PIKAbrusier very different. The same way a painter wouldn’t understand the mechanics of digital art right away if a digital artists didn’t at some point work with actual paint it’s just as difficult to pick up, especially since the techniques for each style (acrylic, oil, watercolor) are so vastly different from each another.

Tannis FireBeard um... I was never disputing that nor did I ever question his talent. I was only replying to someone else confirming a fact that each and every artistic medium differs from one another and that each one requires specific knowledge, tools, practice and technique. Not once did I say anything referring to Arin.

To be fair, Danny kind of had the technique right. But as Arin found out later, the paint needed to be thinner. Bob Ross technique lives and dies on Liquid Hwhite. Still not as bad as I thought it would be. 😂 Also, Bob is working on a 16 x 20 primed canvas. They worked on 4 x 6 cardboard.

Yeah. Honestly both Arin and Dan are pretty good at this art form. I'm awful at art though. Took art and design both in high school and community college along with production, editing, acting, vocal, choir, acapella, and other art classes. All were not within my major(that was audio engineering). I just took them all to understand my area of work and just for fun. I always knew I was bad at all of them. But, watching Dan and Arin(and also you along with other amazing art and content creators) helps me realize how amazing they are at making art even if they are goofing around. I mean don't get me wrong. These are not the best representations of them at painting. But, if they took there time with it, I honestly would love to see what they could make:)

You know, in all honesty their paintings weren't really that bad. Sure it's not nearly as good as Bob's, but the fact that they aspired to try and be like his definitely made their paintings much better than if they'd tried on their own. I think they should be proud of their paintings.

I've painted a few bob ross paintings, and made some of my original work after learning more, and they definitely should have covered the canvas in some sort of liquid layer first. I also slightly dampen my brush to help the colors blend better, it hurt my soul to see them go ham with globs of paint on a dry canvas with those tiny brushes, oh gosh
@ns8158
@ns8158 5 жыл бұрын
It typically should be applied in a thin layer, but soaking the entire canvas evenly. I don't recall actually seeing Bob go through this process in the videos of his that I've seen, but that's probably because it takes a few extra minutes to do properly. It makes the paint easier and smoother to apply, and also stretches the paint out more, so you're also saving paint over the long-run. Also helps with blending. In general it should make everything much easier.

Just in case you don't know, oil paint can take like, 6 months to dry, so put those paintings somewhere safe! If you want to replicate a Bob Ross painting, but don't want to wait so long for the paint to dry, I would highly recommend looking into acrylic paints instead. They aren't as thick as oil, but they dry overnight and can be thinned with water or medium. They are much easier to clean up as well, and don't require a solvent. It was great watching the Grumps do some painting! I'm a painter myself, and this episode made me happy and cringe all in one! Love you guys.

Yeah, liquid clear (linseed oil) or liquid white (linseed oil + titanium white paint) are pretty much required for any Bob Ross painting techniques to work. It's ok though, they did their best with what they had!

Thank you for the kind words, she’d be happy to know I’m famous and finally made the big time. God bless her racist soul.

I'd love to see them painting more often, but with proper equipment. I know that the Power Hour is a format that's for silly stuff, but they really seemd to enjoy themselves. I like it when the boys are happy :D

I want to see them both with a bigger canvas, all the right tool and correct brushes, paints, thinner and water. And they both get to have their own iPad so they can each go at there own pace to a Bob Ross episode. Maybe they can have a little briefing on some basics of oil paint specifically the wet-on-wet technique that Bob uses. I think that’d be a genuinely nice episode to watch
