I'm early in the video where you are talking about fails. I hope you eventually include the fails in future videos (when you remake those items) or as a series. I think it's good for those of us who are seamstresses to see and learn from the fails as well as from the successes. I definitely will, at least for some of them! I just finished my second attempt at the hoopskirt and I plan on sharing what went wrong and what I did differently the second time around. I think talking about how to resolve, or get past mistakes is really important because everyone makes them! Sometimes though, it's just better to cut your losses. Spending a few days on something that ends up unwearable can be really discouraging - and then devoting more time into editing a video about the project can feel really unproductive. Even if people would watch it.

I’d like to see the boning storage bag. I mean, since you have the footage anyway. . . . . Also, when you said, “I hate floppy facings!” I muttered, “hmmm, indeed!” I apparently still have minor hang ups about home made garments from when I was a child, even though I didn’t have many home made garments as a child, because when I recently made little A line shirts for my daughters, I finished the pocket inside edges, as well as tacking down the inner facings as I clearly remember the annoyance of having a facing fly up in my face and trying to find items in my pocket and everything in my pocket getting caught on the frayed inside edges of my pocket. Anyway, so many things I don’t remember from my childhood and that’s what sticks?! Anyway, your blouse and jumper are amazing! And even more amazing given the lack of quality in the instructions. Well done and educational, as always!

I'm in love with this outfit...This has to be my favorite dress jumper EVER so far! You look GORGEOUS! As for the waist, it might be a hit or miss, but maybe a thin denim belt would help with cinching it to your liking without it being too distracting to the jumper...for the bust, slap on a padded bra and go out to a lovely night on the town! I think a denim belt is a really nice idea! I hadn't thought of that but I probably have enough fabric left to make one. Also, I think I would rather wear a corset than a padded bra but it probably would help the fit issues a lot lol!

I almost died laughing when you talked about making a sequin corset. Aesthetically it sounds like a great idea but also like a nightmare to construct. The only ways I think it could be done is either by using a sequined fashion fabric on top of the corset or adding the sequins on by hand after construction. I hope we can see these "fails" in a video some day.

Even aesthetically it's a bad idea. I worked SO HARD to create a pattern with interesting lines and it's completely covered by the density of sequins in the fabric. And everything in my sewing room is covered with sequin shards. It's worse than glitter. I'm too deep in to stop now but I hate it so much lol!

I was a fashion sewing student forever ago. Like in the 70's yes I am that old. You might try taylors tacks when marking. I use them for everything including darts. I love them, large ones for bigger marks and small ones for small dots

I've definitely had my fair share of cursed projects - even multiple cursed projects in a row that really shook my faith in my own abilities. One thing I always do to try and shake it off is sewing something really basic that I know I could do in my sleep - usually something like a gathered skirt. Completing a project you know you can do and feel good about can help break the run of bad luck, at least in my experience. I loved this video, by the way! You did a great job, even with those wonky instructions - they would've driven me up the wall and had me pulling my hair out! Good for you for finding solutions to the confusion and lack of information! And that fabric from Joann's is gorgeous as well - once again, it makes me wish I could pop over the border to do some fabric shopping. 😂 Keep your chin up, Angela. ❤

I know how frustrating sewing projects can be, I recently had to remake a chemise and then on my remade chemise I had to rip out the collar and sleeve bands and sew them in correctly. But I am very glad you stuck to it and finished the project......it looks lovely!

Oh Angela! You look so lovely in this! I'm really glad you detailed what you don't like about it AND how you would go about fixing it. It is so easy for some of us to think taking it up in the shoulder seams will fix it, then wonder why it doesn't work. I agree with some other comments suggesting you find a bra that helps fill it out more so you can enjoy wearing your project as made. My mother taught me to place a button at the fullest part of the bust to keep it from gaping and then place the remaining buttons proportionally down the rest of the garment. Hope that tip helps for future projects.

Just a note about the pattern with the bloomers that might look like a diaper. I just made it but from a reproduction, size-scaled pattern from Reconstructing History! It's a 1954 bathing suit pattern. Mine didn't come out as poofy as the picture made it seem (I chose linen with a power mesh lining), and it is actually pretty flattering, definitely not diaper-like (despite having that potential). It has hope yet :) (side note: I may sing a different tune when I try to use it in water, but for the time-being this is what I've found.) As always, it is a pleasure watching your progress through your projects. And watching your videos has honestly helped me to get my butt in gear and start making things again, following my vintage dreams.

The idea of a mock-up for the jumper, to help alleviate the gaping in the front, I agree with what you said. It would have been done with a lighter fabric and would not likely have shown the need for removal of the extra couple of inches. Do not beat yourself up. I NEVER do mock-ups (I’m too lazy). I like my tailors’ board too. Another great addition is a stand for the tailors’ ham. It allows whichever edge you need to be held in an upright position so you aren’t trying to position the ham and hold the fabric with one hand while trying to iron with the other I bought myself a great iron too- the Laurastar. It produces a constant flow of steam which is great

The jumper is flattering is dies fit you waist beautifully. And if only you'd lift the neck line tapering to the shoulder it would fix the beck gapping when you relax your shoulders. I had the same problem with my friends wedding dress and this technique fixed it and I didn't have to slash and close it this would of distorted the garment. I'm a couture pattern cutter and Fashion Designer from the UK and I was taught by one of the UK's top fashion tutor's he taught and wrote the sylibus for the degree course at the London school of fashion. Also with a 5/8 inch 1.5cm seam allowance you never add to the seam for French seams there is enough there in the allowance.for this , Ive done more french seams than I care to remember successfully. And please stop beating you self up your incredibly talented. And I love watching you on KZbin. Well done

This whole outfit is CUTE. I specially like the jumper because there is no waist seam. A lot of the older patterns assume basic knowledge most people don’t have these days. Angela, I personally learn more watching sewing vids where things DON'T go well, because things go wrong for me all the darned time, and it helps me immensely to see how really expert people recover. Please don't think everything needs to be perfect for every vid, because it's your process, no matter what stumbling blocks happen, that keeps us coming back. Yes, exactly. Google images of 1940's wrap around pinny. It's not an apron just from the waist down or a chef's apron. It's a full body covering. Not like a Holly Hobbie pinafore. More the equivalent of a long lab coat. My great grandmother still wore these in the late sixties to do her housework. Light cotton fabric with flowers or stripes. The cut edges at the armhole and front closure weren't rolled under, but bound with a seam binding in a complementary colour.

Love that pattern and how it turned out. You looked wonderful in it. I think it fit you perfectly. It only gaps when your posture was slouched and it wasn't that severe. I have missed watching your videos. I'm glad you are back. You almost make me want to wear skirts again. I love that jumper. Please show the video of the sack. It sounds interesting and is different than your regular sewing. Shows your diversity of skill.

This outfit is super adorable on you! Love those colors, and the fit seems so flattering! The asymmetric button placement is gorgeous! This seems like an outfit I want in my own wardrobe, if I could figure out how to recreate it. I won't get all the details just right, but I think I could take inspiration and get something close.
