesarewhatmakeuswhowe6820: Can't recall Princeton Records by name in lower Manhattan, however Footlight Records on the East side had some hard to find stuff. Coincidentally a record store in the vicinity of the university in Princeton, NJ had some vintage soundtracks as well. Most of the new releases I got from Tower Records and J&R World.

I bought The Friday the 13th 3D Disco Version Album there! It came with a 3D cover and 3D glasses. It was really expensive I paid around $50.00 over 30 years ago! 'Kill, Kill, Kill' meets ASMR to a Disco Beat!

Absolutely haunting follow me John Barry anywhere!
one of my favourite films, I remember the music,humming, it for years, and visiting the places, they went to in London, it a bit like melody ,another good film with good sound track, it's strange how sound track's, in films ,from 1960s,and 1970s,had that clear sound,bass
@STEVEFINNERTY5 жыл бұрын
yes the bass being used mainly as a melodic aspect aposed to a sonic element, plucked aswell , it is true you never hear the bass guitar played or recorded like this anymore.
I remember seeing this movie on TV a long time ago when I was a kid. The theme song stuck in my head, along with images of the Private Detective following Mia Farrow as she wandered randomly around the city. Though at the time, I though the lyrics were "All alone, all alone..."

The story began when a wealthy man suspected his wife was having an affair and had a detective follow her. The woman just walks around looking at knick-knacks or stands on the riverbank. The detective feels emptiness and loneliness behind her back and is struck by her subtlety. The woman had long since realised. The story ends with a quiet heart-to-heart between her and the man who pursues her, foreshadowing that they will eventually become true lovers. The song is full of melancholy, conveying the subtleties of a lonely man and woman.
