RIP Taylor Hawkins. He didn't drum on this track, but he carried the video and made this song great for 25 years.

Went to my first Foo Fighters concert at London Stadium in 2018. Such an incredible experience. Hawkins will be forever missed by all the fans and the rock world. If my memory is right they closed the show with My Hero. As we walked out of the stadium everyone was singing it in unison and fireworks blasted overhead. Truly spectacular!

Bob Dylan, someone kind of known for his lyrics 🙂, told Dave the line "You've got to promise not to stop when I say when" was something he wished he had written. High praise, indeed, coming from a legend.

Dave is the best all around musician, IMO, of his generation. And that is saying something.
@pizzulo81112 жыл бұрын
I agree 100% and I don't take that lightly. When thinking about that statement I would consider Dave Grohl the Prince (the artist) of his generation. Regardless of musical preference, the utmost respect must be given to them both in the same regard as Hendrix.

And he's cool as shit! Have you seen Sound City? And he's hilarious on The Hot Ones, that show where celebrities are interviewed while eating 10 progressively hotter chicken wings across from the host, Sean, who matches him. I've heard so many guests say it was the best interview they'd ever done. Highly recommend. The channel is called First We Feast. 🤘🤩🤘💥

@@jenx4115 Saw both of those, actually. Watching his interviews are always entertaining, in large part due to, as you mentioned with him being everyones' favorite interview, you can just tell that everybody in the room is having a good time and not just working, wishing they were somewhere else. I love how Dave didn’t even actually play guitar around this point, his entire process was just to sit down and mess around with it until he finds a chord he likes and then do the same thing over and over until he had a song.

Nice how the Foo fighters talked to Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore about stealing a riff,yet Nirvana recorded Come As You Are and it was a total ripoff of Eighties by Killing Joke!

I used to love Killing Joke but he's a fan hater, won't play anywhere in the US and said he doesn't care for American fans, we can all go f ourselves. There's some tonal similarities, but I guess he can suck a kiwi if he doesn't like it (lives in NZ). LMFAO I'm going to listen to eighties again to see...

This is one of the very few perfect albums ever made. Top to bottom. Not a track to skip. The lore is that Grohl also played some of the drums on the their third album, though he and Taylor Hawkins will almost never acknowledge who played what. There are interviews where they let some details slip (i.e., Hawkins did Break Out, Grohl did Learn to Fly.).
@jenx41152 жыл бұрын
Learn to Fly is my other favorite - that doesn't really say it. I need it so loud that I can feel it in my chest, and if I could only hear two songs for the rest of my life, these would be it! Dave is the best drummer alive. And he DOESN'T READ MUSIC. 🤘😝🤘
