@jens20492 ай бұрын
It is absolutly not the best now Romance has come out
@sanfordcurtis82422 ай бұрын
@@jens2049 it’s not. Romance, whilst the singles are very good, is a transitional album for the band. They tried to go for a more poppier and anthemic sound with the new album (In the Modern World sounds like it could be a Coldplay song) and ultimately lost something in the process. Some of the songs don’t sound fully realised or complete. Skinty Fia is a much more realised and cohesive record in comparison.
@ZoéCosnier2 ай бұрын
@@sanfordcurtis8242 In your opinion, factually it's number one on the "album of the year" chart, and on metacritic top 3 of any album released in 2024.
@nabber1272 ай бұрын
@@sanfordcurtis8242interesting take, I agree with a lot of what you’re saying. Most seem to be lavishing this new album with praise simply because ‘hey, it’s the Fontaines’ but you can tell that the gap between writing and recording simply wasn’t long enough to fully garnish/develop the the tracks to the same standard as Skinty Fia. It all felt a bit rushed, after Skinty Fia the whole world was CRAVING more and they just had to give it to them. You’re definitely right in saying it lacks the same cohesion as the previous 3. It’s a great album, sure, but it lacks some authenticity for me. James Ford has his fingerprints all over the sound of this album and I hope that they work with another producer in future. I think this album has put me more into the mindset of ‘next album is make or break’ and I can tell many of their die-hard fans feel pushed away by the poppier sound. Unpopular opinion but ‘A Hero’s Death’ would stand on equal footing with this record for me, many would argue that was also a transitional album for the band. Many consider it their ‘worst’ album (it’s a tough competition, all of them are pretty solid) but it was definitely a Fontaines album, this record not so much

Make you feel Everything you've never even seen Yeah, it's been A long, a long, a long, a long, a long-long You've been my Favourite for a long time [Verse 2: Grian Chatten] Stitch and fall The faces rearranged You will see Beauty give the way to something strange Yeah, it's been A long, a long, a long, a long, a long-long You've been my Favourite for a long time [Chorus: Grian Chatten] Well, look who's just the newest clown 35 hours coming down How the sun shines on new pavement And you don't even feel it It's a cry far from bed radios And days spent playing football indoors When they painted town with Thatcher They never even wanted to know ya [Verse 3: Grian Chatten] Feel alone? I can split the sunshine to the day Yeah and Stick your heart to everything you say Yeah To be gone, be gone, be gone, be gone, be gone You've been my favourite for a long time You've been my favourite for a long time [Interlude: Carlos O'Connell & Grian Chatten] Favourite for a long time Favourite for a long time Favourite for a long time (Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa) All the pieces last forever (Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa) All the pieces last forever (Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa) And all the pieces Dara-dara-dara-dara-dara (Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa) And all the pieces Dara-da, dara-da [Verse 4: Grian Chatten] Did you know Cities on return are often strange?
