The cheese slicer and your response to it made my day.

I've never seen someone so delighted with a cheese slicer. 😁

Gavin, you crack me up! Watching you get so tickled over that cheese slicer made my day! I made a Fontina from your recipe that will be ready in mid-May that I hope will be as good as this one!

The eating sounds were very ASMR lol. Great video man. I love brined cheeses.

I always love your videos for being informative and because you clearly get so much joy from cheese - I think your reaction to the slicing proves it!

Looks good. Those cheese slicers are also excellent for removing the rind of a piece of cheese, must easier than the string kind. But I remember the cheese vendor giving out taste tests on a slider like that when I was a kid( I’m from Denmark)

Cheese Planes have been around forever. I remember my father getting one at Alexander's department store in New York when I was a kid. Very nice slicers, easy to clean and care for!

Just curious, has there ever been a cheese he doesn't like? You seem quite passionate about cheese which isn't too surprising considering you make your own! It's nice to see such enthusiasm

Hey Gavin, have you ever tried to make your own style of cheese instead of traditional ones?

Congratulations!

Traditional Norwegian-style cheese cutter. They're very proud of the design, and it DOES work very well, especially for medium hard yellow cheeses (think Jarlsberg). =)

Why do you call the middle paste?
@JennyEverywhere6 жыл бұрын
Because it's not the rind? Seriously, it's just a standard cheese term. Check out www.wisconsincheesefoodservice.com/assets/images/pdf/Glossary-of-Cheese-Terms.pdf or culturecheesemag.com/cheese-dictionary to get some more cheesy terminology.
@JonBoroughspicolumbusin6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for answering. I just wondered. I know some middles of cheeses are creamy and not solid so paste makes sense to me on those, but for hard middle cheeses paste doesn't fit so I was curious :)
@JennyEverywhere6 жыл бұрын
It doesn't have to have the consistency of library paste or toothpaste to be CALLED the paste. It's softer than the rind and tends to be of relatively consistent, and semi-soft to extremely viscously runny, depending on the variety of cheese. You wouldn't squeeze the paste of a cheddar out of a tube, but that's not required in order to fit the definition. It's just a way to differentiate between the inside of a cheese and the outside. Don't read too much into it.

It said on my dogs label “do not feed dairy products”. Did your dogs label not say that?
@zibblesnivits50106 жыл бұрын
Yeah... Just like us, the babies naturally are able to digest dairy, but in many adults dairy products can cause digestive problems and it usually gets worse with age.
@Silentgrace116 жыл бұрын
Weird. The label on all of my dogs said "feed cheese daily"

Some dogs can't handle their cheese. Gives 'em the runs. We had a dachshund that was like that. Don't give him cheese, or you'll be dragging him outside for walkies every half hour until he binds back up inside. Like Porthos on Enterprise. Don't give him cheese. He adores it, but can't handle it.

Gavin, please be safe and don't cut the cheese with this slicer holding the piece like you do in this video - put it down on something straight and hold it from the side. I've sliced off a bit of my ring finger once doing it the way you do and it was not the best moment of my life, that's for sure.
