Dave, I have baby step 1 done. For baby step 2, I have gotten rid of $6,000 of my debt so far but I have so much student loan debt and lawyer debt from my divorce should I do step 2 & 3-7 at the same time?? (Single mom 25yrs old & 2 kids) I feel like I can’t get out of the hole. the debt snowball is showing me hope but it’s conflicting emotionally that I won’t be able to get out in time to save for my future/kids future

Understanding personal finances and investing will most likely lead to greater financial independence. By being knowledgeable about money and investing, individuals can make informed decisions about how to save, spend, and invest their money. Stocks are much pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are alot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look

The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment.,,

Someone says, ''wow, you look great, how did you lose the weight?'' so you start to tell them and about 15 seconds into it they laugh and say, ''Oh my god, I could never (give up pasta, bread, blah, blah, fill in the blank) or they say, ''Oh my god I don't have time to (walk, run, go to the gym, whatever). They laughed: "Oh you don't have to do all that." oookkk so that's why they are still overweight. Too much work, too much effort. I see men, mostly, walking the halls here at my office building and the huffing and puffing they are doing is awful!! I hate to think how the make it up the stairs. Just paid off my second smallest debt in baby Step # 2! Smallest credit card paid off and closed! Before the end of the month I should have my second and final credit card paid off and closed. Next month I should pay off at least half my student loan. By Thanksgiving I should be payment free! Then, I will only have a few small collections to pay and settle on which should translate to debt freedom by Valentine's Day! Yay! The "clear path" thing is real.

Step 1 - $1,000 emergency fund -I've never had less than this amount since I started working over 20 years ago. Step 2 - pay off all debt - still owe $10k on the car Step 3 - 3 to 6 months expenses in savings - I combine these two steps since I only owe on my car and house and my career isn't secure enough to not have a few months expenses saved up. I keep 3 months expenses until car is paid off then I work on 6 months expenses. Step 4 - invest 15% 401k- will do but haven't had much luck earning in this and my company doesn't match. Step 5 - college for the kids - I skip this step since I don't have children Step 6 - Pay off home early - only have $25k left Step 7 - build wealth and give - I'll build wealth, but I'm keeping it all to myself! mwahahahaha!

Step 1: Me too. Having less than 1000 dollars/euros (a European over here) is really suicidal. Step 2: Not applicable. I've never had debt in my entire life. Debt, not even once. Step 3: Currently I have the equivalent to 8 months of expenses in cash in the bank just in case. Step 4: Doing it and finding out that I'm better at investing than I thought. I have a yield of 14.1% in my investments right now. Kiling it. Step 5: Not applicable. I'm European. We pay very small tuitions here. Most are under 3k a year. College/university is mostly paid by the state, i. e., the taxpayer, i. e. me anyways. Step 6: See step 2. Besides, I prefer the geographic mobility offered by renting. Step 7: I'm also not sharing it with anyone. Mwahahaha!

I then paid down my student loan debt & mortgage. I still have some consumer debt (less than $6000). The point that the "baby steps" give one a CLEAR PATH can't be over-emphasized! I've seen tons of great financial advice, by basically everyone: _Pay off your debts. Get a rainy-day fund. Save for kids' college. Save for retirement. Pay off your mortgage._ I get all that, but Dave's the first person I've ever seen that gives me a clear path! Previously, I'd been trying to do all of the above (effectively none of the above) at the same time! Now I'm rolling up my sleeves, and I'm getting started on Baby Step #1.

I’ve completed all baby steps but I’m not married, no kids, I rent my apartment and not interested in owning a home. I’m debt free and I’ll have a pension when I retire in addition to my 401K. Any/all advice is appreciated.

I love Dave's response two people who don't use their intelligence. It's like when people ask you a question and you answer it then they want to argue about it. Don't ask the question if you aren't willing to accept an answer

So I’m starting my first job in my field of study (mechanical engineering) tomorrow morning. This would be the second job I’m juggling. I just finished school a few months ago and loans will start hitting me next month. On top of that my dad decided to gift me with his old car. This would be my first car. I decided to buy the book (not the bundle) just to see how much food for thought I will get. It was $1.99 on Barnes and noble so I said why not. I’m very hesitant and anxious of taking on all these different loads of responsibility. On top of that I’m juggling time to study for my engineering license. I have a clear goal on what I want to achieve in life and I’m finally on set to reach that goal. I just need a certain guide rail to refine my steps and I think Dave may be the key. I’ll have to see for myself.🤔 Also, I think it’s a bit odd that Dave seems to rant into thin air lol.

I will fully commit to these steps starting AUG 2020! I calculated a budget to payoff 1 credit card and spouse’s student loan with a total of $9k. I expect to full payoff by DEC 2020. No shorts cuts not modification because I keep doing that and not paying off debt and increasing my savings. I’ll be back in DEC for my results. Please wish me luck. I am determined.

It‘a tricky in the UK because your student loans are written off 30 years after you take them out. Most people don’t pay off their student loans in the UK within their working life. It doesn’t impact your credit score or you getting a mortgage so it’s difficult to work out if it’s worth paying it off.

Weight loss is not a good example because anyone can do anything to lose weight at first. True weight loss success is when someone can keep the weight off for years...for life. Yes, I have an opinion about this because I have decades of experience in this area. Dave is right when he says “go with the winners.” Just be certain that they really are long term winners and not just here today and gone tomorrow. I have done what the long term winners have done and achieved the same success they did. My big mistake is/was that I stopped doing what the winners do and went back to doing things my way...which doesn’t work! Exactly as Dave states here. And yes, it is all about my ego. It is very hard for me to accept that I don’t know how to do anything. Gotta get humble in order to be successful... at weight loss and so many other things in life.

Save some to put in a Roth IRA and keep funding it. It will grow over time and you got a lot of time, Lord willin. If you have something in mind that you want to learn to be, invest in yourself. Your education whether it be trade school or college or whatever will assist you in making more money.
