For this American tourist, and I imagine most tourists from other lands, it was surprising to find oneself constantly adjusting to the traditions of many Christian churches and memorials built over selected sacred sites. It is likewise surprising to find disputes over the authenticity of a site. Your archeologist’s approach has been refreshing and affirming. The scriptural memory of the event is the important thing for me. Scripture brings us ever closer to the Son of God. The physical place is secondary, but each one is also made more wonderful by your kind efforts. An ancient scripture professor that guided our Israel tour reminded us that if various traditions hadn’t built buildings over sites, we would just find parking lots and plaques instead. I chuckle to think of the need to park all those buses in Jerusalem. With tourists coming back, the parking problem only compounds itself. Parking is probably a challenge for you too, Danny, even in a car.

You are like a believer, Indiana Jones with your adventurous spirit on a mission from God, taking us into that cistern& across the ladder. Perhaps you checked it first before the vlog and there were no bats, snakes...? What a beautiful mikveh! I felt the cleansing. I never imagined what the site of the early Jewish believers in Yeshua would look like. At first there wasn't many nations or Gentiles joining them in their assembly as soon as Yeshua was raised from the dead, so could this be the place? I couldn't sleep with the anticipation of your vlog, so how exciting to hear your vlog after I saw on another KZbin ad the skies are opening to Israel for the unvaccinated. Does this mean tourists can come unvaccinated with negative PCR test results before the flight & again upon arrival in Israel? And airfare is low @ under $1k! Our friends are opening their apartment to us if they can travel first. It could be we will meet you face-to-face. How I longed to be in Yerushalayim @ Pesach, not "next year", but this year! Just out of curiosity. I couldn't help but notice that the doorway into the cistern is similar to the entryway of the Garden Tomb. I don't know if that is coincidence or it is a direct reflection, possibly proving one of the many theories of the original tomb. Also this was a great vlog series! Very informative!

Maybe the upper set of stairs on the center divider was for a mikveh attendant. Enigmatic and wonderful site, to me it seems like someone converted it to a house. It seems too small to be the first church of James the Just.

Is it possible the chamber that was opened up when closed held water and the window up above to the right is where water would pour in and the bath was there with step going down and coming up. The two chambers were holding water like tanks.

Oh.. good question.. we see them in growing numbers in the Hellenistic period, but it is very hard to date more accurately a ritual bath.

The opening in the tunnel may have been used as an escape hatch.if discovered.worshipping .they could escape on a ladder up the opening.quickly.they probably had a lookout.who knows what our brothers and sisters had to go thru to worship our saviour.if they worshipped in the catacombs and caves in Rome.they surely did in Israel.
